Anybody who hasn't been living under a rock will know that 2022 has turned out to be quite the amazing year for gaming already. There are stellar games coming out left and right, sure enough, but surprisingly there haven't been that many cooperative multiplayer games to choose from. So, today, we've got a special mid(ish) 2022 look at the best co-op games 2022 you could (and should!) be playing with your crew.

Though Elden Ring overshadowed almost everything that's come out over the past few months, we've picked out a few excellent games that are worth a shot still. All have cooperative multiplayer functionality on board, too. This means you can jump right in and enjoy them with friends, family, and virtually anyone else. Best of all - there aren't any obtuse multiplayer features to contend with!

From online co-op games, to sprawling ARPGs, to high-intensity shooters, we've got a little bit of something for anyone. Scroll on ahead and have fun!

10 Best Co-Op Games 2022 to Play on your PC

Now, you may notice that this list is intended to cover all of 2022. This means we'll substitute some of the older games featured here with newer, potentially more exciting alternatives as they come out. To that end, the final list for the year may well end up looking way different in the end.

Goes without saying that some entries will deservedly get their place on our top 100 PC games of all time, too! So, if it's co-op suggestions you're after, this is the page to bookmark and keep an eye on. Now, let's get down to brass tacks.

Back 4 Blood

Best PC Co-Op Games: Back 4 Blood

Sometimes, you really cannot beat a proper online co-op zombie shooter. With Tunnels of Terror having just come out, Back 4 Blood positions itself as the co-op FPS zombie shooter to play. To be fair, it's not a perfect game, and both Left 4 Dead and World War Z are better in specific areas and for specific playgroups. Overall, though, Back 4 Blood is a good choice for up to four players who are ready to slash and shoot their way through the undead with style.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

The Skywalker Saga is incredible, simple as that. This lovingly-crafted retrofit of all three Star Wars trilogies is the quintessential LEGO co-op game, and if this is the blueprint that TT Games aims to follow for future releases, we're in for a new golden age of LEGO gaming. Setting that aside for a bit, expect oodles upon oodles upon oodles of content and delightful gameplay. Especially if you're enjoying it in local co-op mode!

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands

A fully-fledged Borderlands offshoot, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands succeeds in separating itself from the mainline franchise just enough to make sense, and it's all the better for it. Really, this is the Borderlands gameplay experience you know and love, but in fantasy and with a Dungeons & Dragons theme. Get four players up into a single playing session, and it's the most customizable hoot you could possibly have in a looter-shooter.

Journey to the Savage Planet

Here's a weird one you might not have heard about! Savage Planet is, more so than anything else, an adventure game. Up to two players can join forces to explore a - wait for it - savage planet brimming with classic sci-fi humor of yesteryear that, somehow, works in this context. Expect puzzles, exploration, and light combat to enjoy with your co-op partner. A real delight, albeit not a very long one!

Insurgency: Sandstorm

Best PC Co-Op Games: Insurgency

While we're pretty big fans of playing Sandstorm solo, its impeccable co-operative multiplayer mode is its main draw. Up to 8 players can team up to fight against waves of insurgent forces on virtually all of the game's many maps. You're getting excellent mid-match progression, a meta-unlock system with cosmetic rewards, and almost horror-quality FPS gameplay that's virtually unmatched on the market.

The Ascent

Twin-stick shooters are a tried-and-true multiplayer staple, and we're thrilled to report that The Ascent is among the best of them. Though the game is renowned for its implementation of raytracing to great effect, it's also a very brutal and kinetic combat experience to enjoy with up to three friends. Cover gets ravaged, civilians get torn to shreds, and the world still looks amazing. A must-play for fans of the genre, truly.

Monster Hunter Rise

Best PC Co-Op Games: Monster Hunter Rise

With its seminal Sunbreak DLC on the way, Monster Hunter Rise is more relevant than ever before in 2022. Make no mistake, it's a lighter, more streamlined game than its immediate predecessor, World, but that's not to mean that it's any less comprehensive or complex. There's much to love here, indeed, and Sunbreak is bound to define Monster Hunter for years to come - especially in co-op multiplayer.

Risk of Rain 2: Survivors of the Void

Best PC Co-Op Games: Risk of Rain 2

We're pretty big fans of Risk of Rain 2 here at 2Game, and its first major expansion pack, Survivors of the Void, is effectively a must-have for every fan of the game. It adds more endgame content, without going into any further details, which includes new stages, unlocks, and characters, and it goes without saying that it's all doubly more exciting in co-op multiplayer.

Fallout 76

Best PC Co-Op Games: Fallout 76

Believe it or not, Fallout 76 is pretty darn great in 2022. The game has received too many content updates and patches to keep track of and with a variety of optimizations and much-needed quality-of-life fixes, it's the cooperative Fallout experience we all wanted all along. Note, though, that it's highly unlikely that all 24 players will agree on much of anything at a given time. Unless the aliens attack, that is.

Warhammer: Vermintide 2

With Warhammer 40,000: Darktide coming out late in 2022, Vermintide 2 remains one of the finest multiplayer online co-op FPS experiences of all time. We're talking about brutal, visceral melee, punchy ranged combat, and gore galore. What more could someone wish for in a Warhammer FPS, anyway? And look, we know virtually nothing about Darktide as of right now, but Vermintide 2 holds up, and it's worth playing even if on the basis of hype alone.
