Borderlands 3 is getting its second DLC towards the end of March, and with the Guns Love and Tentacles release date firmly set, we can discuss its content! Naturally, once the DLC is out, you can expect a Legendary Weapon guide by the likes of Handsome Jackpot. In the meantime, though, we've got more general info to share!
If you're wondering about new loot, a new planet, new characters, and the new story that's coming with Guns Love and Tentacles PC, you're in luck. These are precisely the topics we aim to cover in this article. If it's general info you need, here's the pitch: Hammerlock and Jakobs are getting married! It's happening on a Lovecraftian planet, and the event will be led by none other than Gaige and Deathtrap! Exciting stuff indeed!
Everything is on schedule at Gearbox, it seems, because the official release date for Guns Love and Tentacles is coming right on time. Expect for this exciting expansion pack to launch on the 26th of March. Quite close by, isn't it?
There are two reasons why this is great news. Firstly, you still have the time to play through Borderlands 3 and its first DLC, Mad Moxxi's Heist of the Handsome Jackpot. Secondly, we won't have to wait long before we can play the next chapter! We're big fans of Gearbox's DLC schedule so far, and we believe they'll keep the good stuff coming for quite a while yet.
As we said, the premise is simple: two fan-favorite badasses are about to be married. Naturally, since this is Borderlands 3, it needs to happen on a hellish limbo of a planet. One that is, coincidentally, positively infested with Lovecraftian horrors.
The aptly named planet of Xylourgos features the usual batch of Borderlands beasties, but also the dead-but-dreaming corpse of a previously slain Vault Monster. We're getting some R'lyeh vibes already, with a dash of Mountains of Madness sprinkled on top. With the corpse decaying, there developed a veritable cult to worship it. It will be up to Vault Hunters themselves to keep Hammerlock and Jakobs safe during their stint at Xylourgos.
Thankfully, a certain fan-favorite Vault Hunter will be making an appearance to help us out with that!
While we're sorry to be the bearers of bad news, the legendary Mechromancer Gaige and her murderous pal Deathtrap are not going to be playable characters in Guns Love and Tentacles. Indeed, Gearbox confirmed a while back that there would be no additional Vault Hunters coming in the game's DLC, which means we'll be sticking with the original quatrain in Borderlands 3.
Regardless, Gaige will be one of the main characters of this new DLC, so we've got a sneaking suspicion we'll be meeting up with others, too, as Gearbox releases more expansion packs. Naturally, though, we'll have to wait a while longer before we get any further information, but with exciting content on the way, we don't mind much at all!
Somewhat unexpectedly, it seems the Steam release of Borderlands 3 won't be nearly as tumultuous as we may have expected. Set to come to Valve's storefront on the 13th of March, Borderlands 3 will offer full crossplay support between Steam and the Epic Games Store. This means players who supported Gearbox on the game's launch-day will get to enjoy the in-game company of those who have decided to wait for its Steam release!
Great news for matchmaking fans everywhere: this is bound boost the game's player base substantially, to be sure. This is also a very consumer-friendly decision that we can only praise at this point. Good stuff all around.
Hey, remember the admittedly awesome-but-underused Maliwan Blacksite "raid"? We do, and we're still looking forward to more of that awesomeness to make its way into Borderlands 3. Sadly, we'll have to wait 'till May for more Takedown content, but Mayhem Mode 2.0 will be arriving in April, at least.
There doesn't seem to be more endgame coming in Guns Love and Tentacles per se, but we've no doubt we're in for some challenging encounters either way. After all, the level cap is supposed to go up, so there's that.
For the time being, that's all we've got on the Guns Love and Tentacles release, but do be sure to stay tuned as we'll keep updating our article with more info as we get it. If you're about to delve into Borderlands 3 for the first time, believe you us: you're in for a hell of a time!
