Hood: Outlaws and Legends is still a bit of a mystery to many of us, and that includes the game's actual PC system requirements. This medieval PvPvE heist-centered action title promises a gaming experience to rival Destiny's Gambit and the entirety of Hunt: Showdown, but can it do that? PvPvE is significantly harder to do than regular PvP. Or PvE, for that matter.

While we've currently got no way of knowing how that might turn out, we're pretty impressed with what we've seen so far. Outlaws and Legends looks great and tackles a subject matter that's woefully underrepresented in modern gaming. So, today's article is going to focus on delivering all the information we have about Hood: Outlaws and Legends to you.

Down below, you'll learn about Outlaws and Legends system requirements, the official release date, and potential beta testing windows. We'll also go over the game's actual gameplay, as well as its potential single-player modes. Basically, all the stuff you need to know to be able to tell if this is the right game for you.

Hood: Outlaws and Legends Release Date

Right off the bat, the important part here is definitely the game's official release date, and it's slated to launch on May 10th, 2021. With just over two months to go before the game is out, there's a lot we know about it already, but also a fair bit we've got virtually no clue on.

We'll get into that shortly, but first, find all the important technical information about the game's content and pricing down below.

Pre-Order Goodies

As is usual for modern releases, Hood: Outlaws and Legends too will have a pack of pre-order goodies for early adopters. If you're interested in snatching the pre-order, you'll get three days' worth of early access to the game, as well as a unique set of character and weapon skins.

It's worth pointing out that The Forest Lords should be available as a standalone purchase down the line. If you're not keen on pre-orders but you're feeling the FOMO, we wouldn't worry too much. If, however, you'd like to grab the game right away, you'll be happy to hear that you can buy it at a discounted price - right here at 2Game.

Post-Launch Content and Long-Term Support

In true game-as-a-service fashion, Outlaws and Legends already has a full year of post-launch content planned out. In fact, the "ultimate" all-inclusive Year 1 Edition of the game is already available for pre-order as well, and it comes with all the upcoming Year 1 content to boot. Discounts included!

And yes - you heard that right - Year 1.

We can't tell yet if Outlaws and Legends will take off with the general gaming community, but we're hopeful. It's got a unique premise (more on that below), and heaps of content planned out already. Before we move on, feel free to consult the following table for an overview of what's coming with each of the game's two editions, and what the Battle Pass plan is.

Far as pre-order schemes go, this one's not very complex at all, and from what we can tell, there should be no content exclusivity over time.

Outlaws and Legends System Requirements

hood-outlaws-and-legends-pic3

As we said at the start, the developers - Sumo Digital - are yet to announce Outlaws and Legends system requirements for PC. However, we decided to try our hand at making a wild guess depending on the devs' previous track record, and on what the game looks like.

While the good folk over at Sumo Digital worked on a wide variety of games over the years - including the phenomenal Forza franchise and even Hotshot Racing, more recently - their most similar production to Hood was, perhaps, Crackdown 3. Of course, the two games are still miles apart, but here are the recommended requirements: purely as a reference to keep in mind.

We'll compare these system requirements with those of Hood as soon as they're made available: be sure to check in from time to time if you're interested.

Hood: Outlaws and Legends Gameplay

In case you don't know, PvPvE stands for 'player versus player versus environment', and it's a common term used to describe titles that feature simultaneous clashes between both players and AI-driven enemies on the same battlefield. Some games do this phenomenally well, but it's not a very easy thing to pull off.

The central premise of Hood: Outlaws and Legends' gameplay is that two squads of players will need to face-off against one another while also avoiding/fighting AI opponents. Both groups will need to plunder noblemen's treasuries, but only one of them will have the chance to actually get away with the loot.

Each match will have three separate "stages": planning (Tactical), execution (Stealth), and getaway (Action). Since players can break stealth (or pinpointed for the AI by the opposing team) at any given moment, you can basically mess up the execution stage whenever. Developers promise that Hood will be competent in both stealth and action sections, so there shouldn't be much trouble there.

According to Hood's game director, Andrew Willans, "Things usually kick up a gear during the 3rd stage of the heist. If the treasure chest is seen by any state guard on its journey to the extraction zone then a map-wide lockdown will be triggered." This will lead to a tense game of cat and mouse between the two squads of outlaws, but the AI will perk up as well. Sounds like a rather exciting setup, all in all.

What do we know about Hood: Outlaws and Legends Characters?

As you may have realized by now, Hood: Outlaws and Legends takes its cues from the classic Robin Hood folklore. And, indeed, Robin Hood himself is set to make an appearance in the game as one of the four playable classes. Each class excels in a particular aspect of gameplay, and we've summarized those below.

Check out the class gameplay trailers featured below to get a better sense of how it all meshes in practice.

We'll include the remaining character class trailers as they drop - another reason to check in with this article from time to time.

Will the Sheriff of Nottingham make an appearance, too?

Actually, yes, the Sheriff is one of the key components of every given heist in Hood. Not in the way you might expect, however. In Hood: Outlaws and Legends, the Sheriff is a massive instagibbing mini-boss who players need to steal the key from in order to proceed with the actual heist. That's right: you need to get in really close to the Sheriff, but if you get seen, you'll get treated to a lovely death animation and that'll be the end of it.

Sumo Games' game director Andrew Willans had a bit more to share on the Sheriff, too: "His behavior will change throughout the course of a heist, largely based on player actions," he explained. "If you are seen he will actively pursue you until you break line of sight and get back into stealth. While he never breaks into a run, his huge strides cover ground so quickly that players will need to sprint in order to escape."

Who'd have thought a simple AI presence could sound so intimidating, right?

Is there going to be a Single-Player Mode?

If you were hoping to have some fun in Hood: Outlaws and Legends on your own, we've got bad news - there's going to be no single-player mode available at all. Sumo Games have designed the experience as one that relies on player inventiveness and emergent gameplay, and this means that it would be almost impossible - not to mention cost-ineffective - to program AI stand-ins for bot matches.

Wrap-up!

There you have it! That about summarizes everything we know about Hood: Outlaws & Legends so far. Of course, we'll keep an eye on developer updates and push more content to the forefront of this article as more info is released.
