Who Is Banzai in STALKER 2?

According to GSC Game World's official description of the Stories Untold update, he joined Professor Medulin's investigation into a mysterious signal that was causing stalkers across the Zone to experience severe symptoms. Research groups near Malachite in the western part of the map had been reporting a signal that interfered with standard PDA communications. Stalkers who listened to it suffered from headaches, nosebleeds, and even hallucinations.

While Professor Medulin had the scientific expertise to recognize something was wrong, he lacked the technical radio knowledge to decode the signal's origin. That's where Banzai came in. As a radio enthusiast, he was the natural choice to help figure out what was happening. Unfortunately, things didn't go according to plan.

By the time you encounter Banzai in STALKER 2, something has clearly gone wrong with the investigation. He's been captured by a gang of bandits led by a man called Pickaxe and is being held prisoner in the Old Mine located in the Red Forest region. His desperate distress call is what kicks off the entire Stories Untold storyline.

How to Find Banzai in STALKER 2

Finding Banzai is the first step in accessing the Stories Untold content. The process is straightforward once you know what to look for.

Triggering the Distress Call

To receive Banzai's distress signal, you need to have progressed far enough in STALKER 2's main story that you can freely explore the open world. Once you've left the Zalissya region and unlocked the ability to fast travel and move between zones, you're ready to start.

Head to the Burnt Forest region and simply explore the area on foot. While the official description says the transmission can be heard almost anywhere in the Zone, the Burnt Forest offers the highest probability of triggering it. Some players have reported reliably receiving the transmission near the bridge southeast of the Chemical Plant, west of the Pallet Warehouse and Motor Depot.

After spending some time moving around the Burnt Forest, Banzai's distress call will come through on your PDA. He explains that he's been captured by bandits and is being held in the Old Mine in Red Forest. Once you've heard this message, the Stories Untold questline officially begins.

Locating the Old Mine

The Old Mine is situated in the southern part of the Red Forest region. Open your map after receiving Banzai's transmission and plot a route there. You can travel directly to the location without any additional prerequisites.

When you arrive, expect resistance. Bandits are guarding the mine entrance, and you'll need to clear them out before heading inside. We'd strongly recommend bringing a gas mask and decent combat gear. The interior of the mine isn't exactly hospitable.

Rescuing Banzai

Once inside the Old Mine, follow the rail tracks through the tunnels. When the tracks split at a junction, take the right-hand path. Continue along this route until you spot a cell block on your left side. Banzai is locked inside one of these cells.

Shoot the lock on his cell door to break it open, then speak with him. This conversation formally assigns the Dark as a Dungeon mission and kicks off the Stories Untold questline in earnest.

All Banzai Quests in STALKER 2 Stories Untold

Banzai is involved in multiple missions throughout the Stories Untold expansion. Here's a breakdown of every quest connected to this character.

Dark as a Dungeon

This is the introductory mission where you rescue Banzai from the Old Mine. After freeing him from his cell, the quest expands significantly. You'll need to shut down a pump that's flooding part of the mine, deal with the bandit leader Pickaxe, and recover Banzai's drive containing important data.

The mission involves navigating flooded tunnels, fighting through multiple waves of bandits, and eventually finding Pickaxe's body to retrieve the drive. A Two-O-Three Underbarrel Grenade Launcher can also be found in the same area as Banzai's drive, making this a worthwhile venture beyond just the story content.

One unfortunate outcome: you won't be able to recover Banzai's tools during this mission. You'll have to break the news to him, which he doesn't take particularly well. Still, returning the drive completes Dark as a Dungeon and unlocks the rest of the questline.

Reward: Access to subsequent Stories Untold missions.

Banzai's Tools (Part 1)

After completing Dark as a Dungeon, Banzai asks for your help recovering his equipment so he can study the strange radio signals that started this whole mess. The first part of this quest sends you to the Chemical Plant region.

Travel to the objective location near a flooded barge in the southern part of the area. You'll need to navigate some grasslands to cross the water and reach the stash. Once you've secured the tools, head to Kazkovyi's camp in the Burnt Forest.

Clear out any mutants around the camp, then enter the building to find Scoutmaster. Show him the acquired tools to complete this portion of the quest. Fair warning: Scoutmaster will hold onto the items rather than letting you give them directly to Banzai.

Reward: 5,250 Coupons.

Banzai's Tools (Part 2)

The second part of Banzai's Tools becomes available after completing the Once Upon a Time at Kazkovyi mission. Speak with Banzai at Kazkovyi's camp, where he's now taken up residence, and he'll explain that he needs another set of tools.

Interestingly, Banzai mentions during this conversation that he's given up radio work and is learning to fix gear instead. He plans to install a scope for Scoutmaster and craft additional tools to sell to Rascal. His character arc shows genuine growth as he adapts to his circumstances in the Zone.

