Best New Weapons in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree (and how to get them)

So! Shadow of the Erdtree is kind of huge, right? Pretty darn immense, actually, with more content thrown into it than most games stock up on over their whole playthroughs! Considering the difficulty spike we're seeing, most of us will be spending a good long while dealing with all this newfound goodness, which obviously means we need more weapons, too.

Here's the kicker, though: Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is loaded with almost 100 new weapons. Which one do you go after first, then? We've assembled a spoiler-free shortlist of the very best weapons in Shadow of the Erdtree that might help you decide what to focus on next.

Just note that we're deliberately being obtuse with information here: spoiling the game for you isn't our goal, we just want you to have the best possible tools at your disposal!

Best New Weapons in Shadow of the Erdtree and how to get them

#5: Beast Claw

An obvious throwback to Marvel's Wolverine, the Beast Claw is a weapon dropped by the aptly named roaming boss Logur, and they're phenomenally capable at tearing enemies to shreds. To find it, you'll need to kill Logur, who is roaming to the south/south-east of the Gravesite Plain Site of Grace, so very early on in the DLC. Combine it with blood loss items, and you'll be well on your way to become a capable powerhouse in the Realm of Shadow.

#4: Dryleaf Arts

We've already gone over how to get the Dryleaf Arts in our dedicated guide, as it was quite simply the most fun early-DLC weapon we found at the time! Just use the link featured above and get to it, but don't expect the weapon to be a total pushover, either. As it can be kitted out with poison or bleed effects quite easily, and supports some of the best Ashes of War in the game, you could very well end up beating anything and anyone into submission with these bad boys.

#3: The Greatsword of Solitude

This one's extremely tricky to get early on, as you need to kill the already infamous Blackgaol Knight for it to drop. The annoying boss encounter is found in one of the first dungeons you could come across while playing Shadow of the Erdtree, the Western Nameless Mausoleum. It's a heavy thing, to be sure, but its Solitary Moon Slash is ridiculously good in action, and we cannot recommend it enough.

#2: Star-Lined Sword

A sword-looking katana? Oh, goodness. Yes. This finely crafted weapon can be found by taking down the Demi-Human Queen Marigga, found at Charo's Hidden Grave, off of the Cerulean Coast Grace. Its ability, Onze's Line of Stars, has an evolving effect that changes as you go from one to three casts, and stacking up all three of them in one go delivers devastating damage across the board. Don't overlook this one, even though it's fairly unassuming at first.

#1: Rellana's Twin Blades

Rellana's Twinblade is an absolutely phenomenal pair of longblades dropped by - you've guessed it Rellana herself, just outside the Castle-Lord's Chamber of Castle Ensis. To find it, head east from Gravesite Plain, and good luck! Again, no spoilers, but you will need luck if you're anything like us. The sheer spectacle of using these blades on top of their potency is what makes them our go-to choice for... well, everything.

And there you have it, these are the finest Shadow of the Erdtree weapons we've found so far. Expect a more thorough and in-depth guide as soon as we have more, though, along with a top 10 list!
