The Final Black Myth: Wukong PC Fact Sheet - Prepare Today!

Black Myth: Wukong developer Game Science has been holding a fair few cards close to its chest about the game. Quite simply, there's much we don't yet know about it and, given that we're mere days before the release, there's unlikely to be a huge media push in the interim. So, we'll make do with what we've got! Down below is the most comprehensive information summary we could come up with for Wukong on PC. Read up and prep-up: on August 20, we'll have a whole slew of related content coming up, so make sure that you tune back in next week!

If you've just not heard anything about this game yet - somehow - then read up on our explainer article from a few months back first. Gameplay videos included, for your viewing pleasure.

Regional Release Times

Black Myth: Wukong is set and primed to hit the stores (including 2Game) on August 20 at the following times:

If these release times seem a tad strange, that's because you're looking at the game's release from a Western-centric perspective: this is a game about Chinese mythology/fiction made by a Chinese game developer. So, those of us situated in, say, Europe, will have to get up real early to be able to stay on the cutting edge this time around!

Should make for an exciting change of pace, we'd say.

Exact PC System Requirements

Black Myth: Wukong is an Unreal Engine 5 game. We'd be thrilled to say that this means we'll get phenomenal performance on top of awesome graphics but, historically, this hasn't always been the case. We've already gone into substantial detail on Wukong's PC system requirements in a separate article, which we recommend you check out at your earliest convenience. It's really in-depth! Here's the top recommended spec to be able to run the game at its highest settings, however, with raytracing enabled:

This hardware spec targets the 'Very High' ray-tracing settings with the 'High' graphics preset at an upscaled 4K rendering resolution. Steep stuff, indeed. For what it's worth, Wukong should be able to run on a humble GTX 1060 at its absolute minimum settings.

If you're particularly concerned about this whole shindig, we recommend checking out the Black Myth: Wukong Benchmark Tool on Steam. This awesome set standalone benchmarking software will run your PC through its paces and give you a solid idea of what the full game might perform like. So, if you're worried about your PC's ability to play this game, the benchmark should be on your docket!

Gameplay Explainers

With that out of the way, it's time to talk shop! What is this game, really? Is Wukong a Soulslike? A regular action-RPG? An adventure game? Truth is, Black Myth: Wukong isn't necessarily interested in staying in a different game's shadow. This is decidedly not a true Soulslike, but early previews suggest we're looking at something along the lines of a full-featured Devil May Cry game, albeit a more hardcore one, at that.

From what we've seen of Wukong, this is going to be a kinda-sorta Boss Rush experience that straddles a very, very fine line between being a Character Action game and a genuine Soulslike. Very story-heavy and linear at times, Black Myth: Wukong tells a specific story that, sometimes, necessitates narrowing down the player's ability to improvise. To that end, don't expect anything akin to Elden Ring.

Instead, Wukong is seemingly more deliberate, curated, and concrete in what it's trying to do. More manageable, too? We believe so! We'll have more details on how Black Myth: Wukong actually plays in practice from August 20 onwards, however, so that's one of the bits you'll want to stay tuned for.

Pricing Details

Since Black Myth: Wukong is a richly detailed and engaging AAA game, it also comes with an appropriate price-tag: $59,99 or your regional equivalent. The good news for our wallets is that the base edition of the game is not targetting the current AAA price-point, however. The base game is priced at $59,99, whereas $69,99 will net you the full-featured Digital Deluxe version of the game.

We don't currently have any information about potential DLCs, customization packs, and/or expansions that may or may not be on the docket for Black Myth: Wukong in the future. We'll have to wait and see what Game Science says after the game comes out.

Deluxe Edition & Beyond

If you're considering the Deluxe Edition of Black Myth: Wukong, we're happy to report that it's seemingly quite a chonky, content-rich offering. Here's what you get for the extra $10 you have to spend on it:

Not half bad, right? Note, too, that the Digital Deluxe upgrade for Wukong can be purchased after the fact, so there's no need to rush if you're uncertain about its value just yet. The presence of cosmetic items does make us think there may be future DLCs of a similar size, however. Something to keep in mind as we go!
