How are you enjoying this year's spooky season? As much as we're having fun with our classic Halloween gaming playlist, this is also the right time to discuss some new and/or upcoming games, and it just so happens that Forgive Me Father 2 has been in our sights for a while now. A sequel to the awesome original indie FPS from 2021, Forgive Me Father 2 thrusts players once again into the Lovecraftian deep end. Because, really, what better way to destroy an unimaginable ancient evil trying to bring utter destruction upon the world, than to gun it the hell down?
Forgive Me Father 2 is, therefore, a surprisingly fitting combination for two different types of players:
And, honestly, does that not sound like a delightfully good time? Slap some distinctive dark comic-like visuals onto the combo, and you've got a truly special kind of FPS. Find all the important info about Forgive Me Father 2 below!

Trust us: there are few better ways to celebrate this year's Halloween than to dish out absolute mayhem upon the twisted forms of Lovecraft's myths. With guns.

Much as was the case with the original Forgive Me Father, Forgive Me Father 2 is an early-access first-person shooter developed by Byte Barrel, under the publishing umbrella of Fulqrum Publishing. It is, mechanically, quite similar to its predecessor. However, it is a massively upgraded version of the same thing, as it runs on Unreal Engine 5 - yes - which delivers extremely compelling visuals and all the juicy blood effects you could wish for.
According to Byte Barrel, FMF2 will be in Early Access until late 2024, but "since we want the game to be perfect (or as close to perfect as we can possibly get) before leaving Early Access, there is a possibility that we will need to prolong the Early Access period and postpone the full version release beyond that time frame," says the official word. "The Early Access launch version consists of 10 levels in total, where the players can obliterate 9 different enemy variants using 10 deadly weapons and defeat a tough boss; they can also utilize 4 different Madness skills," continues the announcement.
Byte Barrel is quite experienced with Early Access game development at this point, so we're not worried at all, having previously enjoyed the original title. After all, it, too, was an Early Access production, and it ended up being absolutely phenomenal in the end.

Speaking of which, something worth highlighting for the veterans of the original game is that Forgive Me Father 2 fixes three of its arguably biggest issues:
So, if these issues kept you from being able to confront unimaginable ancient evil in the first game, know that the new title does resolve them, even now.
On top of that, Byte Barrel has done truly great things with the game's hit feedback and visuals, too. If you enjoyed the first game's distinctive dark comic-like visuals, and its unique brand of absolute mayhem, you're in for a world of joy here. Forgive Me Father 2 positively sings in action, and from its impeccable graphics to the massively improved animations and combat, this early access game slaps.

Something worth considering, however, is that as the game is running on Unreal Engine 5, you do need a fairly chunky PC to get the correct level of performance. Here are the recommended hardware specs for Forgive Me Father 2:
So, it's not nearly as tall of an ask as some other contemporary releases have been, but it's still something worth considering. And, really, once you see the sheer number of animated gibs flying in FMF2, you'll understand why Unreal Engine 5 was the right choice for it.

Even though the key aspect of hosting a dark Lovecraftian atmosphere is that humans cannot truly defend themselves or prevent their utter destruction or mutation into twisted forms, Forgive Me Father 2 is all about gunning down everything that can be gunned down. And some things that cannot, too.
This malevolent world inspired by the legendary horror/pulp writer is, after all, exceedingly killable. You've got shotguns, lethally accurate rifles, explosive implements, and literal magic at your disposal, and it's all so wonderfully effective against Lovecraftian nightmares!
So, we hope you'll be joining us in blowing Lovecraft's mythos into smithereens in Forgive Me Father 2. As one of the best cutting-edge boomer shooters on the market, even in this early stage, the game delivers phenomenal gameplay with its own playstyle you'll find nowhere else, and it's just a grand old time.
You can play the "demo" via the Early Access build of Forgive Me Father 2, and then keep on killing monsters in the original Forgive Me Father. It's going to take a bit until we have the full version of the game at hand, but we'll tell you right now that we cannot wait to see it in action!
