There's no denying the fact that Capcom released an absolute slam dunk with Monster Hunter Wilds. Arguably the best-ever Monster Hunter game yet, the thing about it is that it's a technically subpar product, to boot. What I mean by this is that it runs way, way worse than it should, based on how it looks.
Nobody expected Monster Hunter Wilds to run all that well, keep in mind. Those of us who were there at day one for World will recall that it, too, ran extremely poorly on the mainstream PC of the day. On top of being thoroughly broken in certain respects. The key expectation, instead, was that the game's graphics would warrant such a massive performance malus. As they did with Dragon's Dogma 2, for example, which looks astonishingly good in comparison.
Instead, what we got in Monster Hunter Wilds 1.0 was a game that looks decidedly last-gen on top of running poorly. Thankfully, the tides are now turning, and Capcom is seemingly hard at work on fixing these problems. Enter Update 1.010 - the very first major patch for the game on PC!
Before getting into the nitty-gritty of what Update 1.010 is all about, jot down its exact release window: it's April 4, 2025 at 3:00 AM UTC. That's April 3, 2025, 8:00 PM PT for those on the other end of the planet.
The download, crucially, is going to be 6 GB on Steam for those with regular textures installed. Those of us running the High Resolution Texture Pack DLC will have a 16 GB download in tow, instead.
Update 1.010's got two big draws to it, in practice. The first is a substantial list of content additions (i.e. new monsters, etc.), and other is a suite of technical improvements to the game's performance. Well, we say "suite," but this really is just Capcom's first proper step towards making Wilds enjoyable to play on sub-par machines.
"Improvements were made to VRAM usage," says the official patch notes log, "and the DirectStorage version has been upgraded."
We're going to thoroughly test these claims over the weekend, but we do think it's important to set the right expectations here: this will not improve your average frame-rate in a meaningful way unless Capcom's changing other things under the hood as well. VRAM usage is for one a very binary thing: either you have enough and it makes no difference to performance, or you don't have enough and you get an extremely problematic 10 FPS bottleneck to how the game runs. DirectStorage, on the other hand, will mainly affect loading and zone passage stutters.
So, improvements for sure, but Capcom is going to need to continue iterating on Monster Hunter Wilds' technical suite for a good long while still. With that out of the way, here are some other notable boons included in Update 1.010:
You can read the full patch notes, which are admittedly rather chunky, using the link to the official blog above. It's a solid showing but, once again, Capcom is going to need to keep this up to get Wilds to a state that the game so obviously deserves.
And that's really the big question, isn't it? Is Capcom going to continue working on Monster Hunter Wilds' technical backend, or are we in for a repeat of what went down with Monster Hunter World? Now, we can obviously run World very, very well on modern machines, but do keep in mind that the game itself is still rather outdated in some key areas. The most egregious example of this being the case is, for example, World's extremely old DLSS 1.0 upscaler, which makes it impossible for players themselves to update or improve upon the upscaler in any meaningful way.
So, fingers crossed that Capcom keeps up what it's been doing so far. Monster Hunter Wilds is a serious contender for 2025's GOTY, provided that we continue seeing further improvements in all pertinent areas, and Capcom has a chance to really make this franchise a must-play on all modern platforms if that happens. Let's hope for the best, and stay tuned for further testing on our end!
Wilder and wilder.

Capcom Classics to play today!
Arcadey twin-stick shooters haven't been the purview of mainstream gaming for quite a long while now. We're all about those massive open-world first and third-person gameplay nowadays, after all, and so who could possibly go back to old, outdated genres in 2025?
Well, the beautiful thing about media is that nothing is ever truly outdated. Just take a gander at the modern indie scene to see pixel-based visuals and platforming proliferating still. That's full decades after the likes of Rain World, Fez, and other such titles dominated the scene.
On that note, isometric twin-stick titles haven't reached quite the same level of ubiquity. What happens if you take that specific niche, create a cutting-edge title built around twin-stick mechanics and arcadey violence, and add a phenomenally satisfying and woefully underappreciated physics system into the mix? You get Deliver At All Costs, that's what.
Older gamers among us may remember that even though the modern Grand Theft Auto is a gargantuan third-person sandbox franchise, that only kicked off properly with GTA 3. Before that, the original two sequential Grand Theft Auto games were played from the overhead point-of-view. The rest of the gameplay loop - the actual act of grand auto thievery - was largely the same, of course.
Curiously, we've barely had an exciting new game of that specific type since then. Sure, there have been unlikely attempts at pulling off something similar to the old GTA of yore, but few panned out. Deliver At All Costs falls into that same category, but it's got a few darned awesome tricks up its proverbial sleeve.
