Being the kings of the genre that they are, it should come as no surprise that Bandai Namco has decided to tackle Sword Art Online's 10th anniversary in the best way possible: with a dedicated video game ARPG! Indeed, Sword Art Online: Last Recollection is supposed to be a grand celebration of the franchise and, in some ways, its final argument.

Slated to launch on October 6, Last Recollection aims to be the Bandai Namco trademark anime ARPG that the fans will know and love. We know with absolute certainty that the developer will leverage its expertise to create one of the finest action-adventure experiences in its roster, but the big question that remains is that of content.

Notably, what is it that you're actually getting in Last Recollection? Can you save a few bucks by placing a pre-order? And, if so, what pre-order bonuses are there in the first place? Those are the questions we'll be answering today, and best of all - we've got big discounts ready to go, too!

Sword Art Online: Last Recollection Pre-Order Overview

In more ways than not, Last Recollection is built from the ground up to be a complete and comprehensive celebration of Sword Art Online as a series. This means seeing old favorite characters back in action, experiencing franchise-trademark combat first-hand, and immersing oneself into the fantastical world the series has become renowned for.

Far as gameplay goes, players are put into the shoes of Kirito and his crew of heroes, featuring almost two dozen of them on launch day. Last Recollection is a third-person character action and JRPG hybrid, combining some of the best aspects of the two disparate genres into an experience that looks to emulate what many of us had seen in the beloved anime.

It is, however, a dedicated single-player game - no multiplayer elements of any sort - though one of its highlight features is that its boss fights look and feel like they're epic MMORPG setpieces!

Last Recollection - Regular Edition

In a more practical sense, most fans will know what Last Recollection is all about. The really good news is that you can place a pre-order on the game right this instant and secure five unique pre-order weapon skins, as well as a hefty discount!

By using the link featured above, you, too, could snag the game at a highly reduced price-point, play it on day one, and enjoy some extra bling while you're at it. Here's the full list of goodies:

We don't know yet if any of these goodies will be available after the game comes out. To that end, if you're even remotely interested in snagging them, now's the time to do so.

Last Recollection - Deluxe Edition

As you'd expect, the upgraded Deluxe Edition of Sword Art Online: Last Recollection offers a more comprehensive set of boons than the base edition does. The heftier EUR 84.99 price-point means that the pre-release discount saves you way more money, and the presence of the bonus Premium Pass ensures that there's always something new to look forward to, even after the game actually comes out.

While the specifics for the Ritual of Bonds DLC are unknown, we know that Bandai Namco aims to have both DLCs out by December 31, 2024. It's not an extremely early launch post-release, then, but it does imply a fairly long-term support window for a dedicated single-player game.

Last Recollection - Ultimate Edition

Finally, there's the Ultimate Edition of Sword Art Online: Last Recollection for those who wish to go absolutely, positively all-in no matter what. Priced at a whopping EUR 100 by default, 2Game's pre-order discount goes a long way for those who purchase this version of the game. The particularly good news, too, is that this version is a hoot for long-time fans of SAO. The highlights include all the extra content - of course - as well as awesome art and music collections.

While the initial asking price may seem steep, the value add is quite concrete, too. It won't be for everyone, but those who wish to experience the best possible version of this game will have a field day with the Ultimate Edition, we believe.

Stay Tuned!

Overall, we're quite thrilled to see what Sword Art Online: Last Recollection might turn out to be. It seems to be a classic Bandai Namco anime celebration, built specifically to mark the tenth anniversary of the series. SAO veterans will be all over this one, but the real test will be whether the game can attract other audiences, too. For that, we'll need to wait and see. If you'd like to learn a bit about the game before splurging, we recommend checking out the following gameplay trailers:
