The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan CD key is now available! This unprecedentedly cinematic horror adventure game comes from the developers of Until Dawn. Its multiplayer focus, however, is entirely fresh, and will offer more in the way of replayability than you ever thought was possible in an adventure game.
Of course, Man of Medan is only the first of the upcoming Dark Pictures, with the next one launching smack-dab on Halloween of next year. Good stuff all around, we promise. We'll talk about Little Hope when the time is right, however. In the meantime, let us tell you why Man of Medan is a great choice for a dark and cloudy evening. Friends or no friends!

Man of Medan follows five people on a holiday diving trip. What starts as relaxing fun turns into a veritable horror experience when our unlikely heroes get stuck on an abandoned - and haunted - ship. Whether through their fault or not, this is where the adventure begins. How it ends, of course, is up to you.
As the players explore the ship. they find out more about what is actually going on. Do you want to know what that shadow in the corner of your eye really is? Worse still, do you want to chase after it? If you're in the market for a Bad Decision Simulator, boy is Man of Medan going to be a hoot.
The obvious main draw of the game comes from decision-making and dialogue options, which makes Man of Medan a very cinematic experience. In fact, we'd even go so far as to say that it's got no real competition on the market!
While the focus is definitely on making choices, there is also a healthy dose of action, much as you'd expect. The action sequences are presented via intense quick time events. While many of us aren't huge fans of QTEs, we will say that Man of Medan has implemented them in a very reasonable and appropriate manner. This is, after all, a narrative adventure game.
Horror movies necessarily lead to horrific, gruesome deaths, whether on or off-screen. That's a given, because who doesn't want to watch their favorite character get torn in half by an incomprehensible cosmic horror? However, movies are linear and non-interactive, as opposed to fully interactive video games.
Man of Medan bridges this gap between the two media niches. It's an incredibly polished and cinematic experience, but you still have basically full control over your character's decisions and actions. In multiplayer, too, with up to 5 players controlling their own characters. Who will live? Who will die? Only one way to find out! All of the five main characters can survive if you play your cards right. Choose poorly, and you got five funerals to organize.
All of that is good and dandy, but here is the REAL reason why you should play Man of Medan - Movie Night Mode.
The Movie Night Mode is what differentiates Man of Medan from other horror games. With you and up to 4 friends, you can play through the entirety of the story, but each character will be controlled by a different person. That means individual choices, variety, and replayability.
It truly feels like you jumped into a horror movie. The outstanding graphics and creepy atmosphere help in selling that feel as well.
The pitch makes perfect sense, then, but that's worth basically nil if the execution isn't proper. Thankfully, Dark Pictures: Man of Medan's developers sure know their stuff, and they've already garnered critical acclaim from some of the most highly-revered review sites we know of.
PC Gamer, for example, praised the game's co-op functionality, saying that: "It's a fascinating way to experience a story together, where you can steer relationships and the action based on what you've observed and what you've shared."
Game Rant, on the other hand, emphasized the importance of choice in an experience as unique as Man of Medan:
"Man of Medan succeeds where similar games have failed because choices made in the story truly do matter and have a significant impact on the plot."
Finally, Metro praised the Dark Pictures Anthology's authentic horror experience:
"What even this game proves is that being in a horror movie isn’t as easy as it looks and that, actually, wandering off on your own and losing sight of the group is an easy thing to do, especially when you don’t know what’s really going on."
Man of Medan is, no joke, the perfect choice for both gamers and non-gamers. The only real prerequisite is that you do need to enjoy horror. Spooks come easy in Man of Medan, and it's not a game for those with a faint heart.
While most of the multiplayer games are played with a same group of people, this one is best experienced with different bunch each time, and who doesn't like a good horror? We can't wait for the next entry in The Dark Pictures Anthology.