If you couldn't figure out what on earth kind of game Deliver At All Costs was, though, the gist of it is simple: it's an isometric 1959-era twin-stick vehicle action game. It's not fully open-world, at that, but it is zone-based with the ability to control the delivery guy protagonist outside of vehicles, too. A strong story appears to also be in place, but that's hardly the main draw in our book. Instead, it's all about wild, wanton destruction.
We mentioned a little while ago that Deliver At All Costs had a few tricks up its sleeve, and none of them is as prominent and exciting as the game's destruction mechanics. Virtually every single building and construct you come across in this game can be destroyed from the ground-up. Literally! From buildings to water towers, anything will go down if you're driving a capable enough vehicle. Or, perhaps, come equipped with a destructive enough kind of cargo.
And speaking of cargo, even though Deliver At All Costs is ostensibly a reasonably grounded game, it's not without its fair share of wackiness. The protagonist, Winston Green, takes up all manner of odd jobs over the course of the main story. Prime examples include a live (!) marlin flailing about, a fridge with some balloons tied to it, and a live bomb that needs to be disposed of fast, just to list a few.
What you're getting here is prime-time 1950s Americana with an added bonus of arcade wackiness we don't often get to see. What more could a fan of the genre ask for, truly?
You can probably tell by now that we're quite excited about Deliver At All Costs here at 2Game. We obviously don't think this is going to kickstart an open-world twin-stick revolution in any sense, but the sheer quality and variety of content on show here is staggering. Frankly, it just looks like a fun game, and sometimes that's all you really need.
Between fun driving mechanics, an infinitely entertaining destruction gimmick, and outrageous mission design, there's no doubt in our mind about Deliver At All Costs' value to the actual gamers. Now, as for whether people will rush to pick up a twin-stick open world action game, that's an entirely different story. For what it's worth, we'll be there on day one come May 22, and we can't wait to play the game.
If you feel the same, do stay tuned for further coverage and special Deliver At All Costs content right here at the community hub. From guides to Steam Deck performance tests, you know we've got you covered across the board.
That’s right, folks. All costs.
OK, we get it. You've finished Metaphor: Refantazio and are looking for a new JRPG to sink your teeth into. Don’t worry—we've got you covered!
Metaphor: Refantazio is pretty distinct with its fantasy setting and unique job class system. However, its combination of character-driven stories and challenging combat are deeply planted in a broader tradition of Atlus RPGs and other JRPGs, which is good news for Metaphor fans looking for your next hit!
Whether you’re after deep storytelling, strategic turn-based battles, or stylish RPG action, here are some awesome alternatives to scratch that Metaphor itch:
While Metaphor blends real-time exploration and turn-based combat, SMT V leans fully into tactical, turn-based battles where exploiting weaknesses is key. Its massive demon fusion system lets you tailor your team to your playstyle, making it perfect for those who enjoyed Metaphor's deep combat mechanics.
But while Metaphor leans into social interactions and calendar management, Shin Megami Tensei V plunges you into a darker, post-apocalyptic world, taking customization to another level with its expansive demon recruitment and fusion system.
For Metaphor fans who thrive on tough battles, Nocturne’s infamous Press Turn system demands smart strategy in every encounter.
Coupled with a philosophical narrative that makes every choice feel weighty, Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne delivers an intense and punishing experience that Metaphor fans will find both familiar and rewarding.
Persona 5 Royal is a must-play for fans of Metaphor’s social simulation. Like Metaphor, it challenges you to juggle combat and social life, but while Metaphor crafts a grand fantasy world, Persona 5 Royal takes a modern approach, balancing student life with high-stakes heists in a stylish, fast-paced urban setting.
By day, you're a high school student; by night, you fight to change the hearts of villains. Expect slick turn-based combat, a dynamic cast, and a killer jazz soundtrack - plus expanded third-semester content packed with even more drama, depth, and action.
If you’re after more grounded, emotional storytelling, Persona 3 Reload offers a darker, more somber contrast to Metaphor’s tone. Both games tie powerful allies to personal growth and relationships, but Persona 3 Reload leans into darker themes and a tragic narrative.
Set in a world where the eerie Dark Hour hides lurking dangers, Persona 3 Reload explores the psychological toll of facing mortality. With updated 3D graphics, cinematic scenes, and enhanced gameplay, this version of Persona 3 delivers a haunting, unforgettable experience.
If you loved the duality of combat and social interaction in Metaphor, Persona 3 Reload's balance of dungeon crawling and managing relationships will keep you hooked.
