When it comes to deciding on an awesome new ARPG, we understand that size is a key component in your decision-making. After all, who'd want to buy a new soulslike only to discover that it's barely a dozen hours long, right? That's where this article comes into the picture, as we set our sights on Lords of the Fallen. Lords of the Fallen - the new game - is coming out on October 13, and the developer Hexworks hadn't yet discussed just how big of an RPG it was. Until now, that is.
You see, we've just been given a comprehensive summary of Lords of the Fallen's sheer size and breadth of its content, which means we can compare it to games such as Elden Ring! Of course, size isn't the only concern here, not by a long shot, but we do want to know how much oomph Hexworks and CI Games have managed to pack into this thing. If you're intrigued, too, simply read on!

Our source for this article is delightfully simple: a comprehensive infographic provided by the developer itself. According to Hexworks, the new Lords of the Fallen is bound to feature:
That is... way more than what most non-FromSoft soulslikes deliver. Examples include the short and focused Mortal Shell, as well as the broader The Surge 2, both of which are more contained than what appears to be included in Lords of the Fallen.
An impressive array of content, then, at least on paper. We'll need to wait and see how the actual game itself meshes and if all this content is included properly, but so far, it's a good showing!
Aside from the official launch trailer, as shown above, and the admittedly substantial content infographic, the good folk over at Hexworks have been quiet on this front. Some leaked information suggests that the game might be about 40 hours long for the main campaign section of it, but that has since been taken off of official channels - likely for a reason.
It's a bit of a mixed bag information-wise, then. With just a few more days to go, though, the good news is that we at least won't need to wait long to see what's really up.
There does seem to be an air of positivity surrounding Lords of the Fallen's imminent release. Devs have shown the game off several times already, and we think they believe they've got a banger on their hands. That's as good a sign as we could possibly ask for, so we're keen to play Lords ourselves!
If you, too, would like to join us on day one, we recommend checking out 2Game's special pre-order discount while it's still available. You could snag a special 10% off your purchase and play the game on October 13, making this a phenomenal deal for Soulslike fans.

Everything suggests that Lords of the Fallen will be a reasonably large game. As we pointed out before, soulslikes are generally broader than most regular action adventures, albeit not necessarily larger than full-blooded RPGs. Starfield, for example, is bound to be a fair bit bigger than Lords of the Fallen, which is in turn bound to be a fair bit bigger than Devil May Cry 5.
The recently released Lies of P, for example, takes under 30 hours to beat. Just over 50, if you're a completionist. Naturally, super-sized genre entries such as Dark Souls 3 and Elden Ring go far beyond that, but that's only possible because of two reasons:
Most other soulslike productions are smaller, then, and Lords of the Fallen still aims towards being closer to Dark Souls proper than to Lies of P, from the looks of it.

We hope this article has assuaged some of the worries you may have had about Lords of the Fallen. It will, by all accounts, be a massive new soulslike adventure! True enough, it won't be an open-world ARPG, but we feel it's got more than enough going for it to stand on its own two feet.
Broadly speaking, it seems to be roughly as big as 2/3rds of Elden Ring, which is downright immense for a smaller studio and production. We highly doubt anyone will be disappointed with its size, in other words, and with other important features - like its dimension-hopping and actual co-op multiplayer that works - available as the cherry on top of this particular pie, Lords of the Fallen may end up being a must-have.
We've got just a few short days to go, so stay tuned!
