The Tiny Tina Wonderlands release date PC is upon us, and boy are we excited! Thinking back a couple of years, had someone told us that the next seminal Borderlands game would, in fact, be a fantasy title, we'd have laughed them out of the room. Yet, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands (PC) is set to hit the stores this March!
Now, to be fair, this is an in-universe match of Dungeons and Dragons, for all intents and purposes. Regardless, this franchise is about to take the plunge to its silliest setting yet, and that's quite a tall order for long-term fans of the series.
We had previously spoken about what Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is and what it isn't. The conclusion, then, was that this is not a proper Borderlands 4. Instead, we're looking at a standalone epic adventure that's trying to do something a bit different.
Pre-order Tiny Tina's Wonderlands on PC today and grab all the pre-order goodies!
This first section of the article is dedicated to updating you about Tiny Tina's Wonderlands content expectations, announcements, and release dates. If you really can't wait it out until March, though, we've got some great news for you!
Namely, Gearbox has launched a special sandboxed version of the game's progenitor: the original Tiny Tina DnD expansion pack for Borderlands 2! That's right - you can now purchase Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep separate from the rest of Borderlands 2, and play that until Wonderlands is properly launched.
As of January 2022, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is set and primed to hit the PC stores on March 25th, 2022. Since we're talking about just two months' worth of time between the writing of this article and the game's release, it does seem likely that Wonderlands will hit its release window target.
As per usual, Gearbox has also prepared a special Wonderlands: Chaotic Great Edition for super-fans of the series. This version features all the extra goodies available at launch, making it a valuable option for those who really enjoy Borderlands overall:
We don't know much about post-launch plans for Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, admittedly. There's a Season Pass planned for sure, and it's bound to be a hefty chunk of content, but we'll need to wait and see how it pans out in practice. Borderlands 3, for example, got significantly less DLC content than Borderlands 2 did.
For better or for worse, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands doesn't really have a comprehensive pre-release exclusivity offering in place. Players that get the game before March 22nd will unlock the admittedly snazzy Golden Hero Armor Pack for their Vault Hu- Adventurer. From what we've seen so far, everything else has been relegated to post-launch DLC and/or the base game.
We'll need to stay tuned to hear more about what Gearbox aims to do with Tiny Tina's Wonderlands' post-launch content schedule. That being said, we do know that the Season Pass would feature four major content drops - as per usual - as well as the classic Butt Stallion cosmetic pack.
While Tiny Tina's Wonderlands (PC) hasn't been getting as much attention as it deserves due to other exciting considerations, fans may be thrilled to hear that Gearbox has been revealing oodles of info about the game over the past few weeks and months!
Namely, we already know what the four playable character classes will be. We've also seen how Tiny Tina's Wonderlands "reinvented" the classic Borderlands gun manufacturers for her new and improved fantasy setting. Here's the scoop.
So, remember how Gearbox specifically wanted not to add any more Vault Hunter classes post-launch? It seems that this rule would not be applied to Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, because not only have we already seen all four baseline character classes by now, but the game's hype page clearly suggests that there's more to come.
Anyway, the four revealed classes are pretty self-explanatory:
And - yes - the game does seem to feature some amount of stealth. Whether it's actually properly implemented for the first time ever in a Borderlands game, though, remains mostly to be seen.
If you're anything like us, the premise of a fantasy Borderlands game didn't seem that enticing at first. The reasoning is the guns, of course, which don't exactly fit into the standard medieval schtick, alien setting or not. Thankfully, Gearbox has adapted them to a reasonable extent. To be sure, they're still moderately out of place, but tastefully so.
Thankfully, we're getting random-gen weaponry as we always have. Expect Pistols, SMGs, Assault Rifles, Shotguns, Sniper Rifles, and Heavy Weapons, but with a fair few unique twists. Crossbow mechanisms, for example, will be making an appearance across the board.
To better fit the newly-established fantasy gear production requirements, we're also getting an old, but retrofitted selection of gear manufacturers:
Most of these have an obvious parallel with classic Borderlands gear manufacturers, but it's a fun twist on a classic (and necessary) formula.
Now that we have a rough outline of what this epic adventure might look like, it's time to talk specs! As of right now, Gearbox hasn't shared any firm info on what to expect out of Wonderlands. That said, we do know a lot about the game's engine, which seems to be the same version of Unreal that powered Borderlands 3.
As much was to be expected, keep in mind. Wonderlands is a huge asset revamp compared to Borderlands 3, and the only way for developers to have such a speedy turnover was to focus mainly on content and feature production, rather than full-on engine revamps.
There are bound to be some upgrades, to be sure, but we're betting on Wonderlands running roughly about as well as its direct predecessor did, generally speaking.
In lieu of proper Wonderlands spec requirements, we're including (recommended) Borderlands 3 hardware specs, instead. While not a 100% match, they're sure to give you a solid idea of what to expect. We'll update this section as soon as Gearbox pushes out a spec update via official channels.
Of course, please do keep in mind that Borderlands 3 wasn't that well optimized at launch. Frequent stutters and frame-drops were a given, though it's also worth mentioning that Gearbox managed to mostly smooth these out with post-launch hotfixes over a longer period of time.

That about wraps up everything we've got to share about the epic adventure of Tiny Tina's Wonderlands on PC - so far. We'll continue to deploy updates to this article, as well as to our Community Hub as a whole. If you'd prefer to get bite-sized infodrops from the tap instead, consider following the official Wonderlands Twitter account as well.
Generally speaking, Wonderlands looks like just the ticket for Borderlands fans. A chaotic fantasy world offshoot that takes a daring few steps forward without risking the mainline series? Sign us right up! We're excited to see how improved melee combat and character customization features stack up, but really, that's just the start of it.
Spellcasting and the implied stealth systems have immense potential. And huge implications for a potential Borderlands 4, in the long run. But, of course, we're getting ahead of ourselves with that bit.
We've got just a few short months to go before we can start playing as the unpredictable Tiny Tina ourselves. In the meantime, do check out the standalone Assault on Dragon Keep experience, and stay tuned for more - right here at 2Game!
