The next Jojo game is upon us! For a franchise as popular as Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, it sure feels strange that it doesn't have a whole library's worth of games available across most platforms. Whatever the case may be,  one of the most recent titles - originally a 2013 PlayStation 3 exclusive - is getting brought up to date now, at least. That's right, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R PC is now available, and we're here to tell you everything important about its PC version!

Revamped and improved, All-Star Battle R is actually a pretty big step forward for the original. Bandai Namco is delivering a few absolutely crucial improvements, after all. In fact, there are a few improvements we hadn't expected to see in the first place, which makes the whole thing that much more impressive.

Really, though, fans of the Jojo franchise know what this is all about. Expect lots of yelling, a veritable truckload of ridiculous posing, and a steamroller. The usual!

Few other IPs lend themselves quite as perfectly to the fighting game model as Jojo does. In fact, the legendary anime/manga series has practically been built on top of ludicrous combat scenes. And, it just so happens that All-Star Battle R goes out of its way to let players effectively re-experience them from a new perspective.

Mechanically, the game isn't dissimilar to, say, Tekken, Dragom Ball FighterZ, or even the more recent Soulcalibur entries. Except - of course - none of the other Bandai Namco fighting titles come even remotely close to the level of interpersonal drama present in a Jojo game. To say nothing of the characters' tendency to strike a pose. Y'know, whenever.

There are over 50 unique characters to choose from, and these include old favorites and franchise newcomers, too. From Jonathan Joestar all the way to Jolyne Cujoh, IP veterans will have a truly massive roster of fighters to pick and choose from. What's even better is the fact that there are multiple game modes, too!

Having garnered solid reviews back in 2013, the original All-Star Battle was a lovely entry to the Jojo IP. Fans of the series, in particular, found the game to be remarkably faithful to the source material and billed it as a "must-have" for virtually every Jojo fan under the sun. Since the game only ever launched on PlayStation 3 back in the day, however, most gamers couldn't even give it a shot.

This is all changing now, however, and the most obvious and most prominent novelty present is just that: availability.

However, Bandai Namco and the developer, CyberConnect2, are taking things a step further still. The goal with this remaster, remake, or - quite simply - re-release, is to truly realize the atmosphere of the animated Jojo series, and getting the right voice-over was a major feature in this regard. The game should be recognizable, then, but with features such as hit-stops, we're looking at a wildly different experience in moment-to-moment gameplay.

As it currently stands, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R is available as of September 2, 2022. This means you can start playing the game right this instant!

At the same time, it's worth pointing out that this is a game for Jojo fans first and foremost. Its content is drawn from the entirety of the game's manga and features characters and events from stuff that hasn't even been animated yet. To that end, it's unlikely that it's going to have a huge amount of mainstream appeal. For those who are into Jojo, however, there's simply no better choice on the market!

Unsurprisingly, All-Star Battle R won't kill your PC if you try running it. Being a rather old game at this point, it's likely to make its way onto our list of top low-spec PC games of 2022, instead! It's going to take the humble GTX 1060 - which is a whopping six years old by now - to max the game out, according to Bandai Namco, which is a good sign. Finally, there's the major elephant in the room: the season pass. Indeed, Bandai Namco intends to make All-Star Battle R a longer-lasting game than it was at launch, and this is going to be accomplished through the introduction of a content-packed season pass. The specifics of the game's season pass haven't yet been revealed, but we do know that all Deluxe Edition buyers will get it by default.

So, it's not a total must-have as the base game is positively loaded with content by default. Still, superfans of Jojo are likely going to want to get as much stuff as they can, and the Deluxe Edition of the game serves a sizable chunk of extra post-launch content for those who intend to stick with it.