Want a Persona game that mixes mystery with heartfelt moments? Persona 4 Golden nails it. Like Metaphor, the game emphasizes relationships, but the vibe is more laid back.
With vibrant visuals, a nostalgic soundtrack, and fresh activities, Persona 4 Golden delivers the perfect blend of adventure, camaraderie, and suspense as you join friends to uncover a murder mystery in a small rural town. Despite its dark mystery, the game's warmth and charm make this a must-play for Metaphor fans of heartfelt RPGs.
While Metaphor mixes real-time action with turn-based mechanics, Etrian Odyssey sticks to classic, hardcore turn-based strategy, challenging you to plan every move as you build your team and tackle increasingly difficult dungeons.
Unlike Metaphor, which balances narrative and combat, Etrian Odyssey focuses on pure dungeon exploration. Its class customization is incredibly deep, appealing to Metaphor fans who loved experimenting with different builds
This old-school RPG lets you forge your own path through a labyrinthine world, making it a perfect fit for Metaphor fans who crave character growth and customization.
We’ve all been there—you finish an incredible game, squeeze every last drop out of the experience, and suddenly, you don’t know what to play next. You want something similar but with a fresh twist. Well, that’s where we come in!
If you’re chasing that Metaphor magic—whether it’s deep combat, a mix of social simulation and dungeon crawling, or the chance to forge meaningful character bonds—these RPGs have you covered.
With such gripping gameplay experiences, these titles will not only fill the void but might just spark your next obsession!
Enjoy, and happy gaming!

There’s no denying it—Monster Hunter Wilds has been a runaway success for Capcom, smashing records with over 10 million copies sold in its first month. And it’s easy to see why.
With its jaw-dropping monster roster, breathtaking ecosystems, heart-pounding battles, and game-changing features like crossplay, seamless transitions, and the innovative Focus Mode, Wilds is quickly becoming the standout game of the series. Truly, if you haven’t yet embraced the mayhem, you should!
But as exhilarating as the hunt is, the ride hasn’t been without its bumps, with many PC players facing frustrating performance issues that have marred what should be a smooth, monster-slaying experience.
If you’re a PC hunter feeling the pain, Capcom’s got your back. The first major Wilds update, arriving on April 4, promises critical improvements to game stability, VRAM optimization, and DirectStorage enhancements.
While it might not solve every problem, it's a significant step toward making Wilds the seamless adventure it was meant to be. And that’s something we’re all excited to see!
OK, it’s not great when the heat’s coming from more than just fire-breathing monsters - especially when it’s from an overworked GPU! But don't fear, Capcom’s April 4th fixes aim to cool things down. According to game director Yuya Tokuda, here’s some of what to expect in the first major update:
VRAM Usage Reduction – If Wilds has been feasting on your VRAM, there’s good news. The upcoming patch aims to cut down memory consumption, giving mid-range GPUs some much-needed breathing room.
DirectStorage Upgrade – An updated DirectStorage implementation should reduce load times and improve texture streaming, meaning less time staring at loading screens, and more time slaying wild beasts.
Ongoing Stability Improvements – This isn’t the end of the road. Capcom promises continued refinements, with more tweaks and optimizations down the line.
While Capcom hasn’t dropped hard performance stats yet, for players dealing with crashes, frame dips, and that weird stuttering that makes dodging dodgy, these changes should bring some much-needed relief, resulting in a smoother, more stable hunting experience.
While PC performance updates are the headliner, Capcom’s also rolling out gameplay enhancements to enrich your hunting experience:
Weapon Balance Adjustments – Weapons will get fine-tuned over multiple updates, smoothing out combat flow and making sure no tool in your arsenal goes to rust. Whether you're a Long Sword master or a Hammer enthusiast, expect subtle but meaningful changes to help up your game.
UI & Quality-of-Life Enhancements – Managing your inventory, tracking skills, and jumping into multiplayer hunts will feel less clunky as Capcom tweaks the interface for more intuitive navigation.
Camera Fixes During Hunts – No more mid-dodge betrayal from your camera. The patch improves camera behavior to make tracking targets more dynamic, so you won’t be left face-to-face with an angry monster when you least expect it.
The Grand Hub is also making its debut, introducing a brand-new multiplayer gathering space where hunters can coordinate, strategize, and socialize—perfect for teaming up with friends for your next big hunt.
And Capcom isn’t stopping there. As well as fixing performance and enhancing your gameplay experience, Update 1 also aims to expand your adventure.
