Since Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is not just another straightforward shooter, it goes without saying that its atmosphere and narrative will be what makes or breaks the experience. Now, obviously, we have no way of knowing what the game's story is about so far ahead of the release date. Further, we don't have any real desire to spoil it, either: experiencing Indy's adventures at your own pace is the most important bit!

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle takes place in 1937, smack-dab between Raiders of the Lost Ark (1936) and The Last Crusade (1938). No shortage of bad guys to pummel down into the dirt, then!
The story of The Great Circle is an all-new creation of MachineGames and Bethesda Softworks, which means it hasn't been directly referenced in the mainline movies. Yet, as the game takes place between the (chronologically) first two films, it's going to be highly relevant to the plot at large.

Subsequently, Jones realizes that there have been places of major religious significance built all over the globe, with Vatican being just the one of many. This is the titular Great Circle, and it consists of Vatican, the Sukhothai temples in Thailand, Shangai, Himalayas, and even the Egyptian Pyramids. Naturally, these locales will plays host to Indiana's adventures during the game.
