Having already gone over all the expansion and DLC content featured in the upcoming PC re-release of Shin Megami Tensei 5, the big question that remains is what else is being added to the mix? Is Atlus adding any truly meaningful new goodies, or is this simply a modernized re-release of a Nintendo Switch original?
As a matter of fact, there is a huge chunk of new content included here. More specifically, Shin Megami Tensei 5 on PC and home consoles has the 'Vengeance' sub-title, which denotes a major upgrade somewhere along the way. To best accommodate both veteran players and total newbies, the developer Atlus has produced a whole new narrative path that exists as an alternative to the original.

The new, re-released and upgraded version of Shin Megami Tensei 5 allows players to choose whether they want to play the original narrative path - Canon of Creation - or the demonic new alternative - Canon of Vengeance.
More specifically, while the Canon of Creation allows players to essentially experience the original version of Shin Megami Tensei 5 as first envisioned by the developer, the Canon of Vengeance is something else entirely. This narrative path is centered around new characters and a new cohort of demons known as the Qadištu. The Qadištu are a mysterious group with their own designs for the world's future, and they don't overlap with the ongoing war between angels and demons to a massive extent.
This means that Vengeance delivers a whole new story that'll easily entertain players both new and old, and effectively provide two SMT stories in one awesome package.
While a variety of other optional side-quests will be locked behind paid DLC, the Canon of Vengeance is a baseline addition to SMT5: Vengeance, and thus provided to all owners of the base game. Neat!
