Code Vein is Bandai Namco's latest and greatest, having released earlier today. This anime-looking vampire-themed Souls-like is, in fact, a rather unique game for a variety of reasons, some of which we will discuss here. In any case, if you're on the hunt for a Code Vein CD key, you've come to the right place.

This story-driven connected dungeon experience may have been inspired by the likes of Dark Souls, but that doesn't mean it hasn't evolved past it. In fact, Code Vein builds upon this pedigree in every way, and carves a very particular niche for itself. Online coop availability, for one, is a game-changer on its own. Combat features and art style also make Code Vein more of a character action game, like Devil May Cry. In fact, now that we think of it, this game is practically a bastard child of DMC and Dark Souls. It's pretty dang neat!

Why Should You Play Code Vein?

Code Vein CD Key

We're guessing it's obvious out of the gate that this is a game for fans of anime. The art style is, of course, a perfect match for the type of game Code Vein is, and it works wonderfully in practice. It's worth pointing out that not everyone will enjoy this, but Code Vein does know its audience well. To that end, expect ridiculously overdesigned gear and attacks, and animations to go along with that. It's interesting that the game manages to mesh its visual identity with a clear Souls-like gameplay inspiration, only for it all to work out just fine in the end. More than fine, actually. Code Vein is a very competent action-adventure, and its streamlined RPG features don't come into the way of action at all.

What's particularly curious about Code Vein is that it's coming from Bandai Namco - the original publisher of the Dark Souls franchise. These guys knew exactly how to pull off a great Souls-like without outright emulating the From Software RPGs. Though Code Vein does feel like a Souls game in moment-to-moment gameplay, it also has numerous features that set it apart from its competitors. As an example, take its online cooperative functionality, which really is a game-changer.

What Are People Saying About Code Vein?

Code Vein's reviews have so far been almost unanimously positive! The game currently enjoys a 'Very Positive' Steam review rating, and our favourite review of the bunch is definitely the following: "There's a badass soulslike minigame in my Character customization simulator." It's hard to overstate just how detailed and granular Code Vein's character creator is, honestly.

On a more serious note, IGN felt quite positive about Code Vein also: "If you’re looking for a unique take on a familiar type of challenge, and are open to loving and hating a game for its many mechanical quirks in the same breath, Code Vein is worth sinking your teeth into."

Similarly, Den of Geek calls for us not to sleep on this game: "Yes, Code Vein is heavily inspired by Dark Souls. But that’s perfectly okay. It brings enough new ideas to the table to set itself apart and carve out its own niche. It’s got top-notch presentation, polished gameplay, and more narrative depth than your typical action RPG."

The verdict is pretty straightforward, with all of this in mind: good work Bandai Namco!

Conclusion

The conclusion, as you surely agree by now, makes itself. What we've got in front of us today is an unlikely mish-mash of anime and Dark Souls that, by all accounts, shouldn't have worked. Yet it does, and it does so with flair.

Here's the best part: there's still a bit of time left for you to join our Code Vein giveaway. We're giving away a copy of the game to two lucky winners, and we'll be announcing their names tomorrow.