For this quest, Banzai directs you to three stashes at the Vehicle Graveyard in the Yantar region. He doesn't know which stash contains the tools, so you'll need to search them all. Look for an oil truck at the objective location and check the stash on top to find the first clue.

Additional tools can be found at the C-2 Boiler House. Head inside, take a right, then a left, and you'll find an opening leading down to a room. Enemies are present, but they're manageable.

Return to Banzai at Kazkovyi's camp with the collected tools to complete the quest.

NK-5 Group

This mission requires you to locate two other members of Banzai's original investigation team: Rascal and Professor Medulin. Both have been scattered across the Zone following whatever went wrong during their research.

Rascal is located in the Chemical Plant region, while Medulin can be found in the Malachite region. Rescue both of them and bring them back to Kazkovyi's camp to reunite the full NK-5 group.

Important: Make sure to access this quest after completing Once Upon a Time at Kazkovyi or before finishing the second part of Banzai's Tools. If you complete Banzai's Tools (Part 2) first, the NK-5 Group mission becomes unavailable.

Reward: Story progression and access to Radio Silence.

Radio Silence

With the entire NK-5 group reassembled at Kazkovyi's camp, you can speak to Banzai to initiate the Radio Silence mission. This quest continues the investigation into the mysterious signal that's been plaguing the Zone's stalkers.

Radio Silence represents the culmination of Banzai's storyline within the Stories Untold expansion, bringing together all the threads from previous missions into a final investigation.

Tips for Completing Banzai's Questline

The Stories Untold content can take around five hours to complete, and Banzai's missions are a significant portion of that runtime. Here are some suggestions to help you through.

Gear up appropriately. The Old Mine in particular features tight corridors and limited visibility. A gas mask, reliable firearm, and plenty of ammunition will serve you well. Night vision goggles also come highly recommended, and we'd take a mid-range set of optics as well.

Pay attention to audio cues. Several objectives in Banzai's quests, particularly the pump room in Dark as a Dungeon, are easier to locate by following sound. If you typically play with low audio, consider turning it up for these sections.

Explore thoroughly. Banzai's Tools involves searching multiple stashes without knowing which contains the items you need. Take your time and check all marked locations rather than assuming the first stash will have what you're looking for.

Stock up on healing items. Combat encounters during these missions can be intense. The bandits in the Old Mine and the enemies at the C-2 Boiler House are well-armed and aggressive.

Banzai and the Burnt Forest Hub

One of the most significant outcomes of the Stories Untold questline is the potential establishment of a new hub in the Burnt Forest. Depending on the choices you make throughout the missions, this previously sparse area can transform into a fully-equipped base of operations.

When you first encounter him, he's a desperate prisoner broadcasting a distress call from a bandit-controlled mine. The Stories Untold content is free for all STALKER 2 owners, so there's no reason not to dive in. Whether you're starting a fresh playthrough or picking up from a mid-game save, the new content integrates smoothly into the broader Zone experience.

The caveat we mentioned at the start is that the GP37V2 doesn't actually look meaningfully different from the baseline GP37. Upon its announcement, we found ourselves hoping it would look like a modernized, SWAT-style G36 carbine, but the fact is that it shares the model with the basic rifle after all. The only real difference is that the laser aim module is installed on the top rail instead of the rightmost handguard rail, and it comes with the tan 2X scope which GP37 otherwise cannot mount.

Who Voices Hugh Williams? The Shape of a Voice Matters More Than the Name

Hugh Williams is sarcastic, direct, occasionally blunt, but ultimately kind. He’s capable with a gun, sure, but he’s also injured, stranded, and emotionally exposed whether he likes it or not. Whoever voices Hugh needs to sound like a real person under pressure, not a performance trying to sell “main character energy.”

It’s easy to imagine an actor with experience outside traditional game VO. Someone comfortable with naturalistic delivery, understatement, and emotional pauses. It's speculation, sure, but this would align with how Capcom has approached more grounded protagonists in recent years. And casting the wrong kind of “tough guy” here would flatten the character instantly.

Diana Is Perhaps the Hardest Casting Decision Capcom Will Make

Diana might look like a child, but she’s not written like one. An android created through Lunafilament, she's curious about the world precisely because she’s still learning what it means to exist in it. That puts her in a dangerous voice-acting grey zone. Too robotic, and she becomes cold. Too childlike, and it doesn't work. Too emotional, and the illusion breaks. Her voice has to sell curiosity, confusion, and growth. Often in short, quiet lines that sit in the space between action beats.

Get Diana right, and players will protect her instinctively. Get her wrong, and no amount of clever writing will save it.

Localization Will Matter More Than Ever

One area where Capcom has consistently delivered in the past is localization, and there’s no indication PRAGMATA will be treated differently. Full Japanese and English voice tracks, alongside carefully adapted scripts and performances that respect tone rather than chasing literal translation, feel like reasonable expectations given the studio’s track record across its major releases.

So, When Will Pragmata’s Voice Actors Be Revealed?

