Though we've already gone over how to get a basically infinite amount of Lockpicks in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, the topic of lockpicking in general is certainly worth a second look, too. You see, this is the single most important mini-game in the entire experience, and you will keep doing it over and over (and over) again as you progress through Cyrodill. Crucially, Oblivion's lockpicking is also much different from that of Skyrim and even the Fallout games, so your muscle memory doesn't apply.
If you find yourself continuously breaking all the Lockpicks you hoard, this is absolutely the place to be. Though Oblivion's lockpicking isn't art as such, it isn't too far from it, either, and there's a trick to getting it done no matter the lock difficulty.
Believe it or not, the simplest and most straightforward way to lockpick in Oblivion is to carefully listen to how the lock is behaving. Using your mouse, you need to nudge the Lockpick itself left and right from one tumbler to the next, then push them up and lock them in with left-click. This is quite easy when you only have one or two tumblers to work with, but as the difficulty of the lock goes up, so too does the number of tumblers you've got to contend with. Further, if you mess up one tumbler, all of them come crashing down (unless you're an Apprentice in Security, but that's a different can of worms).
Back on track, the trick is in listening to the noises the tumblers are making. When it's just the right time to lock a tumbler in place, you'll hear its clicking noise increasing in pitch. It's a slight difference, to be sure, but it's absolutely there, and you will inevitably start making the distinction, now that you know what to listen for.
There's more, though: a different trick that might be handy for those who just cannot reliably discern the tumblers' noises is to look for the way they are falling. There are varying speeds at which they drop down from the locked position, and in our testing, the drop after the very fast one will always or almost always be slow. It is much easier to lock in the tumbler when it is slowly dropping, so this is something to look out for.
Alternatively, if you've got a healthy enough supply of Lockpicks or an actual Deadric Skeleton Key at hand, you can just go ham spamming the 'R' key during the lockpicking minigame. This will eventually open the lock for you, but every failure destroys a single Lockpick, so that's something to consider.
The infamous minigame is back with a vengeance.
Even though the original 2013 Lords of the Fallen wasn't all anything to write home about, the hybridized sequel and remake is an entirely different story. Phenomenally sleek and with some of the most important quality-of-life upgrades we've yet seen in true Soulslike titles, the new Lords of the Fallen is a must-play title for fans of the genre. Now that its massive 2.0 content update has released, though, it's even more of a shocker how good it actually is.
If you're unaware of Lords of the Fallen's fancy new 2.0 update and can't make heads nor tails of it, we've got you covered. Down below, we've featured not just the official 5-minute overview video, but also a comprehensive list of our own. So, whether you can watch what Lords of the Fallen 2.0 is about or not, this article will still give you all the info you need to decide if the game is a good fit at last. Let's get to it.
Some context first: even though the final and most considerable part of Lords of the Fallen 2.0 has only just released, the developer CI Games has been hard at work over the past month setting the stage for this grand update. Lords of the Fallen has received no less than 50 (!) patches, rebalances, and improvement batches since its 1.0 build launched.
What this means is that, even if you did check out Lords of the Fallen back in 2023 only to dislike it, the odds are pretty darn good you'll have a change of heart with the 2.0 update. Don't believes us (and don't want to watch the video above)? No problem, here's a list of all the improvements since the last title update:
All of this is to say that Lords of the Fallen 2.0 is basically a comprehensive revamp of virtually every critique you might've had of the game at some point. It also makes its precedent-breaking co-op multiplayer even better than it's ever been. And on that note...
The Friends' Pass is one of the most important novelties in Lords of the Fallen 2.0. Believe it or not, it's effectively a free pass for one of your buddies to jump into the game and play with you even if they themselves don't own a copy.
That's right, folks: one Lords of the Fallen copy now counts for two games' worth of playtime. the way it works is that the license owner can invite one other player to join their adventure at any given time. As the joining player doesn't need to own Lords of the Fallen themselves, they won't be able to play on their own in solo mode until they purchase their own copy. In the interim, though, they can jump into your game whenever they want, and will keep all their progression, unlocks, and modifications as they proceed.
Lords, fallen again.
