Even though Monster Hunter: World and its subsequent expansion pack - Iceborne - proved to be incredibly successful on PC, it has taken quite a long while for Monster Hunter Rise PC to be brought up. Thankfully, though, Capcom is on it, and we're thrilled to announce that the game is noavailable for pre-order right here at 2Game!

Depending on how familiar you are with the game, you may or may not know how Rise differs from World, and if it's a worthwhile upgrade in the first place. Today, we'll go over some of its most important features, explain what it is in the first place, and why it's as important of a release as it is. Exciting stuff, for sure!

Given that we now finally know what the Monster Hunter Rise PC release date is, it's time to start thinking about pre-order discounts and exclusive content, too. We've got all that - and more - in the next section. So, if you were looking to kickstart the hype engines, you have come to just the right place.

Monster Hunter Rise PC Release Date

Monster Hunter Rise PC is coming out on January 12, 2022, according to the latest official statement from Capcom themselves. This is in accordance with the promised early 2022 release date, so it seems that Capcom had a pretty solid idea of how long the porting process would take in the first place.

We've already been given an idea of what to expect out of the PC build of the game, and let us tell you - things are looking might fine indeed. Here's the list of confirmed PC features:

The upcoming endgame expansion pack for Rise - Sunbreak - has been confirmed as a PC release, too. Better still, it seems that the DLC will be coming out on Nintendo Switch and PC simultaneously, which is an amazing change of pace.

PC Demo for Monster Hunter Rise is on the way, too!

That's right - the news just keeps getting better! Capcom is going to offer a special PC demo version of the game via Steam - available on October 13th! This means that players will have the opportunity to check the game out and see how it performs on their rig. According to the press release, the demo is going to feature the following content:

A fairly respectable slice of the full game, we feel. Be sure to give it a shot when it comes out.

Monster Hunter Rise PC System Requirements

As you could've expected, the official system requirements for Monster Hunter Rise are rather tame. One curiosity we ought to point out, though, is that Capcom rated the following spec sheet for 1080p rendering at a mere 30 FPS. This is curious, to be sure, but not entirely unprecedented.

Really tame, isn't it? It goes further still if you consider that these are the recommended specs, with the minimum supported being a mere Nvidia GT 1030 - an office-work GPU in most respects. Overall, if the game performs as advertised, we're looking at very admirable optimization.

Technical information on PC Upgrades for MH: Rise

A particularly exciting aspect of the Monster Hunter Rise PC version is that it's going to be available for a wide variety of configurations. Remember that this is - unlike World - a Nintendo Switch release first and foremost. In practice, this means that it's kind of sort of closer to older mainline MH releases. Think Freedom Unite, for example. On its own, this isn't a very remarkable statement but consider the upcoming release of Steam Deck.

Indeed, Valve's exciting handheld gaming PC should be more than enough to play Monster Hunter Rise at high settings. World, on the other hand, wasn't nearly as optimized in the end. This may or may not have something to do with the fact that World was not a handheld release, whereas Rise most certainly is.

Do keep in mind, of course, that we're only talking in hypotheticals here. Having said that, we see no reason why the Steam Deck wouldn't be able to pull this off. According to the official system specs, a remarkably low-end Nvidia GT 1030 should be more than enough to get us 30 FPS at 1080p - handheld gaming PCs ought to have no issue with that!

How does Monster Hunter Rise compare to Monster Hunter World?

We're pretty open about being huge fans of Capcom here at 2Game. Devil May Cry, Resident Evil, Street Fighter - they've got decades of experience and have built up a veritable pedigree over the time they've been in business. The one franchise that always seems to be in a class all of its own, though, is definitely Monster Hunter.

Now, of course, there have been pretenders over the years, but no other franchise has successfully managed to deliver quite as many awesome entries as Monster Hunter has.

Its last entry, though, has certainly made a hell of an impression. We've hinted at this before, but MH Rise is a qualitatively different game compared to MH World. It's a matter of platform development, really. Whereas World was made for big home consoles first and foremost, Rise is basically a handheld title that's being back-ported onto PC. How do the two compare, then?

Plenty of comparisons have already been made, to be sure. The general consensus seems to be that, whereas World was a bigger, more substantial sandbox to play around with, Rise offers a more streamlined and enjoyable gameplay experience.

Rise essentially took everything that worked in World, did away with what didn't, and added more awesome stuff to the mix for good measure. Rideable super-wolves, Switch Skills, a better Hub Town, and heaps more are present in Rise. In comparison, World feels different - and not necessarily better.

Final Thoughts

It goes without saying that Monster Hunter Rise on PC is an incredibly exciting prospect. Not only are we talking about the next entry in one of the most highly-acclaimed ARPG franchises in all of gaming, but it's also a phenomenal game on its own two legs. Don't forget that Rise received stellar Metacritic score of 88/100 overall. Almost too many 10/10 scores to keep track of! Having the opportunity to play this without resorting to emulation is awesome, to say the least.

And, yes, we've known that the game was coming to PC for some time now, but it's hard to get excited about a game that could very well be years out. Thankfully, this is no longer the case! Monster Hunter Rise is coming to PC on January 22nd, 2022, and you can snag your own pre-order copy right this instant.

When you really look at it, even MH offshoots such as Monster Hunter Stories are of incredibly high quality. Capcom knows what they're about, is what we're getting at. Similarly, the fact that MH Rise is phenomenal isn't new at all. Its availability on the most scalable and widespread platform of all time, though, certainly is.

We can't wait to give it a whirl, that's for sure.
