It's honestly rather impressive through just how many out-there situations the Destined One goes through over the course of Black Myth: Wukong. Between dragon-riding, fox-pretending, and pot-breaking, there's a wealth of varied scenarios for you to have fun in. And not so much fun, too, considering just how punishing the game can get in some cases. Like... for example, the Pagoda Realm, which is also known as the Chapter 3 prison.
Over the course of Chapter 3, the Destined One ends up embroiled in a bit of a wild goose chase, as he needs to take down a roster of lieutenants before being able to take on the biggest bozo of the region. While it's obviously a bit of a problem that you get captured in the first place, the good news is that your keeper is one of those lieutenants, and the trip through the Chapter 3 prison will set you onto the track of taking them down.
The reason why the Pagoda Realm is often considered to be one of the most annoying areas in the entire game is its unique health curse debuff: every three minutes, you'll be beset by the head honcho's magical chant that halves your health whenever it's active. Obviously, this is an immense pain that only gets worse when you see the unique enemies that appear while the curse is active. These Lantern Wardens are powerful in their own right, but they also massively buff all nearby enemies and the Destined One as well. So, it's a give and a take, but combined with the health curse's debuff, this makes for painful, hard-won progress.
Now, the curse cycle isn't going to stop until you take down the big boss of the Pagoda Realm, Captain Wise-Voice, and the only way to reach them is to climb all the way to the top of the Pagoda prison. Neat, right? Here's our assortment of tips on getting there!
Really, the lanters are the important bit to remember. You can find your way through the Pagoda prison relatively easily even if you don't, but they're an easy mark of where you need to go. Your progress will be massively hindered by the ridiculous number of enemies in the prison, however, so that's the real blocker.
After you've dealt with Wise-Voice and, subsequently, killed Lotus-Vision as well, it's time to get back down to the Lower Pagoda and begin exploring the area properly. Two important things have now changed in the Chapter 3 prison. Firstly, there's no more timed health curse to contend with, and no Lantern Wanders roaming about. Secondly, all the doors locked with the purple magical seal can now be opened, since you killed Lotus-Vision.
There's a bunch of awesome loot you can find simply by retracing your first go through the Pagoda prison more thoroughly, but the most important of them all is the cell right next to the one the Destined One first wakes up in. Make sure that you open that particular door and rescue the Third Prince to get a snazzy bit of disposition, and the opportunity to unlock the Ashen Slumber transformation.