If you've read our Picto leveling guide (and if not, go do that—it’ll come in handy), you know that mastering Pictos unlocks something far more valuable than just stat boosts. It unlocks Luminas.
Luminas aren’t just fancy names for effects; they’re passive abilities that stick with your team permanently, even if you unequip the original Picto. But what exactly are Luminas?
Here's a breakdown, including how to activate Luminas, and why they're the sauce that spices up your squad.
Think of Luminas as the essence of a Picto. Once you’ve used a Picto in four battles and mastered it, it reveals its true nature - its Lumina effect. This Lumina effect might be a critical rate boost, passive healing, elemental resistance, or something entirely unique.
The best part? You don’t have to keep the Picto equipped to use the Lumina. Once activated, this bad boy becomes part of your character’s permanent toolkit. It’s like the game’s way of saying, “Nice job experimenting—here’s your reward.”
Here’s the catch: to activate Luminas, you need Lumina Points. You get one Lumina Point per level, per character, so it’s limited, which means making strategic choices.
When you open the Lumina tab in the Pictos screen, you’ll see a list of all the Luminas your party has unlocked. From there, you can spend your points to activate any of them, regardless of whether the original Picto is equipped or not.
Just keep in mind: you're only activating the Lumina effect, not the full stat boost that the Picto offered when equipped.
To be specific, activating a Lumina grants the passive ability tied to that Picto—such as bonus crit rate, passive healing, or elemental resistance—but not the base stat increases (like HP, Attack Power, or Defense) that come with equipping the Picto. Those stat bonuses are exclusive to the gear itself. So, if you unequip the Picto, the raw stats go with it.
In a game where your party is constantly evolving, and enemy encounters are known to throw curveballs, Luminas give you flexibility, letting you build specialized characters without being locked into gear choices. They also reward creativity; trying out oddball Pictos to see what Luminas they unlock is sometimes the key to revolutionizing your approach to combat.
Basically, if Pictos are your gear, Luminas are your growth. They’re what turn a solid setup into a finely-tuned machine. And, when the Paintress starts throwing her worst at you, you’ll be glad your Luminas are locked and loaded!
Lock and load your Luminas!
Weirdness is the name of the game in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and while this is most plainly obvious when it comes to world design, there's no shortage of strange, out-there enemies either. Take the Mimes, for example: these creepy, lonesome figures stalk both the island-city of Lumiere and the Continent proper, and though they'll never attack the Expedition directly, they do dish out serious punishment if you seek them out.
Thing is, defeating Mimes grants players unique unlocks and cosmetic options for the Expedition members on top of the usual assortment of loot goodies. This makes them an excellent optional encounter for those who are interested in outfitting the Expedition members with different attires and haircuts. Here's what you need to know.
Mimes are basically totally optional side-bosses you may or may not come across in Claire Obscur: Expedition 33. They're usually tucked away into hidden corners of the level, and unlike most other enemies in the game, won't chase after you or even goad you into open combat. Instead, it's up to the Expedition to engage Mimes in combat. It's for the best, really, considering how chunky and powerful the Mimes are.
Now, while they shouldn't be underestimated, the good thing about Mimes is that they remain precisely the same throughout the entire Expedition 33. In this game's combat encounters, the most challenging bit is usually avoiding the enemies' attacks and learning their patterns by heart. Since Mimes do not change at all, it won't take long before you're perfectly familiar with them, and at once you've got dodges down pat, it's only a matter of whittling down their massive health pools one turn at a time.
There are some tricks in the Mimes' repertoire though. Sometimes, you'll have to fight a Mime alongside a few other creatures, or even two Mimes at a time. The final Sunless Cliffs Mime is similarly tricky in the sense that you can only fight it with a single character, so do be prepared for a twist every so often.
These are all the Mimes we've found in Expedition 33 so far, though do note that we might've missed a few. We'll update this list with more in case they pop up, so check back in every so often if you're a completionist!
Oh, you thought the rest of the game was weird?
If you've started your journey through the beautifully haunting world of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, you've probably already realized just how important Pictos are. These mysterious pieces of equipment don’t just give your characters stat boosts—they evolve with you. And once they’re mastered, you're cooking! Unlocking powerful passive effects called Lumina, mastered Pictos can dramatically shift your party's performance.
