STALKER 2 Stash Explained – All You Need to Know

Let's be honest here for a bit: inventory management has always been a crucial aspect of the STALKER games. Whereas most other ImSim, Survival, and RPG titles allow you to lug around truly phenomenal amounts of loot, STALKER has never been up for that. Ammo has an attached weight, healing items have as well, and food and other assorted goodies do too.

In other words, you're simply not going to be able to carry all that much in STALKER 2, and you can straight-up forget about lugging around five or six different weapons and their respective ammunition around the Zone. What do you do with all that loot, then? Well, you use the Stash, of course!

How to Use the Stash in STALKER 2?

The bit that's important to understand about Skif's main Stash in STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl is that it doesn't work the same as it did in the older games. Back in the Shadow of Chernobyl, Clear Sky, and Call of Pripyat days, every single stash was an entity of its own, and moving loot around the Zone was a huge ordeal.

For better or for worse, STALKER 2's Stash is a universal shared entity that you'll find in every major settlement and in certain hideouts, usually located close to the active sleeping station. What this means for the gameplay loop is that you can safely stash away goodies to your heart's content, and they're all going to be available across the board in every other instance of the Stash.

Now, we haven't been able to truly test the Stash's limits just yet. Finding good loot that's worth keeping isn't easy in STALKER 2's early-game, but it doesn't seem like there's an actual limit in place. The Stash's real downside, instead, is the wholly inadequate UI that necessitates scrolling to see what else you might have in it. Mods are bound to expand the Stash window sooner or later, but it's really quite annoying in its current iteration.

The functionality of the Stash makes up for this downside, however, so be sure to use it whenever you need to offload your backpack to... make room for more loot.
