Lockpicking is a huge aspect of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered. Even if you're role-playing a goody-two-shoes that never steals, a bunch of chests and doors you come across in dungeoneering will be locked. So, you do need a steady supply of lockpicks no matter what.

Where do you find them, though? Well, we've got all the info you need down below!

How and where to get Lockpicks in Oblivion Remastered?

Lockpicks are a curious resource in Oblivion: very few traders on the up-and-up stock them, but you'll find them basically wherever you go. Just not in massive quantities. Since they break fast, you need a healthy supply wherever you go, which means you need a proper fence.

The easiest way to get a bunch of lockpicks as soon as possible in Oblivion is to head on over to Chestnut Handy Stables outside the Imperial City, and then head northeast along the walls of the city. Keep trekking until you come across an obviously shady black-clad hooded figure: that's Shady Sam, and he's going to be your go-to lockpick and poison trader.

Shady Sam has 30 lockpicks in store per reset, which is a solid enough amount for regular adventuring. Especially since lockpicks also drop as random loot items every so often. That being said, we highly recommend hunting down the Skeleton Key as soon as possible.

We're not in the business of spoiling fun quests, but progress your character up to level 10 and then head to the north of Leyawiin until you come across a Shrine to Nocturnal. Complete the attached quests and thank us later, as the Skeleton Key is basically an infinite-use lockpick. Have fun!

Lockpick Cheat Code in Oblivion

One last-resort option you might choose to peruse is the phenomenally useful lockpick cheat-code for both the original Oblivion and the Oblivion Remastered. Drop down the command line using the 'Tilde' key on your keyboard and input the following command:

Doing so will add 1,000 lockpicks to your inventory, though it will also preclude you from unlocking any further Achievements in your current playthrough. This can obviously be side-stepped with mods, so your mileage on this cheat's usefulness will vary!
