Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth – Everything You Need to Know

It doesn't take more than a passing glance at the list of 2023's best games to see that we've had one of the best years in gamingever. From Hogwarts Legacy to Starfield, classic gaming experiences have proliferated to the point where the live-service fad feels like it's taken its foot off the gas: great news for many core gamers! That's the context that sets us up for 2024, too, and one of the first major games coming out next year is the new Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.

Certainly, we did get the awesome Like a Dragon: Ishin! early in 2023, but that was an update and a port to one of the developer's prior projects. Infinite Wealth, on the other hand, is the direct sequel and follow-up to the series' first-ever turn-based game. This means big narrative developments, for one, as well as entirely new content to be looking forward to. But, what is it that makes Infinite Wealth special? Moreover, what goodies could you possibly score by pre-ordering the title? Learn all of that - and more - in the next couple of sections!

Everything You Need to Know About Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth

It goes without saying that Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth's key feature will be its story. With both Kiryu and Ichiban popping up - each in his own sandbox - we expect that there will be some big developments taking place in this franchise entry. We can also expect the usual assortment of side activities and mini-games. Really, that's the soul of a true Yakuza/Like a Dragon entry, and RGG is bound to invest much into this aspect of it. What else is coming with Infinite Wealth, though? What are the truly important novelties we should keep in mind? Well, here are some of them!

Hawaii Location

First things first, Ichiban's adventure is going to take him to Honolulu! Having recently heard that his mother might be in Honolulu, he takes a trip down to Hawaii and... well, things quickly take a turn for the worse. This is good news for us players, however, as we'll get to explore an all-new location we had never seen before in a Yakuza title. An exciting prospect, isn't it?

Sujimon Battles

Believe it or not, Infinite Wealth is about to introduce its very own Pokemon mini-game. Leveraging the previous game's Sujidex feature, Ichiban will now be able to raise his own Sujimon to duke it out in 3v3 combat. Sujimon are, note, all the different enemies that Ichiban faces in turn-based combat, meaning gangbangers, bikers, etc. It's an... interesting take on the usual pocket monster mechanics, and it's got loads of potential to boot.

Crazy Eats

Finally, Crazy Eats is basically an UberEats expy designed to allow Ichiban to earn some dough during his Honolulu stint. Equipped with a sweet bicycle, Ichiban will need to pick up food orders, complete deliveries, and pull some sick tricks along the way. Good stuff, right?

Official Release Date

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is due to release on PC/Steam on January 25, 2024. SEGA and RGG are yet to announce any pre-order early access periods, though it's not wholly impossible we might yet get one. For more on that, do stay tuned!

PC Hardware Requirements

As it stands, SEGA and RGG are yet to announce an official set of PC hardware requirements for Infinite Wealth. Considering the franchise's relatively low-spec track record, however, we don't anticipate this to be a huge problem, even on the lower side of the hardware spectrum!

Pre-Order Content: Hero's Booster & Special Jobs

Anyone who pre-purchases Infinite Wealth before January 25 will score an awesome (and seemingly exclusive) DLC featuring faster level-up opportunities and two all-new jobs. More specifically, these are the 'Linebacker' job for male playable characters, and the 'Tennis Ace' for female playable characters.

Available Pre-Release Game Editions

As is usually the case for most AA/AAA game releases nowadays, with Infinite Wealth we've also got several different editions of the game for you to peruse. From the standard edition to the all-encompassing Ultimate version, we know which option super-fans will be grabbing, based purely on all the awesome goodies that are bundled within!

2024's Coming Fast: Does Infinite Wealth Await You?

By now, you should have a pretty solid idea of what Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is and what its key features will be. The release of an entirely new mainline Yakuza game is a monumental event, and this one is even more exciting as it promises some resolution to some of the franchise's most important narrative threads. And don't forget: Ichiban is going to Honolulu, of all places!

Beyond that, we don't know what else the future holds. We do know that we're eagerly anticipating early 2024, though, and we've no doubt that RGG Studio aims to deliver something truly memorable here.
