Space Marine 2's Operations Mode is a pretty sweet deal for anyone who's wanted a dedicated Astartes/Space Marine game with live-service leanings. Namely, not only do you get to outfit your very own custom Astartes and run them through half-a-dozen semi-randomized missions, but the developer Saber Interactive also aims to keep adding to it via Space Marine 2's future Season Pass offerings and content patches.
Now, even after you're done with the game's dozen-or-so hour main campaign, the odds are good you won't know where to start in Operations Mode after you're done with it. Between Astartes classes, weapon choices, customization options, Operations themselves, and a variety of other options, it's easy to get lost in it all. So, our tip is to choose the Marine class you're most interested in, and then jump straight into Trials. Here's why!

Operations Mode Trials are essentially itemized and reward-laden micro-tutorials for your Astartes class of choice. Each class has three different Trials to choose from, each of them leaning into the particular class's unique features and gameplay options.
Take the Vanguard Astartes for example, as illustrated above. The Vanguard is a powerful assassin-type Astartes that can zip in and out of encounters way more easily than other Astartes classes do, all thanks to his Grapnel Launcher ability. To that end, the Vanguard's Trials explain how the Grapnel can be used to rapidly deal with high-powered threats to sow discord among the enemies and weaken other forces.
It really helps you get a sense of how each class is supposed to play and what their roles are on the battlefield. Further, completing the Trial quickly enough rewards you with some extremely valuable resources and Requisition, allowing you to invest in more Heraldries, customization options, Perks, and so on.
So, we recommend playing all the Trials as soon as possible to see which Astartes class you might feel most comfortable as, and to stock up on Requisition and upgrade points early on.