Basically, if you thought the game was too forgiving at launch, brace yourself. The update introduces High Rank versions of familiar monsters, including Zoh Shia and an Arch-Tempered Rey Dau, alongside the return of fan-favorite Mizutsune, bringing its signature water-based attacks back to the battlefield.
And Capcom has even more in store. A major update at the end of May will introduce tempered variants of monsters like Gore Magala, Rey Dau, Uth Duna, Nu Udra, and Jin Dahaad, upping the difficulty for seasoned hunters. A second Free Title Update is also scheduled for summer, with even more challenging monsters planned beyond that.
What's clear is that, more than just patching up issues and smoothing out gameplay, Capcom’s strategy is to shape Wilds into a constantly growing, ever-challenging experience.
If this first major update is any indication, PC players (and hunters everywhere) are in for an exciting ride in the months ahead!

Look, we enjoyed Borderlands 3 for what it was back in the day here at 2Game, but there's no point in pretending that the game wasn't astonishingly annoying at times. Not the gameplay side of things, mind: that was phenomenal. The story, the dialogue, and the general vibe of the experience were ridiculously off, though.
This, compared to Borderlands 2's enduring legacy, simply wouldn't do. We were taken aback when Gearbox came out to officially announce Borderlands 4 so relatively quickly after the third mainline franchise entry failed to establish itself for good. Yet, that's not a bad sign at all, because there's merit in the grander Borderlands franchise for sure.
What is it, though, that needs to be changed in Borderlands 4 compared to its predecessor, and what lessons might it be able to learn from certain offshoots? Well, let's talk about it.
In case you haven't played Borderlands 3, it's truly difficult to drive home just how painfully crummy its main campaign was written. The DLCs did improve upon the base game's writing, mind, and genuinely delivered some of the franchise's most memorable moments and characters. The main campaign isn't that, though.
Instead, its main antagonists - the Calypso twins - are easily some of the most annoying and unpalatable in the entire genre. And that's saying something.
The simple fact of the matter is that Borderlands 3 did virtually everything right outside of its main narrative conceit. And what does that tell us about Borderlands 4? Well, hopefully that Gearbox is going to turn its former approach up on its head, that's what.
Here's the thing even the most skeptical of us have to admit: Gearbox did change gears after realizing that Borderlands 3's main narrative wasn't all that. Not only are the game's DLCs miles beyond anything the main story could hope to deliver, but we need to remember Tiny Tina's Wonderlands as well. This standalone offshoot handled its humor and antagonists much, much better than Borderlands 3 did, which worked in its favor. Gearbox simply needs to do the same thing again, and double-down on the many, many bits that worked.
The only right way to "fix" Borderlands is for the games' main story to either not be as ridiculously annoying as it was in Borderlands 3, or to make the entire thing as optional as it is in any other hack 'n' slash title. There's no point in pretending that the main narrative of a Borderlands game is at all more important than the narrative of, say, a Diablo or Path of Exile title. Borderlands 4 needs to treat its story as such, and focus entirely on the gameplay and the vibes.
And on that matter, I would personally appreciate it if Gearbox could take a look back at the original Borderlands for its strange, slightly unsettling atmosphere and adapt it for the new title. That's beside the point, however, and an entirely different can of worms we may open later down the line.
Here's the god news, then: Gearbox absolutely has all the things it needs to make Borderlands 4 work. This is the same team that made Borderlands 3's best parts work as well as it did. Seriously, try just picking the game up and playing it with dialogue volume set to 0: it's easily one of the best first-person looter-shooters you'll ever play.
Guns are chunky, satisfying, and deliver a hell of a punch even when you're under-leveled. Enemies react satisfyingly to getting hit, with appropriately grisly gibs sloughing off depending on what you've hit them with. The movement is arguably better than what you get out of Destiny 2, for crying out loud. Borderlands 3 is a phenomenal game trapped within the scope of a crummy story, and Gearbox just needs to de-emphasize the story enough to help players get through the hump of it. Or, heck, write a better cast of villains.
We will admit that what we've seen of Borderlands 4 so far seems appropriately promising. The main villain - the Timekeeper - is ominous and serious in much the same way Handsome Jack was, and while the core identity of what Borderlands is has seemingly been maintained, there's a groundedness to the shown materials that wasn't there in Borderlands 3.
As the gameplay video featured above suggests, Borderlands 3's gameplay loop seems to have been kept in, too, which is excellent news. We will go so far as to say that it looks like Gearbox has corrected its course and knows how to make Borderlands 4 the kind of game its predecessor already could've been. With that in mind, we're very interested in what happens with the title next.
