PC football games 2020 are nothing to scoff at! It's been quite a while since we last had such a consistently awesome-looking year far as football goes, and though we're sure you've already picked your favorite, we'd like to present you with the rest of the upcoming releases.
With this article, we'll show you a short overview of each of the upcoming PC football games 2020, as well as mention a few of the ones that are already out! The three big ones - of course - are Football Manager 2021, FIFA 21, and eFootball PES 2021 Season Update. Each of these games brings something fresh and exciting to the table. It would be a big shame if you discounted any of them on the basis of previous experience.
All you need to do is to scroll on ahead and check out whichever title you'd like to read about. In the shortest informative order, we'll tell you why we like what it offers, and why you, too, should take note of it. We've also got a small surprise towards the end of the article, but we'll get there!
One of the most exciting game releases of 2020, and already one of our top picks for the best of all PC football games 2020, FM21 is nothing if not iconic. This year has been a bit hectic, to be sure, but a few weeks' worth of pushback is not that big of a deal!
What is curious, however, is the almost complete lack of information we have about the game at this time. Sure, Football Manager is a game of iteration, but developers have mentioned that we should expect a variety of cool new features on top of the usual season updates and content revisions. They've not mentioned what, exactly, these new features will be, but they're coming alright!
Perhaps even more interesting is that Football Manager 21 has, by now, received feature updates that weren't originally planned for its release back in January. This was, of course, due to the unprecedented pandemic we are still reeling from.
Whereas other major titles included in this article have already received heaps of gameplay trailers, reveals, and showcases, FM21 remains a more mysterious predicament. If only for that reason alone, it's at the very top of our most eagerly awaited releases, and we've only got a few short weeks to go!
Ah, FIFA 21, the classic. What? You didn't actually think we'd skip over the obvious one, did you now? Well, we're not skipping over much of anything today, so there you go. This year's FIFA release is going to be a teeny tiny bit strange. The reason behind this is that FIFA 21 is an end-of-generation title, and it's actually going to come out in two versions. Fret not, because those who buy the game on current-gen consoles will also get free next-gen upgrades to claim. As usual, the game is running on the well-regarded Frostbite engine. While we're not sure what sort of next-gen upgrades we are to expect, they're bound to be plenty impressive regardless.
In more general terms, we're looking at a renewed focus on Volta street football, and plentiful revisions to FIFA's classic Career mode. Graphics upgrades aside, plenty of core gameplay features will be getting brought up-to-speed as well.
"Informed by feedback from the community," announced the official pitch, "revisions to the fundamentals of football in FIFA raise the game throughout the pitch, with manual headers, more balanced blocking, more intelligent passing..."
The usual kind of upgrades, then, but with a slick new lick of paint, and an engine upgrade to bring it all together. All in all, a great new addition to the roster. Excited?
PES 2021 is a bit of a strange one, for sure. This year, Konami decided to forego a full new PES 21 release, and prepared a content update built on top of the 2020 version instead. While this might not sound all that good at first, the Season Update version of PES 21 is an incredible deal regardless.
Firstly, it's way cheaper than other PC football games 2020. Sitting at a neat £24.99 without any sort of discount in place, it should be the go-to option for those who aren't looking to dish out a full £60 for a new football experience. It's fully up-to-date, too, and brings up a variety of improvements compared to its predecessor.
Another major boon in favor of the PES 2021 Season Update is that it is already out. In fact, it's even got some pretty darn good Steam reviews, if that's the sort of thing you usually look for. If you'd like to learn about the game, its several unique editions, and its specific system requirements, you can do so right here at 2Game. If you're looking at a good bang-for-your-buck sort of deal, we reckon PES 21 may well be completely unbeatable this year. The fact that you can play it right this instant is cool, too!
There actually is one more game we ought to mention in this article, and it's Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions. It's not exactly what you'd expect out of this article, we're sure, but it's a football-themed anime RPG launched in 2020. Basically, the game follows the classic manga/anime storyline of Captain Tsubasa. Chances are that you've seen this IP somewhere on TV or on an odd bookshelf and thought nothing of it. It is, however, pretty darn popular, and we're happy to say that the new game is not half bad, either.
Make no mistake, this new Captain Tsubasa game isn't the classic FIFA/PES experience you might know and love. It's way closer to something along the lines of a JRPG, actually, but with football gameplay mechanics to bind its features together. It's a strange sort of genre mish-mash that just works, somehow, and we'd be amiss not to recommend it.
Of course, if you'd like a more classic management or arcade football experience, Captain Tsubasa shouldn't be your first choice. If you're in the market for something a tiny bit out there, though, be sure to give it a whirl!
Now that we've covered our bases, the only thing that remains to be seen is what sort of niche each of these games might be trying to capture. It should be plainly obvious that each game offers a slightly different experience across the board, and this means that, depending on your interests, you might want to choose carefully. Here's our assessment, if you're looking for short guidelines!
We hope these notes help you in finding just the right PC football game for you! Stay tuned for more cool content right here at 2Game, as we've got lots of exciting news to share in the coming days. Have a good one!
