Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Legendary Edition is the latest offering in the iconic Dragon Ball franchise, and it's well worth checking out! Originally launched almost exactly three years ago, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot introduced us to Dragon Ball lore, showing us what a full-fledged Dragon Ball Z-themed role-playing game could do. One of Bandai Namco's most interesting and promising takes on this beloved IP ended up being rather successful, and now, in 2023, we've got a whole new batch of content, including new Dragon Ball characters to consider! Indeed, this Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Legendary Edition overview is going to explain precisely what's been newly added to the Dragon Ball Z world (expect some epic boss battles!).
If you're on the fence about getting this upgrade or, perhaps, if you're hoping to jump into the game for the first time, this is the way to do it! Besides, it's only appropriate that Dragon Ball's biggest, most comprehensive RPG has a big, comprehensive content bundle all of its own. With the Dragon Ball Z Legendary Edition, that particular dream has come true!
There's been a surprising amount of confusion online as to what Bandai Namco is doing with the Legendary Edition of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, but the simple truth is that the iconic Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is getting a new batch of DLC, including new Dragon Ball characters, epic boss battles, and classic Dragon Ball lore! The exciting bit is that we're talking about a years-old ARPG without any live service elements. For it to receive expansion packs so late in its life cycle isn't outright unprecedented, but it sure is exciting enough to warrant coverage.
True enough - there's been a huge number of Dragon Ball games over the years, but just about none of them have tapped the same niche as Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot has. This is, at its core, a full and proper action RPG set in the Dragon Ball Z world. Since its release, the publisher tried some interesting things which sadly haven't caught on. That being said, The Breakers can hardly be compared to Kakarot in regard to appeal and the target audience - something to keep in mind.
In summary, then, for Dragon Ball fans, the game is an absolute must-play, but broader-thinking RPG players should make note of it as well!
The Legendary Edition of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot includes all of the game's previously launched content by default:
This means you're getting a hefty chunk of RPG progression even if we disregard the second Season Pass. However, since the Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Legendary Edition comes with that too, there's no point in doing that!
Now, the information on what this Dragon Ball Z DLC entails is rather slim so far. Even the official Steam page for the DLC is keeping information tucked away for the time being. We do know, however, that it's going to include two more narrative arcs to play through to add to the Dragon Ball lore, as well as new Dragon Ball characters, epic boss battles, and the Sea Monster Soup cooking item.
Fans of the core Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot franchise may be thrilled to hear that a recent leak suggested that the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai arc might be getting the limelight as part of one of these DLCs. Getting more attention on these pivotal chapters of the Dragon Ball Z franchise is great news indeed, and we can't wait to see what else Bandai Namco might have in store for us all.
If you are deciding between Dragon Ball Z Karakot Deluxe, Ultimate, or Standard Editions, then this is what you need to know. As would be expected, the Standard Edition just comes with the regular game, which is awesome, but it obviously lacks the extra content. The Deluxe Edition on the other hand comes with the regular game, the Well-Aged Steak DLC, and the season pass. Not bad! However, not surprisingly, the Ultimate Edition comes up trumps, with the regular game, season pass, Dragon Palace Bowl DLC, Music Compilation Pack, and Tao Pai Pai Pillar. If the price difference is what will affect your decision, check out 2Game today for special offers on all editions!
Though much of Season Pass #2 remains hidden at this time, the very first new chapter featuring Goku's father, Bardock, is already available and kicking serious butt. So far, the reviews have been very positive indeed, which spells good news for the two future Dragon Ball Z chapters. At 39.99 EUR without any discounts applied, the Season Pass as a whole may be a tall ask for some players. Yet, you are getting three whole new mini-campaigns built on top of the baseline Kakarot experience, adding an immense amount of value if you're a fan of the Dragon Ball Z gameplay loop.
Really, that's what the value consideration boils down to: do you enjoy Kakarot? If yes, then you're going to love what additions Bandai Namco has prepared for it over the years. And if you love the idea of Kakarot with adventuring, questing, upgrades, and all the other good bits, there's never been a better time to start playing Dragon Ball Z.
And there you have it! That summarizes everything important about this new version of the iconic Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. It's hardly the sort of Dragon Ball Z sequel we had been hoping Bandai Namco would announce, but we're very happy to see that there's something happening on this front after all.
And, to be perfectly fair, this could be a way to test whether there's an audience for a future game of this type present in the first place. Bandai Namco may well be looking at the Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Legendary Edition's performance before deciding whether to move with the next similar Dragon Ball Z project or not and if you're hoping to see something of the type, odds are good that now's the time to act!
