Starfield on PC will, undoubtedly, be the go-to option for enthusiast gamers looking to delve deep into Bethesda Game Studios' latest flagship release. It's not just because of modding, either: what we've got at hand - due to launch on September 1st for the Digital Premium Edition owners - is a genuine first-party follow-up to the legacies of Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, and Fallout 3 and 4. This is a huge deal!
For those who enjoyed Oblivion back in the day, for example, you're sure to remember the feeling of first leaving the Imperial City sewers. Starfield will replicate that in some sense, for sure, with the added bonus of being a literal galaxy-sized sandbox RPG. What a pitch, eh? But! Even though we do feel that playing Starfield on PC is the best option, there are a number of caveats to take into consideration here, too.
In fact, that's what we'd like to discuss in the next couple of sections!

Look, we're pretty platform-agnostic here at 2Game: not you're average PCmasterrace sort of crew. From genuinely awesome low-spec PC optimization guides to handheld gaming device coverage, we delve deep into all manner of gaming niches... but we still think playing Starfield on PC will be the ultimate way to experience the game.
Just to list a few of the notable PC gaming boons, you're getting:
On top of getting access to an immense modding platform that will only keep growing for years after this particular Bethesda RPG comes out, if all the previous Bethesda games are anything to go by. Now, PCs are also incredibly flexible and adaptive, allowing you to tweak your Starfield gameplay to a ridiculous extent via .ini files and beyond. As long as you can run the video game in the first place, of course.
Bethesda Game Studios titles have always proliferated on PC, and we expect that precisely the same thing will happen this time, too!

On that note, the recommended PC specs for Bethesda Game Studios' new flagship did give us a bit of pause after their reveal. We discussed Starfield's hardware requirements in a dedicated article to a significant extent - we recommend checking that out for sure - but the bottom line is that most of us will likely be CPU-bottlenecked in such an ambitious game.
It does make sense that seeking to answer humanity's greatest mystery would take a heck of a rig, but a significant number of PC gamer rigs may struggle to perform well in Starfield, from what we can tell. If you find your rig, too, teeters on the edge of Starfield PC requirements, exploring the Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Series offerings may be the way to go, after all.
That being said, mods are definitely going to allow more gamers to play Starfield as time goes on: it's just a matter of time until ultra-low settings are unlocked via modding, after all, so do stay tuned after September 6th! We will be covering these in great detail right here at 2Game, of course.

As we've already hinted at earlier in this article, Starfield has technically got two official release dates on PC. What an ambitious game, eh?
All jokes aside, the official release date for Starfield on PC, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X is September 6, 2023. This goes for the baseline version of the game without any extra goodies, addons, or future DLC vouchers, however.
Many fans of Todd Howard looking to join Constellation earlier, however, have already pre-orded the special 'Digital Premium' edition of the game, which comes out five days earlier than the base game, on September 1, 2023! That means you, too, could get an awesome early start with Starfield on top of all the other key goodies.
Note, too, that the Digital Premium Edition on PC comes with a whole slew of key value additions:
And, on top of all of that, anyone who places a pre-order on Starfield ahead of September 6 also gets access to the unique 'Old Mars' Skin Pack, including awesome skins for the Laser Cutter, the Deep Mining Helmet, and the Deep Mining Pack.

For those of us old enough to remember the release of Oblivion on PC, at the very least, the choice to play a Bethesda flagship role-playing game on PC is self-explanatory. If you want to be at the absolute cutting edge of this particular zeitgeist, you should be on PC, and we've no doubt that the game's modding community will jump to the task as soon as possible.
Now! It is worth pointing out that, depending on whether you fit the minimum requirements listings or not, there are some optimizations you could pull off ahead of time. Y'know, just to make sure you can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the rest of us wannabe space explorers! Here's a to-do shortlist:
Bethesda's seminal new role-playing game will be a huge deal for us here at 2Game, and we're already itching at the bits to prepare oodles of new content as soon as we have it in store! You're going to want to stay tuned for sure, especially if low-spec gaming is your specialty. So, do stay tuned and bookmark us for future reference!