Borderlands 4 is coming out soon, actually: on September 23, 2025. We've got plenty more content planned for it in the coming weeks and months, so do stay tuned. With a bit of luck, this is the Borderlands title to keep an eye out for.
Because nobody likes annoying streamers.
DOOM has always been about more than just high-speed demon-slaying and epic combat. Yes, there’s the Slayer’s trusty shotgun and the glory kill button, but there's also the pulse-pounding, metal-infused soundtracks that make your blood pump and your fists clench.
The legendary Mick Gordon - genius behind the DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal soundtracks - has been integral to DOOM's iconic musical identity. When Gordon parted ways with id Software, fans were, therefore, apprehensive. Who could fill such thunderous shoes?
Fortunately, we have an answer: Finishing Move. Here's everything we know about the DOOM: The Dark Ages soundtrack, and the dawn of this new era in metal legacy.
Game Director Hugo Martin dropped the bombshell that Finishing Move was crafting the soundtrack for the upcoming DOOM: The Dark Ages at Microsoft’s Xbox Developer Direct.
Made up of composers Brian Trifon and Brian Lee White, this musical production duo is no stranger to the scene, having produced music for Borderlands 3, Halo Wars 2, and Grounded, as well as the spine-chilling The Callisto Protocol.
But a DOOM soundtrack is the beating heart of the rip and tear experience, and expectations are understandably high. So, how have fans reacted to the news of new composers?
Hugo Martin describes Finishing Move’s work as “a metal soundscape loaded with guitars, medieval vibes, and pure adrenaline”. Sounds perfect, but is it hype? We don't think so. Not if the gameplay snippets are anything to go by.
Take, for example, the track Unchained Predator. The mix of primal rage, brutal speed, and gnarly, snarling guitar riffs sync perfectly with the Slayer’s relentless rampage.
And the latest trailer, When The Shadows First Lengthened has only added to the excitement, with fans praising its raw intensity and seamless fusion of sound and action. We're talking pure, unfiltered chaos set ablaze - totally nailing the DOOM brief.
But that's not all. More than just delivering a barrage of riffs, Finishing Move’s music contains subtle nods to the legendary DOOM soundtracks of the past.
Fans are already catching references to Countdown to Death, Dark Halls, and influences from Sonic Mayhem’s Quake soundtrack. One track in the Developer Direct even takes a page from Bobby Prince’s iconic compositions for DOOM and DOOM II, following a 12-bar blues structure.
Can Finishing Move successfully strike the balance between paying homage to the classic DOOM sound, while still leaving their mark? So far, it's looking promising!
After highlighting our excitement for things to come, which is genuine, we can't ignore the elephant in the room. Enthusiastic as we may be about what Finishing Move can deliver, Mick Gordon’s absence still looms large. After all, his music wasn’t just part of DOOM; it was the soul-crushing rhythm behind the Slayer’s rampage. Suffice to say, his departure was a hard pill for fans to swallow. But here’s the thing—DOOM has always evolved musically, and this isn’t the first time the soundtrack has shifted.
Before Gordon came along, we had Bobby Prince’s MIDI masterpieces in the original DOOM (1993), and even after Gordon left, we got The Ancient Gods DLC, composed by Andrew Hulshult and David Levy. Fans were nervous about the shift, but the new sound was well received.
It's time for Finishing Move to take the baton - to elevate DOOM to new musical heights. It’s only fair to give them the chance to create their legacy.
DOOM’s music has always been as integral as the gameplay. With DOOM: The Dark Ages, we’re seeing the franchise continue its musical evolution, embracing fresh sounds while staying true to the iconic intensity at the heart of the DOOM experience.
While honoring past sounds, including the industrial heaviness that characterized DOOM Eternal, Finishing Move appears to be embracing more diverse musical styles by combining heavy guitar riffs, intricate drumwork, and eerie atmospheric elements. Might we even go as far as to expect some ambient and/or orchestral influences in the finished soundtrack?
What's clear is that Finishing Move isn't afraid to spice things up, adding their eclectic flavor to the mix, while respecting the series’ legendary musical history. Isn't that what evolution's all about? According to one fan, “So far, Finishing Move’s soundtrack for The Dark Ages seems like a love letter to metal music in video games, and I think that’s fantastic.”
DOOM: The Dark Ages is set to drop on May 15, 2025, as a single-player-only FPS. Will the new soundtrack live up to DOOM’s brutal legacy? Only time will tell, but the Slayer’s carnage looks set to be accompanied by a soundtrack just as savage as his arsenal.
Metallic chaos on fire