So, if you're looking to level up Pictos fast, here's a streamlined strategy guide to help you get those Lumina bonuses early and often.
In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Pictos aren’t just gear—they’re your ticket to game-changing boosts. Each Picto grants passive stat bonuses when equipped, and every character can use up to three at a time. But here’s where things get interesting: Once you’ve used a Picto in four battles, it becomes Mastered and unlocks its Lumina effect.
You can find Pictos by exploring the world and defeating enemies. Keep an eye out for light blue glowing loot, often hidden in less obvious spots, or check your battle loot screen after victories. That said, not all Pictos are found so easily, some are tied to specific quests or powerful enemies. For instance, the late-game “Cheater” Picto is obtained by defeating a unique enemy named Sprung.
It’s worth taking the time to explore thoroughly because even early-game Pictos can surprise you with their usefulness.
Once a Picto is Mastered, its Lumina effect is unlocked. These passive bonuses can significantly boost your party’s performance. There's just one key thing to remember: You need Lumina Points to activate the power of Pictos.
You earn one Lumina Point per character level, which means you’ll need to carefully allocate these points to unlock the best Lumina effects. Balancing your points across characters and Pictos is essential for optimal performance.
To equip Luminas, go to the Lumina menu in the Pictos screen. From there, you can assign Lumina Points to any unlocked effects, even if the original Picto isn't currently equipped.
Keep in mind, though, that activating a Lumina doesn’t give you the full stat boost from the Picto itself—only the specific bonus listed in the Lumina menu. Also worth noting: while many Luminas can be freely activated once unlocked, certain powerful late-game Luminas may require a significant number of Lumina Points or have additional conditions for activation.
Should you keep a Picto equipped for its stat boost or spread your Lumina Points across multiple characters? This is a matter of strategy, but by spreading your Lumina Points across several characters, aiming for a balanced set of abilities, you'll effectively enhance your entire team, which can be more effective than doubling up on the same bonus.
In general, mastering a variety of Pictos early on gives you more Lumina effects to choose from, offering flexibility to tailor your team’s strengths to different challenges. Once Luminas are activated, their bonuses remain active even when the Picto is unequipped, unlocking even more options for customizable character builds as your team evolves.
You don’t need to grind endlessly to master Pictos, you just need a plan. Here’s how to level up Pictos quickly:
Once a Picto is mastered, you’ll see a small icon appear next to its name, and its Lumina effect will be unlocked. Here’s a simple way to stay organized:
Mastering Pictos isn’t just a side activity for completionists, it’s a game-changing mechanic that empowers your entire squad. Whether you’re fine-tuning builds for efficiency or gearing up for high-stakes boss battles, unlocking and activating Lumina effects gives you a serious tactical advantage.
And don't overlook those early-game Pictos. Thanks to Lumina bonuses that stay active even when the gear is unequipped, they can pack a punch when mastered. Truly, every Picto you level up adds lasting value to your arsenal.
Best of all, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 encourages experimentation. So, try out different Picto combinations, find synergies that suit your playstyle, and watch your team evolve into a finely tuned force. After all, you've got to stay sharp if you're to conquer the Paintress!
Master Pictos, defeat the Paintress!
As a total paratrooper in the role-playing genre, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 had a whole bunch of expectations to deliver on. Whereas a lesser franchise might choose to keep things neat, simple, and straightforward from a backstory point of view, Expedition 33 instead goes all-out with a setup that even the weirdest of Weird media wouldn't be ashamed of. Oh, sure enough, the story is strange, and that's precisely what makes it so interesting.
We're not about to go knee-deep into spoiler territory here, then, but you're absolutely going to need to be aware of some key terminology in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, as the game doesn't go out of its way to explain itself. For example, though you may hear about the infamous Fracture, no one's going to outright explain it to you. So, here's the jig.
