It's happening: Black Friday is finally here! It goes without saying that our final BF feature for the year needs to be positively bombastic, and so it is! Just below, you'll find a list of the best 2020 game releases Black Friday discounts and offers! That's right: all-new games that launched earlier this year already have their prices cut massively. Today, we'll show you 10 of them, and we think you're bound to find something new and exciting to keep you busy no matter your preference.
Now, it's worth pointing out that most of these games we've already featured in some of our previous articles. That said, they're total blockbusters and worth as much of our time and space as we can give them. Besides! They're basically fresh-out-of-the-oven. Who doesn't want a cool new game at a heavily discounted price?
Another awesome bonus: use our special discount code during checkout to qualify for an additional 10% off: 'SAVESAVESAVE'.
Control has been one of our favorite games for quite some time now. In fact, we were ridiculously excited for it even pre-launch. Then it came out, blew us away, and continued doing so with its two major expansion packs. The game is an incredible foray into the Weird literary sub-genre, and everyone with even a passing interest in it should play Control.
Generally, this is an unlicensed SCP game given form and direction: a great third-person shooter whose narrative is as weird as its original inspiration would allow. Even if you're not much into stories, though, Control is a 3D Metroidvania game like no other, and a real joy to play through even if only for the protagonist's ever-growing list of paracausal abilities.
Crusader Kings III blends its RPG and grand strategy features phenomenally well and basically supersedes its awesome predecessor in every way that matters. Here lies a game that will take you back into medieval times and allow you to shape the world and its civilizations however you see fit. Or, if that's too ambitious for your tastes, simply deal with a small village's worth of denizens under your rule.
True to their pedigree, the good people over at Paradox Interactive have fostered yet another groundbreaking grand strategy title. Naturally, it will also remain extremely relevant for years to come, owing to its game-changing expansion packs and DLCs. For fans of the genre, there's no greater prize in 2020.
No matter how popular or unpopular the classic FPS genre gets in modern times, the nu-Doom games rule supreme. Its revitalized narrative serves its purpose well enough, we'd say. The purpose, it goes without saying, is phenomenally obvious: to drive Doom Slayer from one bloody clash to another and to ensure that there are just enough demons scattered around for him to pulverize into nothingness.
We won't joke around: stuff like Prodeus is pretty friggin' awesome, but at almost 70% off, Doom Eternal is a real steal and an absolute must-have. Get it, play it, and find yourself yearning for more by the time you're done. Good thing it's as replayable as it is!
When Death Stranding first launched on PC, we lauded its technical appeal. From advanced graphics options all the way to the implementation of incredible new technologies, Death Stranding was one of those games that just got things right. This alone, we think, warrants interest for those who are more technically minded on PC.
Having said that, Death Stranding is also the very first "walking simulator" that can wear that badge with genuine pride. Mobility and movement sit at the heart of this strange Kojima game, and that's not something we often get to see. Another curiosity is that Death Stranding, much like Control, is another strong Weird contender published by 505 Games. Hopefully, there's more to come from them in this sub-genre!
Real-world football may have gotten a red card from the ongoing COVID pandemic, but Electronic Arts' golden goose FIFA wasn't nearly as heavily affected by this development as we thought it would be. Quite the opposite, even: it dominates its competition in many regards and delivers precisely the football gaming experience that fans have come to expect by now.
At over 50% off, FIFA 21 Champions Edition is simply one of those games you'll be drawn to or not. However, we do believe football fans are going to want to make use of the deal while it lasts. This is, after all, FIFA at its best.
All three major Mafia releases got an incredible new lease on life in 2020, courtesy of their Mafia Trilogy refresh. While Mafia II and Mafia III simply got updated with the latest patches and visual tweaks, it was the original Mafia game that got completely remade from the bottom-up. And man, what a looker it turned out to be.
At 25% off, the Mafia Trilogy discount might seem like a worse deal than most others on this list. However, there are three full games and their respective DLCs included in the package, and honestly, the remade Mafia I alone is well worth the price of admission. It really turned out to be everything we hoped it to be.
What can be said about Borderlands 3 that we've not already said? One of the craziest looter-shooters on the market, Borderlands 3 has only just entered its second year of content with a twist and a turn. While the first Season Pass delivered four major new expansion packs, Season Pass 2 sets its sights on extra game-modes, skill trees, and - yes - endgame.
That's not to everyone's liking, we're aware, but it's not like you need to deal with that, anyway. At very nearly 70% off, the baseline Borderlands 3 experience will offer literally dozens of hours of awesomely ridiculous gameplay and more looty-shooty that you could honestly be asking for. It's great!
Project Cars 3 is the next major evolution of the now-household sim name, and the series has definitely changed gears in 2020. The game is astonishingly beautiful and though it does lean a tad more heavily towards the arcade side of things, it's still a phenomenal sim-lite you should be gunning for.
As it stands, we won't say it completely invalidates its two predecessors, but if you're going to try playing a Project Cars game, this will be your best bet for sure.
A continuation of Capcom's renewed interest in full-scale recreations of their classic games, Resident Evil 3 Remake is a delightfully focused and dynamic experience. We will say that it's more action-oriented than RE2R, but that's true-to-form compared to the game's original releases anyway.
What you're getting here is one of the best third-person Resident Evil games we've had yet. Whether it outpaces its predecessor or not is a can of worms we won't open here, but if you enjoyed RE2R, this should be your obvious next stop.
Persona 4 Golden came as a bit of a surprise back in June, but a lovely one for sure. One of the first ATLUS titles ever to launch on PC, P4G gave PC fans of the classic console franchise hope that there might be more coming down the line. As of today, not much has happened on that front, but who knows!
Setting implied promises aside for a bit, Persona 4 Golden is a highlight of the series. It's got a polished visual presentation - even more so on PC - a great narrative, and a fun cast of characters that are essentially emblematic of the franchise as a whole. It's great, is what we're saying, and you should nab it!
What a list of games, right? Truthfully, it's been a heck of a year, and the pandemic is still going strong. In these trying times, many of us take solace in gaming and in our ability to visit these incredible virtual realities at our own pace. Nothing quite like a small slice of peace and quiet, fictional or not.
With this list of 2020 game releases for Black Friday, you too will be able to enjoy some of the industry's latest and greatest at merely a fraction of the default asking price. Should none of these have tickled your fancy, you may wanna check out some of our other deal highlights, instead:
And, of course, we can't forget about our list of Best Gifts for Gamers in 2020. That one's going to be relevant all month long, though you might want to jump on it early: shipping takes time, after all.
Happy gaming!
