Bloodborne PC has been on our collective minds ever since it launched as a PlayStation exclusive. This unique victorian horror game is emblematic of From Software, the people behind the Dark Souls franchise themselves. They used Bloodborne as a stop-gap between two major Souls entries, and what a stop-gap it was. A regular horror slasher at first, Bloodborne quickly amps it up to eleven with cosmic terror. In fact, the game might even be the very best example of Lovecraftian horror done right: that's no small feat!
Don't get us wrong - we're huge fans of Dark Souls. Thing is, Bloodborne fits into a slightly different niche that isn't covered anywhere else. That ought to explain why the prospect of Bloodborne PC is as exciting as it is!
Being able to experience such a monumental game as Bloodborne with maxed-out graphics and at 60 frames-per-second would be unlike anything else. If that sounds too good to be true, we kinda agree, but the rumor mill is relentless! That's right: word on the street is that we might be getting Bloodborne PC sooner rather than later. We'll explain why this might be the case in the paragraphs below, so strap in!
Hypothetically, if Bloodborne PC Remastered were to come to the PC, surely we'd all be wondering about its system requirements, right? Right! Indeed, we're very curious as to how the game would run on a proper PC gaming rig. Given that it would certainly target 60 FPS instead of barely holding up to 30 as it first did, we feel that we might be looking at a heftier game than some might be hoping for. As a reference, let us use the recommended Dark Souls 3 system requirements and go from there!
None too shabby, right? As you can probably tell, Dark Souls 3 relied heavily on strong CPU, and since Dark Souls 3 runs on Bloodborne engine, these requirements are likely to be similar to what we'll get for Bloodborne PC Remastered. We anticipate a higher GPU and RAM requirement if nothing else, but these should give you a solid idea of what to expect!
Having said all of the above, it's worth pointing out that there's been absolutely no official word on Bloodborne PC. Yet. People have been asking for it ever since its PlayStation launch, though, so it's rather obvious that the audience is present and accounted for. If nothing else, releasing Bloodborne PC does make financial sense, in all likelihood. That's not what we're interested in, though! It's hardly new info, for one. What is new, though, is the surprisingly substantial whirlwind of rumors we've been seeing lately!
We're not talking about an odd mention of Bloodborne PC here and there, either. According to popular Twitch streamer CaseyExplosion, we should've heard of Bloodborne Remastered for PC and PlayStation 5 already. The announcement was - apparently - supposed to come as part of the canceled/delayed PS5 event scheduled for the 5th of June. CaseyExplosion got quite a substantial info drop on it, too.
Apparently, it's not From Software who will be doing the Remaster, for starters: "The company doing the remaster are one that I have a huge amount of faith in judging by other games they've ported. I will not share who that company is, but you sincerely won't be let down," she said. From a different source, we found out that it's Bluepoint Games and QLOC, who previously produced the Dark Souls Remaster.
As for her source, here's how CaseyExplosion got the information in the first place: "I offered $100 donation to a charity if someone leaked me something juicy about the long rumoured Bloodborne PC port, and someone I trust gave me the details."
Further, she also has the release date, but she opted not to share that. Yet!
Alright, we fully understand if you're hyped as all hell to get started with Bloodborne PC Remastered. Thing is, it's unlikely to be coming out all that soon. In fact, the official announcement is yet pending! If you just can't help yourself and you absolutely, positively need to play Bloodborne on PC today, we do have a solution.
Its name is PlayStation Now, and it's a GeForce Now/Stadia sort of service which allows you to stream PS games to your PC! Granted, you will need a controller of some sort, but this does allow you to essentially run a Bloodborne PC Emulator right this instant. You will, however, have to deal with all the limitations a PS4 would come with. This means a shoddy 30 FPS framerate, and micro stutter/lag caused by connectivity issues. It's better than nothing, however!
Technically, there is, but you need to understand that it's quite far from offering the type of experience you'd get with, say, PCSX2 for PS2 or Citra for N3DS. The only PlayStation 4 emulator we have any real confidence in at this moment is Orbital. Thing is, it's currently not capable of running commercial games, and it's still in very early stages of development. Eventually, we'll get there, but we're sure that Bloodborne PC Remastered will come sooner!
As we said at the very beginning of the article, Bloodborne is unique. Having the opportunity to play such a unique take on alien invasions and cosmic, Lovecraftian horror is not something we should be taking in vain! Platform-exclusive game releases are necessary for a variety of reasons, but with PlayStation 4 getting depreciated in just a few short months, and with previous PS exclusives getting PC releases, we do think Bloodborne should be brought forward as well.
The game is nothing short of monumental for a variety of reasons, and it stands unique even when compared to the rest of From Software's rich selection of titles. Much like Sekiro, but more impressive in may regards! In fact, we're looking forward to Bloodborne PC Remastered more than we are to the hypothetical Dark Souls 4! And that's telling something.
Soulslikes are all well and good, but Bloodborne is something else. And Bloodborne on PC would be monumental - make no mistake. Stay tuned for news as we get it, and check out what we know about the upcoming Resident Evil 8, too!