The Fracture is Clair Obscur: Expedition 33's defining catastrophe. This world-changing event took place exactly 67 years before Expedition 33 sets off to hunt down and kill the Paintress, and it effectively isolated the city of Lumiere from the rest of the mainland Continent. The exact what, why, and how of the Fracture gets explained later on in Expedition 33, but the gist of it is quite simple, then: it's a civilization-ending disaster that sets up the end of humanity.
Following the events of the Fracture, both Lumiere and the Continent were effectively ruined, and the Paintress kept counting down from 100 (or 0, as it were), wiping out all humans of the numbered age as she went.
There are more complications to keep in mind along the way, naturally. Like who the mysterious old killer was, what's up with all those Nevron creatures, and what was it that triggered the Fracture in the first place. We promise: you do not expect the answers you'll be given, and this is easily one of Expedition 33's strongest suits. Just be prepared for a whole bunch of Weird along the way!
Oh, you thought you knew Weird?
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 kicks things off basically in medias res, with not much in the way of exposition waiting for you. That's both a good thing and a bad thing, as the game feels much more organic without throwing three novels' worth of backstory your way. At the same time, you're bound to feel lost for a little while.
One of the ways in which Expedition 33 gives you at least some context on what's going on is via Antoine's surprise pre-Expedition quiz. Featuring just three short questions that you may or may not be able to correctly answer, Antoine's quiz does have a rather handy reward: a prize Token to spend in one of the stalls just behind Antoine.
To be fair, Antoine's pre-Expedition quiz isn't too challenging to figure out, and Antoine himself gives you more context on the story behind these events via regular dialogue, but you're probably going to want that Token the guy's offering, so why not get it right on your first go? Here are all the correct responses to Antoine's questions:
Answering all three of these questions correctly has Antoine give Gustave his festival Token, which can then be spent on a strange old key, a weird Picto, and a questionable new hairstyle for Gustave. You don't seem to be able to get these items later down the line, so we recommend chasing down the two remaining festival Tokens by speaking to all the nearby NPCs, to boot, and grabbing all three prizes along the way.
A bonus Token? Why, yes, I’ll take that.
As you may or may not know by now, 2Game is a big fan of Giants Software's now-legendary Farming Simulator franchise. As Farming Simulator 2025 continues to improve and evolve, though, we've made a point of highlighting a variety of other projects Giants is actively partaking in. The phenomenally promising Project Motor Racing, for example, is a notable high-point!
Amidst all that, one of the most delightful little side-projects that might've gone under your radar, too, is Farming Simulator 16-bit, one of Giants' wildest-ever releases. You didn't misread the title, either: Farming Simulator 16-bit is a kind of a side-release to Farming Simulator 2025 that re-contextualizes the process of farming for a classic 16-bit gameplay loop. If that sounds interesting, we've got you covered, but there's more, and the infographic featured below gives you a solid idea of what's up.
That's right, folks: while you certainly can purchase a regular downloadable version of Farming Simulator 16-Bit for PC, Giants Software has now gone a step further by offering a special one-off limited edition promo. Set and primed to launch on May 15, 2025, Giants' and Strictly Limited's special physical versions of the game.
These are unique, bespoke SEGA Mega Drive / Genesis platform cartridges (with support for other retro hardware of the type) that will allow you to play Farming Simulator 16-Bit on your beloved legacy devices. Exciting stuff, especially if you're a collector!
The kicker is that these aren't going to be cheap:
Both are going to available exclusively via the Strictly Limited storefront, and as may already be implied, there's only going to be a stock of 1,000 cartridges for each of these packages.
"When the idea for a Mega Drive version came up, I knew it was a unique, almost once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," said Renzo Thönen of Giants Software. "As a retro gamer and hobbyist retro developer, I just had to jump at the chance to not only contribute to the game, but actually make it."
"I programmed the game in C and used SGDK, an open-source development kit specifically made to create Sega Mega Drive/Genesis games. SGDK took care of most of the low-level stuff, allowing me to concentrate on the game."
For maximum vibes, Thönen recommends enjoying Farming Simulator 16-Bit on an appropriately specced-out CRT monitor. And look, if you're chasing down a SEGA Genesis cartridge to enjoy in 2025, you probably already have an awesome CRT to begin with. You know who you are.
