The year 2020 is well underway, and though it's had its ups and downs far as worldly events go, it's been phenomenal for gamers! With so many awesome games coming out that it's hard to keep track of 'em, we thought it might be a wise idea to create a shortlist of all the best new PC games you could play right this instant. So, if you're looking for a list of best PC games of 2020, this is just the place to be!
Down below, you'll discover 8 of our 2020 favorites so far - in no particular order. We've got shooters, strategies, RPGs, and more. Most importantly: we'll keep adding to the list as more awesomeness comes out! This means you might want to bookmark this page and stay informed all year long.
There's a bit of a caveat we need to mention for this list. We're including our favorite expansion packs and DLCs, too. Our first idea was to avoid expansions and focus on game releases alone, but with so many incredible DLCs coming out, this ended up being a rather unfair conclusion. Therefore, you're going to see a few older games on this list too, but only in the context of their latest content releases! Should keep everyone happy, we reckon. Anyway, let's get started!
Maneater is badass. This wonderfully short action RPG has its players control a ridiculously powerful and malleable shark as it rampages through one area after another. Developed by Tripwire Interactive, who produced the legendary Killing Floor game series, Maneater is a game all about brutalizing the unsuspecting human populace. One of our favorite games to relax with, especially after we upgraded our monster-shark. Maneater has little-to-no competition right now, and we can only hope Tripwire has more in store for us with similar titles!
Lest we forget, you can use our guide to unlocking each and every set of customizations/body parts for your Maneater! We've even got maps with Landmark locations if that's what you're going after.
Those who've been with us for some time now will know that we're huge fans of anything and everything Firaxis produces. These people know their stuff! They even got two entries in this best new PC games list, so that's rather telling. Thing is, their New Frontier Pass content schedule has us as excited about Civilization VI's future as we possibly could be. With the first major release (Maya and Gran Colombia), we saw that Firaxis has got a fair few tricks up their sleeves, so we're very much looking forward to whatever else they might have in store.
New Frontier Pass is exactly the type of paradigm shift a household name such as Civ should have for 2020. Read up on all the novelties and prepare for a phenomenal year of 4X gaming!
Bethesda is on a roll in 2020, especially far as their flagship MMORPG is concerned. That's right - Elder Scrolls Online: Greymoor is another home-run for the long-lasting multiplayer role-playing game, and a perfect opportunity for players both new and old to dive into their latest ESO adventure! With a focus on vampires and the undead in general, Greymoor offers a somber atmosphere that teeters on the edge of horror! Not that horror is a foreign concept to Elder Scrolls, mind...
For those seeking a head-start in Greymoor, we've got a neat early-game guide to rely on, so we suggest that as your first order of business. Just the thing you need while Greymoor downloads, really. If you're looking for a grade-A MMORPG gaming experience, you'll find no real contender to ESO in 2020!
Ah, Doom Eternal, what would we do without you? Being one of our most hotly-anticipated games of yesteryear, we were almost ready for a mild disappointment. After all, living up to hype is one thing, but living up to the incredible level of hype generated by an all-new 2020 Doom game? Come on, that's borderline impossible. Yet, Eternal did just that, and it blew our socks right off!
Whether it's pure gameplay you're interested in or a rich expansion of established Doom lore, Eternal is an absolute must-play for every profile of gamer. Bethesda has even been so kind as to exclude Denuvo from the game, at the request of players, and they've got big plans for expansion packs and DLCs. What's not to like!
One of the greatest looter-shooters ever created, Borderlands 3 is nothing short of an institution in the genre. We're happy to say that its expansion packs are just as good as the base game, too. Perhaps even better in some respects, even! While 2019 sure has been a major success for Gearbox - the developer - 2020 is looking like a mighty win for Borderlands 3, too. Major expansions keep coming out, and they're practically must-plays, each and every one of them.
The next one's going to have rideable hoverbike-dinosaur hybrids, even! Make of that what you will, and find out everything we know about Bounty of Blood right here at 2Game. For Legendary Gear farming guides and more, we've got plenty to offer as well. All you need to do is - start playing! And read up on what to chase after as the game downloads, of course.
Being an unexpectedly awesome addition to our repertoire of 4X games, Age of Wonders: Planetfall was never going to disappoint far as its DLC was concerned. Our suspicions were quickly proven correct with the Revelations DLC, and further underscored with the recent Invasions DLC. Playing as a race of infiltrator reptiles is not something we knew we needed, but Invasions sure proved that it's immensely fun.
Sure, the game might not be quite as incredibly expansive as Civ 6 is, but it's the type of fun and zany sci-fi ridiculousness that we definitely need more of. Playing it in 2020 is a no-brainer, far as we're concerned!
Here's one you definitely didn't see coming! Thing is, Total Tank Simulator is everything a mainline triple-A release isn't. It's quirky, it's weird, and it's wonderfully inventive. Basically, Total Tank Sim asks you to play with toy soldiers as you did back when you were a kid - in real-time strategy or single-unit first-person mode! Your choice. You can even go and let the AI duke it out while you watch from the sides, which makes for great popcorn-chomping situations.
It's an offbeat choice, to be sure, but we found ourselves enjoying TTS quite a lot in our time with it, and we think you will, too. Word of warning, though: if you're looking to simulate large battles, make sure that your CPU is up-to-par. Things get crazy fast.
The second Firaxis game on our list, XCOM: Chimera Squad was one of those games nobody saw coming, and then it took turn-based strategy gaming of 2020 by storm. An offshoot of the standard XCOM gameplay, Chimera Squad focuses on developing a fixed roster of characters through a number of SWAT-like situations. It's great fun, it's pretty darn inexpensive, and it sets the tone for the inevitable XCOM 3 announcement!
Chimera Squad also features a number of all-new or entirely unique mechanics that aren't likely to make their way into the next mainline XCOM release. Regardless, it made for a very welcome addition to our best-of-2020 selection, and we're happy that Firaxis would experiment with one of their biggest IPs to such an extent.
That's a lot of information, huh? But don't worry, we've got more! If you'd like to learn about all the gaming events 2020 that have been displaced by COVID and its fallout, we've got a rather exhaustive list ready for your consideration. In anticipation of the Bloodborne PC Remastered announcement, we've also cooked up a neat article where we summarized all the leaks, rumors, and expectations we have for the game. Similarly, we've also got a rather massive Assassin's Creed Valhalla article that will teach you everything important about Ubisoft's next blockbuster. Awesome, isn't it?
But that's not all! At the risk of sounding like a Top Shop infomercial, let us present you with a list of awesome game bundles at huge discounts - right here at 2Game! For example, you can get both Rage and Rage 2 for a meager $15! Use it alongside our badass 100% Cashback Promo and you'll quickly fill-out your game library, no matter the platform.
Happy gaming, and stay tuned for more - very soon!
