Since alchemy is a big deal in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, finding exotic ingredients is important as well! The thing about some of these ingredients, like the infamous Glow Dust, is that they drop from very specific enemies that won't spawn until you're well into the mid-game progression levels.

To that end, you won't be able to get Glow Dust reliably in Oblivion Remastered until you're at least level 9, but optimally level 11. Why that is the case and how to occasionally get around these requirements, we'll explain below.

Where to get Glow Dust in Oblivion Remastered?

Glow Dust is a unique monster drop in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion and Oblivion Remastered. It is dropped exclusively by the Will-o-the-Wisp, which isn't commonly found until you've reached character level 11 or above. They will sometimes spawn as boss-tier encounters from level 9 onwards, however, which makes Glow Dust slightly more attainable even earlier than level 11.

After reaching level 11, Will-o-the-Wisps will begin to spawn outdoors in swampy areas, which will make Glow Dust relatively easy to get from that point on. Before that, the only way to get Glow Dust is to grab it from bespoke spawn locations, or to hunt down quest-specific Will-o-the-Wisp spawns, which is obviously less than ideal. Glow Dust is thus very rare early on in Oblivion Remastered. Here are all reliable the spots where you can grab some Glow Dust before you're level 9:

Further, you'll be able to fight three Will-o-the-Wisps at Azura's Shrine and the Swampy Cave, but they will only spawn after the Blood of the Daedra and the Mystery at Harlun's Watch quests have been started, respectively.

All of this is to say that you won't have reliable access to Glow Dust in Oblivion Remastered until you've reached level 9 at least, which is also when the resource will begin to spawn as part of randomized Monster Loot chests.

How do you not see it? It’s glowing!

Lockpicking is a huge aspect of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered. Even if you're role-playing a goody-two-shoes that never steals, a bunch of chests and doors you come across in dungeoneering will be locked. So, you do need a steady supply of lockpicks no matter what.

Where do you find them, though? Well, we've got all the info you need down below!

How and where to get Lockpicks in Oblivion Remastered?

Lockpicks are a curious resource in Oblivion: very few traders on the up-and-up stock them, but you'll find them basically wherever you go. Just not in massive quantities. Since they break fast, you need a healthy supply wherever you go, which means you need a proper fence.

The easiest way to get a bunch of lockpicks as soon as possible in Oblivion is to head on over to Chestnut Handy Stables outside the Imperial City, and then head northeast along the walls of the city. Keep trekking until you come across an obviously shady black-clad hooded figure: that's Shady Sam, and he's going to be your go-to lockpick and poison trader.

Shady Sam has 30 lockpicks in store per reset, which is a solid enough amount for regular adventuring. Especially since lockpicks also drop as random loot items every so often. That being said, we highly recommend hunting down the Skeleton Key as soon as possible.

We're not in the business of spoiling fun quests, but progress your character up to level 10 and then head to the north of Leyawiin until you come across a Shrine to Nocturnal. Complete the attached quests and thank us later, as the Skeleton Key is basically an infinite-use lockpick. Have fun!

Lockpick Cheat Code in Oblivion

One last-resort option you might choose to peruse is the phenomenally useful lockpick cheat-code for both the original Oblivion and the Oblivion Remastered. Drop down the command line using the 'Tilde' key on your keyboard and input the following command:

Doing so will add 1,000 lockpicks to your inventory, though it will also preclude you from unlocking any further Achievements in your current playthrough. This can obviously be side-stepped with mods, so your mileage on this cheat's usefulness will vary!

Wait, how do you lockpick an ancient Ayelid ruin?

The thing about The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered is that it is an honest-to-goodness old-school sandbox RPG. Sure, it's been given a fancy new lick of paint, but the nitty-gritty of it is very much classic Bethesda, and that means it's very obtuse in some ways. Did you know Oblivion's got a comprehensive disease system in place, for example, with literal vampirism being one of them? Yeah, prepare for a rabbit hole if you're new to this!

In Oblivion, vampirism is known under the name of Porphyric Hemophilia: it's semi-magical in nature, but you actually contract it simply by coming into close-quarters combat with a person that's previously been infected. A vampire, in other words. Obviously, if you're attempting to role-play a vampire in Oblivion, this is something you may wish to pursue, but otherwise, there are some things you ought to keep in mind to cure your character before the disease progresses too far.

