For those of us who vividly remember running headfirst into Elden Ring's infamously vicious Tree Sentinels early in the game, the good news is that the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC has its own version of this very same concept. Except, this time FromSoft has taken things to the extreme with the massive, lumbering Furnace Golems.
A Furnace Golem is a humongous walking contrapment that serves as the Realm of Shadow's roaming boss encounter. These things are way faster than they appear, and they're every bit as vicious as the base game's most formidable foes. While they're not quite as problematic as, say, Bayle the Dread, you're still going to want to approach them with care. Here's how to take a Furnace Golem down!

First things first, it's always worth keeping in mind that you can always run away from a Furnace Golem if you figure it's too tough for you. Heck, you might just need a Scadutree Fragment or two to get yourself up-to-par with the golem. If not, though, tactical retreat is the way to go.
For those who are absolutely insistent on dealing with a Furnace Golem as early as possible, here are a few tips:
Everything else is just a question of learning the Furnace Golems' movesets and being able to repeatedly avoid their most damaging attacks. One thing we have to point out here, as a bonus, is that the Furnace Golems' size makes them a great candidate for environmental combat. In some instances, you'll be able to attack them from high up or even target their Sun Masks without having to bring them down.
So, it pays off to be mindful of the arena you're fighting the Furnace Golem in. Your rewards for bringing these lumbering monsters down? All-new Wondrous Physick effects! Good stuff.
