Due to hit the stores in late October, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 looks like the proper COD sequel we've all been eager to see. Whereas one could've argued that Modern Warfare 3 was more of a standalone expansion for Modern Warfare 2, the story is entirely different with Black Ops 6.

Set in the early 1990s and focused on moving the COD combat formula into the new generation, Black Ops 6 takes a big step away from modern optics systems, guncrafting, and extremely low-drag setups that we see in Modern Warfare titles. Instead, it's all going to look extremely retro in comparison. Think Black Ops - Cold War, now that we think of it, except a tiny bit more modern.

Down below, we've gone into as much detail as we could about the tech level of Black Ops 6's story. So, if you're interested in learning what to expect out of the game's gear, gadgetry, and other such tidbits, this is the place to be. We've even got the full list of available guns!

Black Ops 6 Weapons Explained - When Does the Game Take Place?

As we pointed out above, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 explores an era of combat we've not yet seen in this franchise: the early 1990s. Of course, Black Ops games have always been more about spook-tier operations instead of all-out warfare. To that end, we already have some expectations for the game's arsenal of gear: we know we'll see some of the more exotic and out-there gear that may or may not have been available in the '90s and even early 2000s.

Call of Duty's always taken some amount of freedom in how it depicts gear, but you shouldn't expect to see modern AR-15 variants, the M8, or anything of the type. What should we expect, then?

Are Modern Warfare weapons going to be available in Black Ops 6?

Before we get to discussing the actual guns we'll be using in Black Ops 6, it's important to clarify what's happening with Modern Warfare gear. Now, whereas we could use all of Modern Warfare 2's weapons in all of Modern Warfare 3's new content, this will obviously not be the case in Black Ops 6's campaign and multiplayer modes. For reasons we explained above, seeing weapons armies have only started using over the past couple of years in BO6 would be way too anachronistic even for this franchise.

However, we do know that the perpetual Warzone version of Call of Duty will receive all of Black Ops 6's new, 1990s-era gear. So, if you want to have access to literal hundreds of different attachments, weapons, and gadgets, the Warzone is the place to be.

Full List of Confirmed Black Ops 6 Weapons

It just so happens that we already have a pretty comprehensive list of the weapons available in Black Ops 6. Down below, we've assembled the full list with appropriate categorization, as well as real-world names of the weapons in question. As has been the case over the past couple of years, Call of Duty is all-in on fictionalizing all of its weapons. To that end, the game's weapon monikers won't mean much to you alone.

Note that while we've already seen a bunch of these guns, not all of them have been properly shown off, and so we might not have the in-game naming scheme in place for each and every one of them. Something to keep in mind for future updates! These guns have an asterisk (*) symbol next to them.

Of course, the list of weapons featured in Black Ops 6 on day one will be quite humble compared to, say, Modern Warfare 3. To that end, keep in mind you can assemble custom varieties of every single weapon on this list. The GS45 can, thus, be modded to resemble up to five different variants of the USP45, which adds to the variety by a huge margin.

Black Ops 6 Shotguns

Black Ops 6 Sub-Machine Guns

Black Ops 6 Rifles

Black Ops 6 Sniper Rifles

Black Ops 6 Machine Guns

Black Ops 6 Explosive Weaponry

Some of the gear on this list was, certainly, to be expected. What would a Call of Duty game be without an AR-15 and a Kalashnikov variant, after all? Others, however, such as the SG-550 are some players' old favorites that don't really come up all that often. Having these more exotic retro weapons around is going to be a breath of fresh air, and we can't wait to see what conversions we might be able to come up with after all the extra gun parts are out and about.

Is Black Ops 6 multiplayer going to lay off weapon attachments and other such gadgets?

Now, the really big question we've got to ask about Black Ops 6 is whether the game is going to actually stick to its retro roots and only feature the customization options we had back in the 1990s, or if it's going to be anachronistic as all hell, with minuscule holo-sights, reliable ACOG-type shortscopes, mini-suppressors, and other such modern amenities.

For better or for worse, we already have it on good authority that we will get just about every modern variety of weapon attachment in Black Ops 6's multiplayer and Zombies modes. It's going to be retrowashed, for sure, to make the whole thing seem period-accurate, but the simple truth is that militaries did not use red dot sights willy-nilly in the early '90s.

So, if you're a gear purist, expect to be a tad troubled by what you're going to see in Black Ops 6. For everyone else, the good news is that your favorite attachment niche is bound to be covered, even if it does come with a different, '90s-inspired skin plastered on top.