Everything You Need to Know About Vampirism in Oblivion Remastered

Oblivion's vampires are a conflicting bunch. A number of these creatures is downright menacing, but not all of them are, and so there's nothing innately turning you evil should you contract Porphyric Hemophilia: it's just a gameplay choice you too might get to make.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim players may recall that this game had entire quest-lines and even DLCs dedicated to vampirism and lycantropism, respectively. No such thing in Oblivion, for better or for worse: vampirism is here effectively just a really fancy, spruced-up disease that you can (but don't have to) cure yourself from. To that end, first we'll go through the mechanics of Porphyric Hemophilia, and then list out its many, many pros and cons in a separate section.

Porphyric Hemophilia explained

The kicker to Oblivion's brand of vampirism is that it's a relatively manageable modifier applied to the rest of your character's skills, stats, and customizations. You can complete the game and a majority of its quests as a genuine vampire, as long as you keep your symptoms under control.

In Oblivion Remastered, you can contract vampirism at random upon taking melee hits from a vampire in combat, as we stated before. Since there are a bunch of vampire lairs strewn throughout Cyrodyll, you do need to be prepared for this eventuality if you wish to avoid contracting the disease, and to that end we highly recommend carrying a few potions of Cure Disease with you at all times.

More broadly, there are three different ways to become a vampire in Oblivion:

The easiest and fastest way will, most certainly, be to visit one of those vampire lairs we mentioned above:

Just head on over to one of these locations and get smacked by a vampire or two: it shouldn't take too long before you've got vampirism of your own!

How to cure Porphyric Hemophilia?

If you've got potions of Cure Disease on you when you contract vampirism, curing it is as simple as drinking one! The game lets you know that you've contracted Porphyric Hemophilia via a relatively easy-to-miss message in the upper left corner of your HUD. We also recommend checking on your character's status in the Magic inventory tab, via the rightmost status sub-tab.

Upon contracting vampirism, you'll have 72 hours before it progresses to a stage where you no longer have the ability to cure it via a Cure Disease status effect. Note that this effect can be applied via potions, spells, and unique ingredients, like the Mandrake Root. Any of these will save you from turning into a vampire, so it's not a huge deal.

If you do not cure your vampirism in 72 hours, though, you will become a full-fledged bloodsucker the next time you sleep.

Pros and Cons of Vampirism in Oblivion

Oblivion Remastered's vampirism progresses in stages, and in a subversion of the trope, the vampire grows stronger the longer they do not feed on humanoid creatures. The issue with this is that this also makes you more obviously monstrous, turning regular NPCs hostile to you on sight. To say nothing of taking extreme sunlight damage.

Upon becoming a vampire, you gain all of the following boons:

0-24 hours from your last feeding you gain:

24-48 hours from your last feeding, you gain:

48-72 hours from your last feeding, you gain:

72+ hours from your lasts feeding, you gain:

Balancing vampirism in Oblivion is a mini-game all of its own, and since the only way to feed is to skulk around people's homes while they sleep, this is basically a gameplay-defining modifier that will change how you approach even the main quest, let alone any of the many optional side-activities.

Most notably, if you keep feeding regularly, most people won't be able to tell you're a vampire.

How to feed as a vampire in Oblivion?

Feeding is quite janky in Oblivion, and this extends to Oblivion Remastered as well. The only way to feed as a vampire is to sneak up to a sleeping humanoid and "activating" them with the 'use' key. This triggers the feeding process, resets your vampirism stage back to the 0-24 hour modifier, and allows you to move on with the rest of your quests.

Obviously, you must not be seen while feeding, because otherwise it will be reported as a crime and trigger a guard huntdown. Not ideal! Also crucial is the fact that you don't actually kill the person you're feeding on, so you can keep coming back to feed on them over and over again, if it is safe to do so.

Are you going to play a vampire in Oblivion?

The crucial thing to remember about vampires in The Elder Scrolls games, and Oblivion in particular, is that it's entirely possible to play most of these games as a creature of the night. The gameplay accommodates the modifier as long as you stay on top of your stats and cons, which makes it an excellent choice for those that really want to role-play vampirism.

Keep in mind that, while there is a way to cure Porphyric Hemophilia after the initial 72-hour period has passed, it's a one-off solution that makes it impossible to turn back into a vampire later down the line. This quest can be triggered by visiting Raminus Polus over at the Arcane University at Skingrad as a vampire. Something to remember as you go about your merry vampiric way. Good luck!

