More specifically, video games that will take you far away from your home during isolation. That's why we prepared a list of games that will give you just that. Let's go check it out!
Instead of staying cooped up in your apartment why not visit some tropical islands? Tropico has it all: beautiful beaches, smell of premium cigars, and clear blue skies. That is, if you want it to. Tropico series puts you in a role of el presidente of a tropical nation. From there, it's all up to you. You can make it a tourist attraction if you wish to, or be a black arms dealer for other countries. Just try not to get assassinated. Fans of city builder games will definitely enjoy the breath of fresh air that is Tropico.
But there is one more thing that makes it better. You'll find the Tropico franchise on a massive sale right now. Courtesy of our Keep Calm & Stay at Home sale. The Tropico franchise discount will be active until March 22nd. Make sure not to miss it. Check out the details:
In case tropical islands aren't far enough for you (for all I know, you actually live on a tropical island) how about leaving this planet all together? There are two games that are just perfect for that. The first one will literally take you out of this world and into another. Or rather, multiple ones. I'm talking about The Outer Worlds.
So what makes The Outer Worlds so good? The answer is simple: everything. It's a game with big consequences, plenty of companions (both guys and gals), intriguing companion quests, and a whole bunch of damage types and damage effects to master and use against your enemies. Is it obvious that this is my personal recommendation? I stand by it, that's why I highly recommended it to every poor soul that made the mistake of asking me anything about The Outer Worlds. But all jokes aside, The Outer Worlds is a true narrative-driven experience brought to us by Obsidian Entertainment. If you enjoyed games such as Tyranny, Pillars of Eternity, South Park: Stick of Truth, or Fallout: New Vegas, I promise you'll love The Outer Worlds.
But what if you're in the mood for something a bit more comical? How about some proper science fiction pulp? Don't worry, we have just the game for you. Journey to the Savage Planet is a fresh new take on alien planet exploration. Namely, it has a proper focus on exploration for which it will reward you, hand-crafted planet, and most importantly, great humor. If you want to take a look at it before you get it you can check out our playthrough series on Youtube. As a bonus, it's played by one handsome son of a gun.
Maybe even going to other planets is not enough for you. Maybe you just want to go into a whole new fantasy world. Luckily, that's one thing games to the best. But when choosing games that will take you far away into fantasy worlds I had to ask myself which ones can you play the longest? It didn't really take long to answer that one. Of course, it's The Elder Scrolls games.
This is the best time ever to hop into the ultimate fantasy experience that is Elder Scrolls Online. First of all, it's an MMO, which means you'll have plenty of stuff to do. And I mean plenty. There are six classes to choose from and use in both solo and group content, not to mention thrilling PvE dungeons and raids. And if you're feeling competitive there are also PvP modes to test your strength. Furthermore, the Greymoor expansion pack is arriving soon, which will expand the world of The Elder Scrolls Online even further.
But maybe you're more of a single player experience type of person. I think it's quite obvious where I'm going with this. Do The Elder Scrolls single player games even require highlighting anymore? Who amongst us hasn't lost hundreds of hours in Skyrim, Oblivion, or Morrowind? On the off-chance you haven't, now is the time to do it. And if you have, there is no better time to revisit the games than now.
Now here is one that will keep you occupied, both in single player and online. The game is Red Dead Redemption 2. The reason I'm bringing it up is that even though this game is amazing (and if you don't believe me you can check out all of the awards it got) it takes time to play through properly. There is a whole bunch of missions and side-objectives for you to do, horses to tame, weapons to unlock, and trains to rob. And that's before you even think about opening up the Red Dead Online mode.
As you might know, Red Dead Redemption 2 is a game that takes its time when delivering the experience. And it does so amazingly. So if you're looking for a game that will take at least 40 hours to beat in single player this would be my top recommendation. But honestly, if you're the type that enjoys doing at least some side-objectives and explore you'll get at least double that time out of it. Furthermore, Red Dead Online is a brilliant online mode which will keep you busy with Legendary Bounties, PvP showdowns, and four specialist roles to level up. And it's quite addicting, if I may say so myself. That's just based on me clocking in 100 hours into it in the first month of its release.
