Pacific Drive: How to Get More Unstable Energy?

Even though you'll come across a whole assortment of much-needed resources in Pacific Drive, there's one exotic goodie you simply won't be able to progress without: Unstable Energy. Pacific Drive's Unstable Energy is a unique resource that essentially fuels the game's entire research economy, and if you've got no research going on, then you won't be able to upgrade your car, garage, and character. In other words: there's simply no moving forward without it!

Now, getting Unstable Energy is a job in and of itself. Whereas the majority of other key resources in Pacific Drive, such as scrap metal, can be found in a variety of places, states, and situations, this isn't the case with Unstable Energy. The only way to find it is to steal Stable Anchors strewn across levels, and Anchors are usually hard to get to, and hard to extract, as picking them up causes immediate instabilities and makes nearby anomalies go haywire. Here's what you can do to make the job of sourcing Unstable Energy that much easier!

Getting Unstable Energy for research in Pacific Drive

If you're on the prowl for Stable Anchors, we highly recommend hoofing it from one Anchor to the other as quickly as possible, and extracting with them without taking many other escapades along the way. That's because hunting for Stable Anchors is dangerous business by default (unless you're using Easy Mode tweaks).

The first order of business is to check your car's GPS map and make note of all the circular orange nodes. Those are the Stable Anchors, and the bigger the node, the more Unstable Energy you'll get for extracting it. Choose one node, to begin with, slap a blue track-mark onto it, and make your way to the location.

As Pacific Drive is a highly randomized game, it's entirely possible that some of your Stable Anchors will be delightfully easy to reach. Other times, though, you may need to dive deep into anomalous territory to reach them, often even driving straight into anomalies themselves!

Whatever the case may be, once you've found a Stable Anchor, hold the left mouse button to pick it up and then make a dash towards your jalopy. The Anchors are inserted directly into the ARC device that's riding shotgun in the car, which will then extract Unstable Energy from the Anchor. Once that's done, simply extract and you'll be rewarded with research currency for your troubles!