Not even Sheogorath will help you.

In a phenomenal turn of events, we now have a genuine remake/remaster of the legendary Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion! If you're out of the loop and need a quick primer, we recommend reading up on our short fact sheet right here at the 2Game Community Hub. It'll give you a solid if fairly broad idea of what to expect out of Oblivion Remastered.

With that being said, the massive elephant in the room with this game is its performance. Oblivion Remastered is an interesting case because this is still very much the old 2006 original running in parallel with a modern Unreal Engine 5 render engine. In practice, this means the game is not low-spec friendly. In fact, even though Oblivion Remastered is Steam Deck Verified, we don't recommend playing it on the Deck as it currently stands.

This alone paints a picture of what to expect out of TES 4: Oblivion Remastered's performance, but we've got more details, findings, and recommendations to share. So, let's get to it!

Oblivion Remastered doesn't run great if you max it out

Here are the hard facts based on our testing on a variety of gaming machines: The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered doesn't run well if you max it out and enable all the top-end bells and whistles. Our testing has been conducted on the following machines:

All of the listed machines except for the Steam Decks were able to maintain a reasonable level of gameplay quality at reasonable settings, though it's important to remember that we were still GPU limited no matter what we did. If you intend to crank things up to Ultra without frame-gen enabled at a high enough resolution, do not expect high FPS. Instead, our recommendation is to either reduce settings down to Medium/High for 120 FPS performance - more on that below - or to target a more reasonable 40 to 60 FPS performance envelope.

Alternatively, if stability isn't a huge concern, you may well be okay with sub-60 FPS in Cyrodill proper, while your frame-rate reaches 100-120 FPS in regular indoor areas.

Is Oblivion Remastered a good Steam Deck game?

As it currently stands, we do not recommend playing Oblivion Remastered on the Steam Deck. Specifically, though you'll get reasonable gameplay quality (i.e. the relative ratio between image quality, graphics settings, and performance) in the majority of indoor sequences, the open-world is effectively unplayable at this time. 15-20 FPS is not an optimal level of gameplay quality for a game of this caliber, and so we recommend either waiting for future patches, or for third-party performance mods. More on those as they release!

Optimized Oblivion Remastered PC Settings

Now, time for the nitty-gritty. Here's how to get the best possible ratio of performance to graphics on virtually any machine in Oblivion Remastered:

A big caveat to keep in mind here is that GPUs with more ray-tracing grunt than, say, the baseline RTX 4070 or RTX 3080, may wish to enable Lumen Hardware RT. In that case, make sure that you give Frame Generation a shot as well, because this option is going to massively decrease your performance no matter what. It presents a massive uplift in image quality and reactivity, as it is hardware-based ray-tracing, but it's also the biggest performance hog in Oblivion Remastered, and thus won't be a good fit for all rigs.

By following our recommended Oblivion Remastered PC settings, you're going to get the best possible day-one gaming performance, bar none. With that, we do expect performance mods and first-party optimizations to pour in over time, so don't fret if your rig just isn't up to par just yet.

Feels like coming home, warts and all.

The countdown is nearly over. On April 24, 2025, players will finally get their hands on Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the highly anticipated turn-based RPG from Sandfall Interactive—and we can’t wait!

Visually striking and emotionally charged, Expedition 33 blends real-time mechanics with deep character customization, delivering an unforgettable story wrapped in Belle Époque elegance and surreal despair.

But before you attempt to stop the enigmatic Paintress from painting death into reality, there’s one crucial question: Is your PC up for the task?

Here’s what you’ll need to run this stylish RPG the way it was meant to be played.

Pre-Order Your Discounted Copy of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 @ 2Game Today!

What Is Clair Obscur: Expedition 33?

Firstly, in case you’ve missed the whispers in the fog, here’s the deal. Once a year, the Paintress awakens and paints a number — a cursed number that marks a generation for death. This year, she will paint “33.” Turn 33, and you vanish into smoke. Unless she can be stopped, that is. And that’s where you come in. You are part of Expedition 33, and your mission is clear: destroy the Paintress so she can never paint again.

