At long last, the Total War: Warhammer 3 pre-order is here! Creative Assembly has finally pushed out a TW3 announcement, and it's a real hoot. Taking what little information is available right now, we've prepared a comprehensive article containing everything we know about Total War: Warhammer 3 right now. We're 100% positive there's lots more info coming. Eventually, y'know.
In the meantime, we're going to take a crack at Total War: Warhammer 3 PC system requirements, its hypothetical release date, potential races and factions, and heaps more!
We already know a fair bit about the game by now, though you're going to want to check back in from time to time to get the latest scoop. Once information drops, we'll update this article accordingly. So, without further ado, let's take a gander at what we have so far.
Total War: Warhammer 3 Pre-Order now available! Discount included!
Total War: Warhammer 3 is now officially announced, and we finally know something about its pre-order content pack. "Regardless of when you pre-order – either right now or closer to release – you will still get the same bonus," said the announcement. "As with our previous Early Adopter bonuses, it will also be gifted to anyone who pre-orders or buys the game in the first week after release, so you will still be able to claim the Early Adopter bonus for free up to a week after the game has launched."
That information has now been updated further: the Early Adopter bonus will consist of the Ogre Kingdoms pack, and it's looking pretty hefty if you ask us:
On top of that, you now have the opportunity to snag all the virtual goodies by placing a pre-order right here at 2Game: no need to go very far at all, really. If you're interested in seeing what the previous Total Warhammer games got, check out previous pre-order deals on TW: W titles in the following section.
Back in 2016, Creative Assembly did feature a number of goodies included with TW: W pre-orders. Namely, there was the Chaos Warriors Race Pack, which was free for all pre-orders and for those who bought the game in week one. This DLC was launched as a purchasable bonus later on, though, so there wasn't much in the way of exclusivity. What was exclusive, however, was a batch of Warhammer-themed DOTA 2 items.
Elsewise, there were two special pre-order editions you could spend your hard-earned schmeckles on: Limited and High King Edition. These came with a bunch of extra goodies, though they were relegated to physical release only. So, not much useful info there, really.
As for TW: W2, Creative Assembly assembled (ha!) the special Serpent God Edition for early adopters. This was - once more - dedicated to physical editions of the game, as it included physical strategy guides, an awesome canvas map, "lizard skin" packaging for the game, and heaps more. Again, a phenomenal deal if you're really into Total War: Warhammer, but the actual pre-order content didn't include anything that you couldn't get post-launch.
Total War: Warhammer 3 pre-order is bound to be a great deal for super fans of the franchise, though we're not 100% sure it's going to be a must-have for ordinary fans. Whatever content might get bundled for pre-purchasers is also bound to be made available for normal buyers later on, so there's little in the way of FOMO to be worried about. Of course, do keep in mind that we're yet to get any real info on how this will all work. Things might change: who knows!
We finally have it, folks: the official Total Warhammer 3 release date is here, and the game is slated to hit the stores on February 17th, 2022. This means we've got just a few short months to go before Creative Assembly's vision for a sprawling and comprehensive fantasy Warhammer strategy is complete.
Excited yet? We are!
If you were afraid that you would have to get TW: W3 on the Epic Games Store, put those fears to rest: the game is going to launch on Steam day-one, too.
What will happen, however, is that Warhammer 3 will release both on Steam and on the Epic Games Store simultaneously so that you get your choice of the marketplace in the end. As per the official announcement, the game is not going to be store-exclusive in any way, shape, or form. This extends to its inevitable DLC, too: "all Total War: WARHAMMER III content will be released simultaneously on all storefronts."
Great news, right? But, since there's a major slice of content that transfers from one Total War: Warhammer game to the others, the question is: what's going to happen to that? According to Creative Assembly, "it’s not possible to track the different Total War: WARHAMMER content you own across different storefronts," which means that those who have been keeping track of the franchise so far (i.e. on Steam) will probably want to stick with Steam for the time being.
That said, CA did mention that "[they] hope to add these games – and their DLC – to the Epic Games Store before Total War: WARHAMMER III launches," so there's that.
A resounding yes! Creative Assembly will support full cross-store multiplayer functionality at launch, which is just lovely.
It should go without saying that Total War: Warhammer 3 PC system requirements are likely to be pretty darn high. If there's one 2021 release we're 100% positive won't be making its way to any of our low-spec gaming lists, it's TW: W3. Taking a look back to its direct predecessor, Warhammer 2, the game gets very intensive when the going is tough. With dozens or even hundreds of units clashing in large battles, and with the kind of graphics that Creative Assembly is known for, do be prepared for a worst-case scenario here.
Creative Assembly's latest full launch - Total War: Three Kingdoms - is what we'd use as a handy reference. Find the game's full recommended system requirements below!
Going off' this, we do not believe that Creative Assembly would have gone all-out with raytracing-tier features, so we reckon a GTX 1070 or GTX 1080 might be the recommended GPU, with a newer Intel i5 and Ryzen 5 processor included for good measure. Naturally, we'll have a more precise outlook on the state of TW: W3 system requirements once the developers release them. Who knows when that might be, though!
As fans of the Total War: Warhammer franchise offshoot will know, one of the series' main draws has been its massive Mortal Empires campaign. Much like Hitman 3, Total War: Warhammer 3 is going to unify all of the content that Creative Assembly has prepared for the entirety of TW: W and bundled it together into one enormous sandbox campaign mode. Incredibly exciting, yes, but the question remains: what sort of content will Warhammer 3 bring to the table?
It's hardly secret what region of the fictional Warhammer world the game will be set in. In fact, this information has been heavily hinted at for quite a long while now. While the previous two games have focused primarily on the central and western regions of the planet, the eastern regions were curiously left excluded. Do consult the map we've included below, courtesy of Reddit user Elvastan.
UPDATE: Following the official announcement of the game, it seems that we're not getting all the races we thought we would be getting at first. That said, what we are getting is pretty darn incredible, seeing as how the legendary kingdoms of Kislev and Cathay are finally going to be getting the limelight they deserve. Find the confirmed list of playable races below, and do keep in mind that DLC is bound to bolster those ranks as well!
There's also the suggestion of a certain force that might be working behind the scenes, but we'll get to that in due time.
ORIGINAL TEXT: The section of the world that's been masterfully "circled" in blue? That whole thing has been unexplored as of yet in the context of Total War: Warhammer. Makes you wonder, doesn't it? This also gives us a very general idea of what races we might be getting with TW: W3!
Chances are that Chaos Demons themselves will make an appearance too, but they're not traditionally tied to any given physical land. And - what do you know - that's just about everything we know so far. For the time being, we're going to have to wait and see if Creative Assembly would grace us with an actual announcement. Now, if the trailers we've got featured below are anything to go by, there might be something going on...
Though there's still some time before we'll have our first hands-on with Total Warhammer 3, Creative Assembly has been kind enough to showcase a bunch of gameplay by now. You can find select trailers and highlights in this section. From what we've seen so far, this may well be the craziest Total War game yet.
Exciting times ahead, believe us. Stay tuned for more Total War: Warhammer 3 news as we get them! Right here at 2Game, of course.