There’s no official timeline. Based on Capcom’s past marketing patterns, voice cast announcements often appear a few months before launch. Usually tied to a story trailer or deep-dive showcase. With an April 2026 release date, a reveal sometime in early 2026 would therefore make sense. But that’s an informed estimate, not confirmation.

Until then, the absence of names feels intentional. Capcom seems content letting players focus on who Hugh and Diana are before telling us who performs them. And that makes total sense to us!

Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment have laid out their plans for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 content in 2026, and there's a substantial amount of new stuff heading our way. The December Community Update confirmed what we can expect from upcoming patches and teased several additions that weren't originally on the Year 2 roadmap. If you've been grinding Operations since launch, you'll want to keep reading.

The Year 2 roadmap covers six planned patches spanning late 2025 and 2026, delivering a mix of free gameplay content and paid cosmetics through Season Pass II. Focus Entertainment has been clear that all gameplay-related updates will remain free for all players, keeping the community unified and matchmaking queues healthy across all platforms. The cosmetics are where they'll make their money, and honestly, that's a fair trade.

All Planned Space Marine 2 Content for 2026

The headline addition for Space Marine 2 content in 2026 is the Techmarine, an entirely new playable class arriving in Patch 12. This marks the first new class since the game launched in September 2024, and it's equipped with the Omnissiah Axe as its signature weapon. The Techmarine should bring fresh mechanics and team synergies to both PvE Operations and PvP modes, though Saber is keeping specific details close to their chest for now. Expect gameplay footage and deeper breakdowns as we get closer to release.

Patch 12 is scheduled for early 2026 and will also include a new Operation for PvE players, new Battlefield Conditions for Stratagems, new Heroic Weapons, and the usual round of technical improvements and bug fixes. On the cosmetics side, two new DLC packs will launch alongside the update: the Raven Guard Champion Pack and the Carcharodons Cosmetic Pack. Those Space Sharks have quite the fanbase, so we imagine that one will sell particularly well.

Additionally, a separate DLC pack featuring heads and voices based on the Blood Angels, Black Templars, and Space Wolves chapters will be available. This addresses a long-requested feature from the community, as players have been asking for chapter-specific customization options for months. Game Director Dmitry Grigorenko confirmed in the December update that this was the "something we said we are going to do, but nobody noticed" hint from earlier communications. Two other hints remain unannounced, so there's clearly more coming that Saber isn't ready to talk about yet.

The less cheerful news is that the Battlebarge Expansion, originally slated for Patch 12, has been delayed to a later update. Saber stated that they "prefer releasing a version we're satisfied with rather than just follow a schedule at all costs." It's a reasonable approach, even if it's disappointing for those who were looking forward to the expansion. No revised release window has been announced yet.

Looking at the full scope of Space Marine 2 content in 2026, the Year 2 roadmap promises a hefty amount of additions across both PvE and PvP. Here's what's confirmed across the remaining patches: four new Operations total, a new Siege map, three new Eternal War arenas for PvP, new Stratagems for PvE, the Helbrute Onslaught mode for PvP, new weapons and free unlockable weapon variants, new enemies and bosses, and new progression mechanics. That's a lot of content for a game that's already proven itself as one of 2024's biggest surprises.

Patch 13 will introduce a new Terminus enemy, giving PvE players a fresh threat to contend with. Patch 15 is set to deliver a new Siege Map for competitive players. Throughout these updates, we can also expect ongoing balance adjustments based on community feedback from the Focus Together platform.

The December update also revealed that Saber has adjusted their plans to include more free content than originally listed on the roadmap. The progression update mentioned in Year 2 is now confirmed to be an entirely new feature rather than a simple tweak to existing systems. Details are being kept under wraps until closer to release. On top of that, the Datavault's Ordeal system will be expanded in 2026, giving players additional challenges to tackle.

Season Pass II is where the cosmetic content lives, and it's packed with chapter-specific customization options. The pass grants access to nine DLCs throughout the year, celebrating the galaxy-spanning variety of Space Marine Chapters with new Champion skins, armour pieces, and heraldry markings. Existing chapters like Blood Angels and Salamanders are receiving new cosmetics, while fan-favourite chapters like the Raptors, Iron Hands, and Carcharodons are finally getting their time in the spotlight. The Imperial Fists Cosmetic Pack alone includes over 40 new cosmetics celebrating seven of the chapter's Successor Chapters, so completionists will have plenty to chase.

Quality of life improvements are also in the works. One notable addition is perk loadouts, a highly requested feature that will let players save and swap between different perk configurations without manually adjusting everything each time. It's a small change on paper, but anyone who's been switching between builds for different Operations will appreciate the convenience.

For those wondering about the current state of the game, Saber acknowledged connectivity issues that emerged following the 11.0 update and confirmed they're actively working on fixes. Hotfixes 11.1 and 11.2 have already addressed some problems, with more improvements expected. The development team is taking a break over the winter holidays, so don't expect major announcements until early January at the earliest.
