The original Ghostrunner came out three full years ago, if you can believe that, only to instantly become the first-person platformer/slasher to play. Ghostrunner was nothing short of remarkable at the time, and the development studios One More Level and Slipgate Ironworks capitalized on this by releasing a slew of expansion packs and DLCs for it. Why the heck would they not, after all, considering just how fun and replayable the game was, especially for speed-runners? Can Ghostrunner 2 pull off the same thing now, in 2023?
Naturally, it's the Ghostrunner 2 PC version that we're most interested in. From its incredible katana combat mechanics to its delightfully dire depiction of a post-apocalyptic cyberpunk future, Ghostrunner 2 is an important PC release. Those who've been with us for a while will know that we cut our technical teeth on poring over Ghostrunner's DLSS and raytracing features, and we aim to do precisely that all over again!

So, what we're curious about here is whether Ghostrunner 2 on PC is what we all want it to be. For now, our exposure to the game has been limited to its earlier demo and what information the devs have been sharing. Down below, you'll find all of that, plus some of our own conjunctions. And, of course, a link to purchase the Steam version of Ghostrunner 2 at a discount!
Broadly speaking, Ghostrunner 2 might not be the same sort of game as its prequel was. Whereas the original Ghostrunner was more an ultra-violent first-person puzzler than anything else, Ghostrunner 2 is way more reactive and open in its approach to combat. Players do still embody the ultimate cyber-ninja Ghostrunner, yes, but to keep the combat exciting alongside giving us a fresh challenge, developer One More Level is focusing more on route planning and a personalized approach to problem-solving.
So, whereas there'd be effectively just one way to finish a given Ghostrunner encounter, Ghostrunner 2 instead pitches its own demanding encounters as open-ended. You now traverse interactive environments instead of glorified hallways. You now deal with (potentially) helpful neutral entities instead of just cutting down anyone and everyone. The new dialogue system and the upgraded player progression system will help you customize gameplay further, bringing Ghostrunner 2 to an all-new level.

Ghostrunner 2 isn't interested in just being Ghostrunner, but a tiny bit better. On top of including exciting new modes of gameplay and more unlockables than you could shake a cyber-katana at, Ghostrunner 2 is also adding a wealth of new features and gameplay options.
The most obvious - and arguably most important - is practically the devs' way of harkening back to the early days of arcade platformers. Back then, it was extremely commonplace for games to include wacky turret or vehicle sections and, whaddayaknow, Ghostrunner 2's going to get a badass cyber-bike all of its own.
That's right: Ghostrunner 2 will allow you to dish out slow-mo neon justice while on a motorcycle, and we cannot wait to see how this feature pans out.
Aside from the obviously awesome boon that a bike would be for a hardcore FPP slasher set in a post-apocalyptic cyberpunk future, there are some other big changes that Ghostrunner veterans will be interested in. For one, the one-hit-kill mechanics are back for the most part, but this time they're being implemented in a wildly different way.
As players leave the Dharma Tower behind and set out into the ruined hellhole that waits beyond, so too do the levels become more complex and non-linear. Complex motorbike sections will intersperse with regular combat encounters, but these too will be more engaging thanks to the enemies' upgraded AI capabilities. Countless improvements await as you take on the toughest opponents Ghostrunner's had yet.
Don't forget about new music, a completely redone set of cyber ninja katana skills, and more hand and weapon skins than ever before!

Circling back to the topic of Ghostrunner 2's technical backing, we've got some reasonably good news to share. According to demo benchmarks, the game should run just fine on some pretty low-spec hardware. BenchART's findings, specifically, outline that Ghostrunner 2 performs admirably well on a humble GTX 1650, with 1080p/high settings at 60 FPS being well within reach. This, note, is without any RT capabilities, and you can bump things up a notch further with upscaling technologies such as the FSR and the DLSS, depending on which is available to you.
As for the hardware system requirements, we've got those as well!
OS: Windows 10 64-bit
Note that, on Steam, devs pointed out that the requirements specs are subject to change, as pointed out in the headers prior. With just a few days to go before launch, though, we reckon these are pretty set, though.

Now that we've outlined all the technical and content tidbits we have about Ghostrunner 2 on PC, it's time to talk shop. Literally. Ghostrunner 2 is due to launch on Steam on October 26. If you're reading this on day one, this means we're days away from it! No launch delays will be happening now, we reckon, as we're in the final countdown for the big event.
