The idea that Elden Ring is one of the hardest, most challenging games on the market right now often gets repeated. Most interested players have, of course, already had the time to see for themselves whether this is the case, but today we're here to talk to those of us who are still on the fence.
The Shadow of the Erdtree expansion pack for Elden Ring is almost upon us, due to release on June 21, and the odds are good that we're looking at another major gaming zeitgeist alongside it. So, even if you've been too intimidated to play Elden Ring up until now, you're probably thinking about jumping in all over again, right?
So, let us explain why Elden Ring most certainly is not too difficult for you to play and enjoy!

Even though Elden Ring can be extremely challenging, especially if you go after some of the game's secret boss encounters, the simple fact of the matter is that the game lets you make it way, way easier than you might expect it to be.
That's all thanks to Elden Ring's impeccable arsenal of weapons, spells, and summons! Sure, you can limit yourself to the regular knight build whose only way of dishing out damage is to actually strike enemies in close quarters, but there's no real reason you should be doing that.
Instead, chase after secrets and collect exotic gear! Summon packs of wolves to help you out! Farm excessive amounts of Runes to out-level your foes as you go! The thing that makes Elden Ring potentially easier than most any other FromSoft game is that it's an open-ended sandbox where you make your own way forward.
This means you're free to tackle most encounters just the way you see fit, and once you stop thinking within the confines of your starting character's given class, Elden Ring truly opens up to you.
So, there's no reason to be intimidated. Sure, Shadow of the Erdtree will be more challenging than the base game in some respects, but rest assured it's nothing you wouldn't be able to handle. And the best part is that the truly unfairly difficult encounters are all optional, anyway. So, why not give it a shot?
