Why Playing Redfall on Game Pass is a Phenomenal Idea

Are you, too, excited about Redfall? Due to launch in just a few days, on May 2, Redfall is Arkane Studios' latest foray into merging the gameplay loop of a true immersive sim with the gameplay nuances of a regular FPS. Everything suggests that we're in for a heck of a time with this vampire-hunting adventure, but the fact remains that modern AAA games are fairly expensive on day one. That's why the ability to play Redfall on Game Pass on day one is such a big deal!

Published under Bethesda's own umbrella, which is, in turn, under the grander Xbox umbrella, Redfall will be available via the Game Pass the minute it comes out. This gives us a unique opportunity to try the game out at a minimum price of admission and to keep playing it to our hearts' content. Interested yet? You should be, and down below, we'll explain why!

Playing Redfall on Game Pass is a Great Idea!

To call Game Pass effective and efficient would be underselling the service. It's been iterated over and over again, but there really is no beating the sheer bang-for-buck value that one gets when subscribing to the service. Access to hundreds of top-tier games at once? Support for virtually any contemporary gaming device with Internet access? Day-one availability for first-party titles? You bet! On all of these accounts, in fact.

The situation with Redfall, however, is even more interesting. While we're quite excited about the prospect of a unique, vampire-laden Borderlands/PREY combo, Arkane Studios titles historically don't always move many copies on day one. They're slow-burning genre classics that come into their own over a longer period of time, instead.

Naturally, this has got to do with a variety of reasons. Not least of these is the fact that people usually wish to get acquainted with Arkane titles before going all-in. And, really, that's fine, but it's worth highlighting the fact that the developer has a phenomenal track record, regardless.

A Low Price for a High-Value Deal

With the rising complexity and costs of modern game development, this latest hardware generation has seen a bump up in day-one game pricing. This means that a new AAA game - like Redfall itself - costs $70 (or your regional currency equivalent) brand new. Now, we'll be the first to say that we firmly believe an Arkane title is well worth this price point, but we also appreciate that not everyone will agree. That's precisely where the value of a Game Pass subscription comes into play!

If you're understandably unsure about dropping $70 on an all-new game, and if you haven't had previous experience with Arkane Studios (though you should), then the fact that the game's coming to Game Pass on day one is a phenomenal opportunity! This is your chance to get Game Pass for a little while, experience Redfall, and go about your day knowing that you've gotten a lovely deal out of the whole shindig. What's not to like?

Enjoy Redfall Without Overspending

We already know for a fact that Redfall is a true Arkane title. The earliest previews confirm as much! What we don't know, though, are the specifics. What's the balance between the game's FPS elements and its immersive sim legacy? How does co-operative multiplayer work? Is a full solo playthrough completely viable? The most important question of all, however, is certainly whether Redfall will be able to stand toe-to-toe with PREY or Dishonored.

On these fronts, we too need to wait until May 2nd to be able to tell. Again, though, we circle back to the opportunity of playing the game risk-free via Game Pass. And, of course, reaping all the other numerous benefits of a Game Pass subscription. Remember: you will be able to play Redfall via Game Pass, but that counts for any other awesome game featured as part of the subscription, too. And there's a huge list to play through!

For those who are on the fence, then, the choice is obvious!

Which Option Will You Choose?

Game Pass subscriptions have proven their worth, time and again. Featuring top-tier games on day one, Game Pass is a one-of-a-kind gaming service that doesn't leave its users hanging, no matter the tier, platform, or device they wish to enjoy their games on. From mobile phones to PCs, even including the Steam Deck, if you set it up right! Those who already have an active subscription should make good use of it for Redfall, then.

While the 2Game editorial team is thrilled with Arkane's output from Arx Fatalis to Deathloop, through and through, the developer's games are complex and sandboxy, and it's easy to see why others might not be sold on them right off the bat. If you, too, find yourself on this proverbial fence, Game Pass will be the perfect choice to give the game a fair shake.

And don't forget: Xbox provides purchase discounts for select titles, available exclusively to Game Pass subscribers. If you miss out on 2Game's early bird discount for Redfall and wish to permanently add the game to your library, that's a fair option!
