Nothing quite makes or breaks a fighting game as its character roster does! A good, long-lasting, and competitive title needs a solid variety of combatants that doesn't really go overboard - for balancing purposes - and with this article here, we aim to discuss the full list of Street Fighter 6 characters we've seen so far! Does it fit the bill? Are more of them coming in the future? What has Capcom got in store for us?
All these questions, and more, are what we'll be focusing on. The goal is to give you the most comprehensive and useful list of Street Fighter 6 info we could possibly offer, so we don't think you'll be disappointed! With all of that in mind, let's not dawdle: goodness awaits!
As you likely already know, Street Fighter 6 will launch with a roster of 18 characters in total. This may seem rather limited compared to Street Fighter 5's whopping 45 characters, but there's a good reason for this being the case: careful, incremental balancing.
This franchise has been built based on easy-to-learn, hard-to-master competitive combat. It's fast, precise, and exceedingly deliberate. Launching an all-new combat platform with a mainline franchise entry is no small feat, and Capcom is wise not to throw everything at the wall immediately. Sources have already confirmed that DLC characters are coming down the line! This means you don't need to worry, even if your character isn't on the confirmed roster.

To add a bit more context to Capcom's confirmed post-launch support plans for SF6, we do have a list of what's coming in the short term:
This also tells us that Capcom fully intends to take things slow with the game. Even though a wealth of content is already confirmed to be coming, subsequent additions will be reasonably deliberate to keep everything nice, neat, and fully balanced. Ultimately, this should result in a healthy and satisfying combat loop without any huge outliers. Maintaining such a balance is a huge boon for the game's competitive feel, which is an obvious consideration!
So, to circle back to what we know is happening for a fact! 18 launch-day characters are coming in SF6:
In other words, most fan favourites are already on this list. It was, perhaps, to be expected that the majority of the previous titles' DLC offerings wouldn't make the cut right off the bat, though certain exclusions - like Vega, for one! - do confound us a bit. Regardless, it's a hefty, solid list that we'll be excited to test out on June 1st!
Cammy is one of Street Fighter's all-star characters. A classic special forces operative who doesn't really know how to relax, Cammy is back in full force in Street Fighter 6, bringing about her trademark Shadaloo fighting style. Cammy is still aligned with Delta Red, and Capcom's described her latest iteration as 'hyper-competent'.
An ICPO agent turned teacher, Chun-Li appears to have retired from field action to teach the art of kung fu. In Street Fighter 6, Chun-Li is a wise and respected community member, and seems to be a bit of a local hero following her earlier adventuring.
Against all odds, the Street Fighter 6 version of Blanka has turned things around for himself at last. The man works as an adventure-focused tour guide, leveraging his experiences in the jungle to make a good living. He also appears to have a whole slew of Blanka-themed dolls he carries around, which is a neat touch!
Dee Jay is a pop superstar turned combatant, using his love of music to drive his fighting style. A Jamaican fighter with a penchant for flashiness, Dee Jay is the series' mainstay kickboxer. From the looks of it, his wacky combination of brutal kicks and a laissez-faire attitude will be making a full comeback in SF6, too.
The weird contortionist man is back! An Indian monk warrior and a master of yoga, Dhalsim dispenses swift justice upon those he deems evil. This, too, remains unchanged in Street Fighter 6, and the character's trademark "ranged" combat has already been shown off in a limited fashion.
A Street Fighter's favorite sumo wrestler, E. Honda is not just a top-notch combatant, but also an equally competent chef that is, according to Capcom, particularly renowned for his chanko stew! We're not sure whether that particular piece of information will be extremely relevant in combat, but it's there!
As years went by, Guile appears to have become a bit of a family man. That, however, isn't going to stop him from kicking butt for the duration of Street Fighter 6! Featuring a barrage of brutal, hard-hitting attacks, Guile is bound to stick around as a classic choice for those who've been with the series for a long while.
A dancer-turned-warrior, Jamie is the very first all-new character to be shown off for Street Fighter 6! Curiously, he's being pitched as Luke's rival for the game, which is bound to make for an interesting dynamic between the two. Jamie's fighting style is the legendary Drunken Fist modus, which has been sorely missing from the franchise up until now.
An elderly badass, JP is the second all-new character to make their way into Street Fighter 6. JP is pitched as a two-faced warrior whose moveset focuses on controlling the battlefield. Though sleek, contained, and polite to a fault at first glance, JP seems to hide a vicious secret that may or may not come into play as the game's narrative unfolds.
As vicious and agile as ever, Juri seems to be 'whiling away in a gloomy haze' after taking revenge against M. Bison. That, however, is unlikely to have affected her abilities in combat, as Juri's particular brand of super-speedy acrobatics is definitely making a triumphant return in Street Fighter 6.
Another Street Fighter mainstay, Ken is officially on the run as of Street Fighter 6, having been accused of criminal orchestration and corruption. This appears to have kicked off Ken's transformation into a badass combat hobo, which is a fun change of pace for the fan-favorite.
Kimberly is a fascinating new fighter due to her love of the '80s pop culture. And, of course, her wish to become a genuine ninja! Her combat style reflects both of these features, making us think Kimberly's bound to become one of the most popular characters once the game begins.
A happy-go-lucky mercenary with a marked interest in MMA, Luke is a straightforward hard-hitter that's going to be a great choice for those who enjoy such a combat loop. Expect rapid-fire kicks and punches with an attitude to match!
Lily is a descendant of the native Thunderfoot tribe, which betrays her penchant in active combat, too. In Street Fighter 6, Lily shares many of her interests with Blanka, as she too is a nature-focused environmentalist. This aligns her with the franchise's gang of goodies, with more details to follow.
Manon is, for the lack of a better word, a bit of a superhero. Batman, to be specific. She is both a champion judoka and a world-class supermodel, leveraging both of her expert niches to leave a lasting impression in the arena. The specifics of Manon's combat style are still unknown, though.
Marisa, too, has a fascinating backstory: she's an Italian jewelry designer that claims ancestry to ancient Greek warriors - if her schtick wasn't obvious enough at a glance. Marisa appears to be relying on kickboxing-adjacent moves, though it does seem she's mixing in some other styles for good measure, too.
What could be said about Ryu that hasn't already been said, hundreds of times over? Old man Ryu is further along in his growth as a warrior than ever before: wizened and experienced, the Street Fighter 6 version of the legendary fighter is bound to be his most interesting version yet.
The Red Cyclone is back in Street Fighter 6! Zangief is a tried-and-true classic in Street Fighter, and his usual wrestler persona is also coming back. It remains to be see whether Capcom's changed anything about Zangief in his latest iteration, but some novelties are 100% in.
This article is going to get updated substantially over the next couple of weeks and months! Though the information is currently slim on most of these characters, Capcom will provide more information soon enough. Once that happens, expect a comprehensive upgrade, so you'll want to stay tuned for sure.
As it stands, all we really have to go on is some gameplay footage and a bit of splash text featured on the official website, but more info is on the way! In the interim, don't forget to check out some of our other SF6 content:
