BEST PC ANIME GAMES 2022:

Tales of Arise

With a Metascore of 84, and very positive reviews across the board, we rated Tales of Arise the best JRPG of 2021.  It's not hard to see why this is rated one of the best anime games. Full of action and intrigue, Tales of Arise transports the gamer to a cinematic world of natural beauty. A world depicted by stunning watercolor graphics and anime artwork, where you can tell the time of day by the way the light hits the natural landscape.

Play as Alphen, an enslaved Dahnan man who suffers from amnesia and is unable to feel pain. In a complex and evolving relationship, Alphen reluctantly joins forces with Shionne, a female descendant of the oppressor Renan race, who is cursed and cannot be touched without thorns emerging from her body. Each fueled by their own motives, Alphen and Shionne embark on a journey of resistance.

Tales of Arise is an anime game that masterfully weaves together a gripping storyline, complex character progression, stunning visuals, and a fresh combat system. Expect a second-to-none role-playing gaming experience.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy

Become Attorney Phoenix Wright and experience the thrill of the legal justice system in this original and compelling courtroom adventure anime game. Conduct the crime-scene examination, study the evidence, cross-examine the witnesses, and go head-to-head against a trio of Prosecutors, as you experience a battle of wits like no other. Find out whether you have what it takes to survive the vipers nest, uncover the truth, and save your innocent clients from wrongful prosecution.

Incorporating around 60 hours worth of gameplay, the combination of story-driven narratives, larger-than-life characters, and tongue in cheek humor makes Pheonix Wright as fun to play now as it ever was.

If somehow the series passed you by, then we suggest you get yourself a copy of the game today!

Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch (Remastered)

Described by critics as "one of the best JRPGs ever",  and with a Metascore of 86,  we challenge even the most jaded amongst you not to fall in love with this charming and heartfelt anime game!

In a majestic world full of beauty and pain, join a brave young boy as he embarks on mission to face the formidable wrath of the White Witch in this award-winning and timeless video game.

The compelling narrative at the heart of the anime game is brought to life with remastered visuals and a dynamic combat system to make you feel fully immersed in the action. Accessible, endearing, and immersive, Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is a near-perfect rendition of the JRPG genre. It truly deserves its place as one of the best anime games and we cannot recommend it enough!

Dragon Ball FighterZ

A change in tack from some of the slower-paced, story-rich games on the list, DRAGON BALL Fighter Z  is a frenzied celebration of what DRAGON BALL does best: Fighting! And it does this very well.

With state of the art anime graphics that really bring the visuals to life; power-house fighters you've always wanted to see embroiled in battle; and spectacular fighting gameplay to include 3vs3 tag team battles, aerial combos, and royal rumble style 6-player Party Matches; we rated DRAGON BALL Z! to be one of the best fighting games of this generation. Hats off to Bandai Namco Entertainment!

Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition

In another contender for most charming JRPG, Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition follows the journey of former Imperial Knight Yuri Lowell and an ensemble of well-drawn-out and colorful characters that he meets along the way.

We love the development of the relationships in this unorthodox and heartwarming tale of courage, adventure, and friendship. Buckle your seatbelts and prepare yourself for some bumps on the road, as Yuri and his ragtag companions find themselves in the middle of a heinous plot that threatens the destruction of the planet.

Tales of Vesperia: Definite Edition feels as relevant today as the original did back in 2008. And it is certainly just as entertaining!

Code Vein

CODE VEIN transports you to the depths of hell in this post-apocalyptic dungeon horror. Join forces with a friend, or play with the computer, and embark on a treacherous journey to uncover the key to your past. It is only through unlocking your past that you will be able to escape your present.

A must for all action role-playing fans, CODE VEINS stands out from other JRPGs on this is list as one of the few multiplayer co-op games. Let's face it, immersing yourself in hours' worth of gameplay is more fun, and certainly more sociable, when done with a friend. Especially when this gameplay involves delving into a world of living nightmares! Hey, if you are facing death and destruction, blood and gore, why not do so with a friend? This video game is awesome!

Persona 5 Royal

Released in October 2022, and with a Metascore of 95, Persona 5 Royal is the most recent, and highest rated game on the list. And that is quite something!

For previous fans of the anime series, who would have thought anything could top Persona 5? Well Royal takes us to another level. Introducing an original story-arc full of surprising twists and turns, new multidimensional characters, and innovative combat challenges to keep you coming back for more, Persona 5 Royal goes above and beyond a re-release or remaster. It is nothing less than a showcase in creative gaming genius.

There's nothing more to it. Don the mask. Discover your inner courage. And join the Phantom Thieves of Hearts in their crusade for justice, as you infiltrate the minds of the corrupt and steer them towards redemption!

Digimon Survive

After 4 long years in the process, Digimon Survive was finally released in July of this year. And it came as a bit of a surprise. Unlike previous Digimon renditions, Digimon Survive is less action-orientated and more of a hybrid visual novel. Indeed, combat makes up only around 30% of the game! Think less Pokemon, and more Persona, and you will get a sense of the change in direction that Bandai Namco have taken with this anime game.

Does it work? Yes! Because the story is thrilling, the visuals are stunning, and when the time for combat arises, it is full throttle.

Digimon Survive transports us to an ominous world full of ferocious beasts. Help Takuma and his friends on their journey of survival as they are confronted with difficult dilemmas and dangerous foes. Digimon Survive is a cleverly crafted, turn-based combat, tactical RPG. But be warned. Although the graphics may look charming, unlike some of the other more heartwarming games on this list, Digimon Survive is not an anime series for the faint-hearted!