Powered by Unreal Engine 5 and blending tactical turn-based battles with real-time, hands-on action, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is visually stunning and mechanically bold. None of that matters, though, if your system can’t keep up. Here’s what you’ll need to enter the fray.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Minimum System Requirements

If you wish to stand among the Expeditioners, even at the lowest level of readiness, your machine must at least meet these marks:

Thankfully, these minimum requirements are relatively forgiving. If you’re still running mid-tier hardware from the late 2010s, you should be in the clear, although you should expect visuals and framerate to be modest.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Recommended System Requirements

To see the world as the Paintress sees it—vivid, cruel, and heartbreakingly beautiful, you’ll need more than survival - you’ll need power. Here are the recommended specs to get the most out of your experience:

Meet these specs, and the game truly comes alive. We're talking brushstroke skies, haunting enemy designs from the fog-laced Island of Visages to the eerie Forgotten Battlefield, and real-time action sequences that flow like ominous poetry.

SSD Required

And don't forget whether you walk with the bare minimum or command a beast of a machine, an SSD is non-negotiable. Understandable, given the game's ambitious visuals.

Without an SSD, time will fracture. Dodges will lag, counters will miss their beat, and load screens will stretch. Not ideal when an entire generation’s fate hangs in the balance!

The Curtain Rises on April 24th. Will You Be Ready?

With a breathtaking world, layered combat, and a deeply emotional narrative, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is shaping up to be one of 2025’s most unforgettable RPGs. But is your PC ready to face the Paintress?

Whether you're playing on an aging build or a beast of a rig, knowing where you stand performance-wise could mean the difference between survival and oblivion.

The Paintress is stirring. Will your system stand the test of time?

Is Your Rig Ready?

Incredibly enough, it's finally happened: Bethesda Softworks and Virtuous have finally shadowdropped the hotly anticipated and only unofficially revealed The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remaster, and it is available now! If you haven't watched the official showcase, you may wish to catch up using the video featured here, but if you just want the hard facts, this is the place to be.

We've got the official system requirements, full download size, DLC coverage, and a wealth of other information contained down below. So, scroll on down to pore over it and prepare for a long, delightfully arduous trek back into Cyrodill!

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remaster is Out Now

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remaster is currently only available via Steam, though do stay tuned for 2Game availability as soon as we have it in store! With that out of the way, here are the key details.

Oblivion Remaster PC Hardware Requirements

It doesn't take more than a passing glance at the Oblivion Remaster to be able to tell that this is a massively upgraded game across the board. This means it's not going to run on the same tired old hardware that was necessary for the old original. In fact, you're going to need a fairly chunky sort of rig to be able to max it out. For those of us who were there on day one back in 2006, this is nothing new, but newcomers may be taken aback a tad.

Minimum PC System Requirements

Recommended PC System Requirements

As we said: TES 4: Oblivion Remaster is no slouch, though the good news is that the lower end of the supported hardware spectrum is definitely quite long in the tooth now. We'll have a comprehensive performance review of the game ready for you as soon as possible with performance tips, so stick with us!

Oblivion Remaster PC download size

Depending on your Internet speed, TES 4: Oblivion Remaster's massive download size may be the key blocker here. The game clocks in at just over 120 GB once installed, though our download over on Steam is 115.4 GB as of launch day.

What Content is Included in TES 4: Oblivion Remaster?

As you're probably aware, Oblivion had some astonishingly good post-launch content back in the day. Some questionable stuff, too, such as the infamous Horse Armor DLC, but that's a story for a different time.

The important bit here is that the upgraded Deluxe Edition of TES 4: Oblivion Remaster comes with the full suite of DLC for the original title, and then some:

Basically, every single bit of official TES 4 content is present and accounted for. The best possible scenario, if you're a franchise veteran!

With that all out of the way, we've got a huge amount of Oblivion Remaster content planned out for the rest of this week and beyond. Stick around the 2Game Community Hub and see what we've got for you as we go: we promise you won't be disappointed.

Horse armor included!

High fashion for the undead

In case you haven't been experiencing a total and absolute media blackout over the past couple of weeks, you may already know that something is up with Bethesda. As murmurs have it, Bethesda may or may not have teamed up with Virtuous to produce something truly special: an honest-to-goodness official remaster of the legendary Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

Now, Virtuous is a dev-team renowned for something very, very specific: its expertise in overlaying a cutting-edge graphics engine on top of the old game's code. That's precisely what's happening with Metal Gear Solid: Delta, for example, which is also under Virtuous' purview. The specifics are hazy still, to be fair, but this approach is extremely promising if that's how it'll work.

