Though it's hardly a new announcement, we still wonder from time to time - what is Disintegration, exactly? Because it's not exactly your standard first-person shooter, is it now? This exciting genre hybrid of real-time strategy and shooter games aims to offer something new and not see before. With the game launching very, very soon, we thought to give it a bit of a highlight!
Just below, you're going to find out everything you need to know about the Disintegration game and its features, content, and long-term development plans, as well as about pricing, system requirements, and lots more. Coming from former Halo devs, Disintegration has plenty of pedigree in store, but it's not your garden-variety shooter, either.
Disintegration is not what we first thought it would be. Marketed as the next flagship project of a subset of former Halo devs, Disintegration is anything but ordinary. We'll go over its gameplay mechanics a bit later, but the gist of it is that the game combines real-time strategy features with high-intensity mech-shooting you'd expect out of, say, Titanfall or the like. If you were hoping for Disintegration to be yet another traditional story-driven FPS, we've got bad news. But, if you're in need of something badass and fresh, Disintegration may very well be what you want!
We're not going to go so far as to suggest that Disintegration may establish an all-new genre - yet. Thing is, we're more than happy to give awesome new gameplay mechanics a fair shot. Truth be told, there was a certain other FPS/RTS hybrid not too long ago, but being an indie game, Total Tank Sim just doesn't have the same kind of overwhelming appeal that Disintegration might foster.
Of course, don't take this to mean that Disintegration will make its way to our best-of-2020 list just yet. It might! But we'll wait until we've had our go with it, too. Novelties alone do not imply quality, after all. From what we've seen so far, there's plenty of reasons to be excited, thankfully!
Disintegration release date is slated for the 16th of June 2020. As of writing this article, we're just a few short days away from finally playing it! If you'd like to get the game as soon as possible, just head on over to our store page and grab the pre-launch discount when you get the chance.
As a bonus, you could use the 'COMMUNITY2GAME' discount code to grab an additional 10% off! On the other hand, we do also have the awesome 100% Cashback Promo going on, so check that out! A must-read for those who want to make the most out of their purchase, honestly.
If you're worried whether your gaming rig will be able to run Disintegration properly, we've summarized the system requirements down below!
As you can see, Disintegration won't break the proverbial hardware bank by any stretch. Good optimization? We bet!
Game's main draw is - for sure - its hybridization of the RTS and FPS genres. Basically, players are given control over two separate "toolboxes", for the lack of a better word. The first is their hovering weapons platform - a hoverbike, essentially. The thing is packed to the brim with guns and utilities, making it absolutely essential for moment-to-moment combat. On the flip side, the second "toolbox" is the player's team of robotized combatants. That's where the real-time strategy comes into play!
Players need to juggle their hoverbikes and squads to the best of their abilities, micromanaging their damage output, cover, location, and more. If you ever wanted to start plinking away at your foes while playing a classic real-time strategy game, Disintegration lets you do just that! And then some!
The hoverbike allows players to support their customized squad of robo-men with all sorts of buffs and debuffs, adding a bonus layer of gameplay to the good old RTS titles we all know and love. On the other hand, the fact that players need to carefully manage their ground-bound units means they can't just go all Doom on everyone else. There's a balance to be struck in Disintegration, and that's precisely what makes it so interesting to us!
The Disintegration reviews are few-and-far-between as of yet, but we've come across a particularly snazzy one by Inverse! According to their reviewer, "you can play Disintegration as either an FPS or as an RTS if you want, but you’ll never thrive — or play competitively — until you learn to master both at the same time."
In fact, the game's complexity can seem a bit overwhelming during the acclimatization period: "No matter how good you are at other games, nothing can truly prepare you for Disintegration multiplayer other than the campaign, and that’s just one more way this game sets itself apart from everything else." If that sounds off-putting, then Disintegration isn't for you - of course. However, for those that are chasing after the next monumental genre development in gaming, this is practically heaven.
What we've got in Disintegration is the crux of two separate genres finally coming together in a palatable manner: "There are more robust FPSs and RTSs out there, but merging the two genres in equal measure brings a lot of depth to Disintegration, and it could be the gateway drug that leads gamers to dabble in unfamiliar territory."
That's praise alright, but as we established before: Disintegration straight-up isn't for everybody, and that's perfectly fine!
There's one last thing we'd like to touch upon! If you've not been keeping a close eye on Disintegration's promo materials, you may be worried that the game has no proper singleplayer to speak of. Or, rather, that its singleplayer is nothing more than an intro to the game's more robust multiplayer features. This is a fair concern and one we'd share too, if we didn't see Disintegration's solo mode proper.
Thankfully, this isn't the case at all. Disintegration's solo campaign is a fully-fledged standalone gaming experience that should last you about 12-15 hours of playtime. Its characters are genuinely interesting, and the plot drives itself forward in a way not many modern FPS games allow. There's lots of freedom far as gameplay is concerned, and though the campaign is linear, players will still have plenty of opportunities to make split-second decisions along the way. All in all, a great package! No live-service features here, either. For fans of 'what you see is what you get', Disintegration may well be a dream come true!
If we got you interested in the game, be sure to check it out on our own store page, too. Remember the discount code to get the best possible deal - today!
