If you've read our Picto leveling guide (and if not, go do that—it’ll come in handy), you know that mastering Pictos unlocks something far more valuable than just stat boosts. It unlocks Luminas.
Luminas aren’t just fancy names for effects; they’re passive abilities that stick with your team permanently, even if you unequip the original Picto. But what exactly are Luminas?
Here's a breakdown, including how to activate Luminas, and why they're the sauce that spices up your squad.
Think of Luminas as the essence of a Picto. Once you’ve used a Picto in four battles and mastered it, it reveals its true nature - its Lumina effect. This Lumina effect might be a critical rate boost, passive healing, elemental resistance, or something entirely unique.
The best part? You don’t have to keep the Picto equipped to use the Lumina. Once activated, this bad boy becomes part of your character’s permanent toolkit. It’s like the game’s way of saying, “Nice job experimenting—here’s your reward.”
Here’s the catch: to activate Luminas, you need Lumina Points. You get one Lumina Point per level, per character, so it’s limited, which means making strategic choices.
When you open the Lumina tab in the Pictos screen, you’ll see a list of all the Luminas your party has unlocked. From there, you can spend your points to activate any of them, regardless of whether the original Picto is equipped or not.
Just keep in mind: you're only activating the Lumina effect, not the full stat boost that the Picto offered when equipped.
To be specific, activating a Lumina grants the passive ability tied to that Picto—such as bonus crit rate, passive healing, or elemental resistance—but not the base stat increases (like HP, Attack Power, or Defense) that come with equipping the Picto. Those stat bonuses are exclusive to the gear itself. So, if you unequip the Picto, the raw stats go with it.
In a game where your party is constantly evolving, and enemy encounters are known to throw curveballs, Luminas give you flexibility, letting you build specialized characters without being locked into gear choices. They also reward creativity; trying out oddball Pictos to see what Luminas they unlock is sometimes the key to revolutionizing your approach to combat.
Basically, if Pictos are your gear, Luminas are your growth. They’re what turn a solid setup into a finely-tuned machine. And, when the Paintress starts throwing her worst at you, you’ll be glad your Luminas are locked and loaded!
Lock and load your Luminas!