Back on track: we don't yet know what Bethesda is cooking here, but we're about to find out rather quickly. A huge Bethesda showcase is slotted for later today (!), April 22, at 11 AM ET / 8 AM PT / 4 PM BST, and you can watch it just by using the YouTube embed featured below! If you can't, we're going to update this article with all the details and links as soon as the showcase goes live. So, do stay tuned.

Is Bethesda about to reveal a TES 4: Oblivion Remake?

We can't say with absolute certainty what's going to happen during the big Bethesda April showcase, but we do think the official YouTube artwork kind of implies the obvious. The specifics, though, are going to be particularly interesting.

Is Virtuous really producing the (hypothetical still) Oblivion remaster? Is the game a true remaster, or something more along the lines of a proper remake? What does this entail, exactly? Are the expansion packs going to be included in the package, too? How much will it all cost?

Most importantly: when is it coming out?

For answers to at least some of these questions, you're going to want to circle back to this very page in just a few hours' time. See you then!

What do we really, truly know?

Even though the Silent Hill franchise might've been floundering for a long while, the astonishing remake of Silent Hill 2, courtesy of Bloober Team, showed everyone how it's done. That's precisely why we're so excited about the upcoming Silent Hill f. This is an honest-to-goodness sequel (and chronological prequel) to Silent Hill proper, and it comes with a few inbuilt paradigm shifts we've discussed in a dedicated piece.

On that note, a modern video game is more than just its vibes, and so we've got to consider the technical aspects of a new release as well. That's precisely what we're interested in here, then: the specifics. Down below, we've assembled all the details we have about Silent Hill f's PC release date, broader platform coverage, hardware requirements, and beyond. We'll also keep this article up-to-date as more information comes out, so stay tuned!

Silent Hill f PC Release Date

As of late April 2025, Silent Hill f does not have an official launch window outlined yet. That's a bummer, we know, but we at least know for a fact that SHF will be coming out this year, so that's something.

Now, the thing to keep in mind here is that there's every chance SHF is coming out sooner, rather than later. Consider the fact that we've got full and remarkably detailed PC hardware requirements - more on those later - already. Those usually don't get discussed until the game is just a few months out, so we do think it won't be long before the official launch window is shown off.

What platforms is Silent Hill f coming out on?

For those who might not be gaming on PC, note that Silent Hill f is coming out on a wide variety of gaming platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC (via the Microsoft Store, Epic Games Store, and Steam), of course. This means you'll be able to jump straight into SHF no matter what device you game on!

Silent Hill f PC System Requirements

Silent Hill f already has an impressively detailed set of PC hardware requirements in tow, courtesy of the game's official Steam page. This means we have a pretty solid idea of how it should run on modern hardware, going so far as to imagine potential Steam Deck performance. Here are the hard facts!

Minimum Hardware Specs

Silent Hill f's minimum hardware requirements target the 'Performance' quality settings level for a humble 30 FPS at 1280x720.

If this sounds like a pretty steep set of hardware for such a low performance envelope... well, you're not wrong. However, note that Silent Hill 2 was a fairly challenging game to run, too. There are two ways of looking at this: the game is going to be a visual powerhouse, seeming downright photorealistic in some ways, though we may be looking at sub-60 FPS performance in the vast majority of our machines.

On the other hand, Silent Hill has never been extremely action-heavy, and high frame-rates aren't the kind of must-have here that they would be in, say, a Resident Evil title.

Recommended Hardware Specs

As for recommended hardware, Silent Hill f is no slouch here either. Targeting 60 FPS at 'Performance' settings and 30 FPS at 'Quality' settings at 4K with DLSS enabled, here's what you need:

The recommended GPUs are getting long in the tooth now, granted, but the current state of PC gaming hardware makes a solid, reliable RTX 2080 worth its weight in proverbial gold. We'll have a comprehensive performance overview with optimization recommendations ready as soon as we get to spend some time with Silent Hill f, so do stay tuned.

Will Silent Hill f run on the Steam Deck?

Obviously, we are going to test out Silent Hill f on the Steam Deck, but as it currently stands we don't expect it to be a good experience. Getting Silent Hill 2 to work right on the device necessitates third-party modding for it to be a solid experience, and something similar is almost certain to happen with SHF.

Just referencing the minimum PC hardware spec, the Steam Deck is sadly under the baseline based on everything we know so far. More on that as the situation develops, though!
